  1. Not that I am aware of, but hey, I’ve been wrong before!
  2. I don’t think DW owes her a cent unless CCTV shows a stumbling and bleeding girl and her mother being ignored or palmed off by staff. If CCTV proves contradictory to the mothers account - DW should sue their asses off for slander and defamation. Completely stinks of trying to stick the boot in riding on the coattails of TRRR and hoping a public uproar will cause DW to settle large and fast.
  3. Granted it’s still “off peak” but you can really feel the lack of rides today. thankfully the park is dead though (so it’s operationally understandable they’ve got a lot closed to be ready in 2 weeks) Still no seats on Doomsday Not sure if it’s been mentioned before but there is a hot dog stand in the Wild West area (obviously closed today)
  4. New nightmare for Dreamworld after girl, 8, ‘badly injured’ A family trip to Dreamworld has become a nightmare after an 8-year-old girl allegedly suffered horrific internal injuries on a water slide. Dreamworld faces another massive lawsuit after an 8-year-old girl allegedly suffered horrific genital injuries on a water slide. The girl’s furious family has called in lawyers over the incident nine days ago which they say turned the water ‘red with blood’ and left her seriously injured in hospital needing two operations. They allege the theme park failed to warn of the dangers and botched its response, with lengthy delays in calling an ambulance and the first-aid room left unattended. The girl’s mother, a nurse, broke down yesterday as she recounted the incident at Dreamworld’s sister park WhiteWater World on November 22. The Logan woman, who wants to be known only as Sarah, said she and her family were visiting the parks after recently buying an annual pass. Her daughter was riding the Fully6 slide with her siblings when she emerged from the water bleeding and crying in pain. “She was just standing on the concrete, blood everywhere. I didn’t know where it was coming from, I was freaking out,” Sarah said. “The blood was just pouring out of her … she was crying ‘Mum, am I gonna die?’” Sarah said no staff were on hand to help, even as her daughter left bloody footprints as they made their way to first-aid. She claims a young male staffer pointed her to the first-aid room ‘and just walked off’. Sarah said the first-aid room was unattended, and with no phone to call the number on the door, she sent her 12-year-old daughter to ‘go and find someone’. She said the floor was ‘full of blood’ and she told a female staffer who arrived to call an ambulance. But Sarah claims the employee only rang the first-aid officer, who suggested the young girl was having her period. “I said, ‘she’s 8 years’ old … this is not her period,” Sarah said. “She’s crying, in pain, bleeding everywhere. They didn’t take it seriously.” Sarah said an ambulance finally arrived about an hour after the incident, and her daughter was taken to Logan Hospital where she underwent emergency surgery for a severe vaginal tear. Her recovery will take eight weeks and she cannot go back to school this year. “The doctors don’t know what long-term effects this could have on her,” Sarah said. Fully6 riders were told only to cross their legs and arms but there was no warning about the potential dangers of wearing swimsuits on the slide, Sarah said. She said the first-aid officer who rang to check on her daughter told her the park was short-staffed and security had not advised that it was an emergency. Sarah said she only took her family to Dreamworld because she believed safety problems that led to the 2016 Thunder River Rapids disaster, in which four tourists died, had been fixed. She has called in major litigation firm Shine Lawyers, which handled millions of dollars in successful compensation claims for the Thunder River Rapids tragedy, to investigate more potential legal action against Dreamworld. “I don’t care about the money … I just never want anyone else to go through this,” she said. Shine Lawyers solicitor Bree Smith said: “An 8-year-old girl has severe internal injuries from a slide at White Water World that she was permitted to ride. This cannot be happening.” “We simply couldn’t believe the extent of this young girl’s injuries when she had done everything requested of her before going down the slide,” Ms Smith said. “This water slide has a powerful water force and the only instruction given to the young girl was to ‘keep your arms and legs crossed.’ “In the wake of the damning inquest findings against Dreamworld, it is distressing to also hear how our client was treated when trying to get medical attention for her bleeding daughter.” A Dreamworld spokesman said the park had self-reported the incident to WorkSafe Queensland and was conducting its own investigation. In September, Dreamworld parent Ardent Leisure was fined $3.6 million after pleading guilty to workplace health and safety charges over the Thunder River Rapids ride catastrophe. https://www.couriermail.com.au/news/queensland/new-nightmare-for-dreamworld-after-girl-8-badly-injured/news-story/d1bcd3bd27bd671b52b0d9090a896dea my immediate thoughts are obviously with the girl, but I can’t comprehend the “no one around” comment. There is a staffer permanently at the bottom of the Fully 6 slides. If the water was red with blood and she was walking blood all over the place, I fail to see how that could be missed by multiple staff. Even the spotter/supervisor up on the tower surely would have noticed
  5. Assume just general maintenance prior to peak period. It has been open post-COVID closures so it’s not a case of it being closed due to social distancing or touch points etc
  6. Haha, I only look after the east coast and NT so it doesn’t fuss me what the rest of the country do. It’s mainly the nsw/QLD border that is a pain as we run events either side and having staff on either side and logistically it’s a nightmare from pretty much October to March
  7. Don’t disagree, would make my job a hell of a lot easier only dealing with 1timezone.
  8. Pretty sure we have enough daylights from 5am to 6:30pm every day at the moment
  9. Dreamworld’s newest attraction will pack plenty of venom. The Gold Coast theme park will today announce new details of the $32 million rollercoaster, including its name of Steel Taipan. Reaching a top speed of 105km/h and a G-force of 3.8, with multiple inversions and even a spinning gondola at the rear of the train, the ride is being heralded as a world-leading thrill ride and stands as the biggest single investment in the theme park’s history. German manufacturer MACK has commenced testing of the world’s first “spinning gondola”, which will be a key feature. The project was delayed by the park’s lengthy shutdown during the coronavirus pandemic, but work is now back on track. Earthworks have already commenced, with the entire project expected to take about 12 months – making the ride on track to open in time for the 2021 Christmas holidays. The project will include over $15 million in contractor works while providing employment for over 200 people across the local economy. Dreamworld chief strategy officer Paul Callander said there was an air of excitement around the new attraction. “We look forward to our guests experiencing the world’s first spinning gondola and the southern hemisphere’s first reverse twisted half pipe,” he said. “We believe these features will make Steel Taipan a truly unique coaster experience. “We are incredibly excited to have commenced a project that will deliver not only a world-class experience for our guests, but also a welcome boost to jobs and the local economy.” https://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/news/queensland/inside-steel-taipan-dreamworlds-newest-32m-rollercoaster/news-story/6fbe6786478e67c11b0ba9c383bfc95a “Worlds first spinning gondola?”
  10. Look I’m certainly not adequately informed or experienced to answer this question in detail other than to say from what I have seen this ISNT the case, and you’ve basically proven that yourself by stating you’ve had no problems on some of the hallmark rides in Australia like SE and DCR.
  11. New dates just added all original dates now sold out
  12. Summer Slam is back this year, as well as extended trading hours and movies
  13. It’s an annual event that is EXTREMELY popular and being in summer this time around rather than winter will make those extended trading hours even more attractive for locals and interstate visitors. You don’t even know what they have planned and are already bitching & moaning... seriously.

  15. interesting little grab from Clark Kirby's contribution to an article in the GCB about how the Gold Coast will rebound from covid. "Family-favourite events White Christmas at Movie World, Dive’n’Movies at Wet’n’Wild and Carnivale at Sea World are all returning as well as the addition of some exciting limited-time-only attractions which will be in place over the summer period." Wonder what these limited-time-only attractions will be. Maybe some drop in carnival rides as we saw with Star Flyer?
  16. SHAREHOLDERS in Gold Coast theme park owner Village Roadshow will benefit from a bonus cash payment if they give the green light to the BGH Capital takeover at a meeting later this month. Village on Monday announced that it has agreed with BGH to lock in the 12 cents per share bonus four days earlier than required. The bonus was conditional upon Movie World and Sea World being open for a period prior to the shareholder meeting on November 26. However, shareholders will miss out on two other bonus payments - one for there being no changes to the cinema release schedule and another related to border closures with NSW and Victoria. The latter would have delivered 5 cents extra to shareholders if there were no border control measures with NSW by November 1 and Victoria by November 15. Queensland did not open its border to residents from Greater Sydney on November 1 meaning that the requirement for the 5c payment was not met. A booklet outling the property from private equity firm BGH was sent to shareholders last month. The proposal is actually two with the first option - preferred by directors - offering $2.32 per share with additional payments for the theme parks and borders reopening and the cinema release schedule remaining unchanged. This would see BGH acquiring shares in Village’s ultimate holding company, held by John Kirby, Robert Kirby and Graham Burke, with the holding company going on to buy out all remaining shares. The holding company has 39.91 per cent of shares on issue. A second option has a lower cash offer of $2.22 per share because of what are said to be additional costs incurred by BGH in implementation of the second proposal. Last month an independent expert’s report came down in favour of shareholders approving the takeover. According to Grant Samuels - the independent expert engaged by Village to report back on the scheme - the offer was fair and reasonable and in the best interests of shareholders in the absence of a better offer. Grant Samuels said if not for the deal, Village would have to raise $300 million to keep the company afloat. https://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/business/gold-coast-theme-park-owner-village-roadshow-close-to-finalising-deal-with-bgh-capital/news-story/e641f79673a6806dba008d549e2b794c
  17. THE Gold Coast’s newest roller coaster will open in time for the winter school holidays in 2021. Sea World’s $20 million Leviathan will be the first new wooden rollercoaster built in Australia since the 1980s and has already made its presence felt in the city’s skyline. The first major peak of the attraction can already been seen soaring above the theme park, with construction only just passing the 25 per cent mark. Village Roadshow theme parks chief operating officer Bikash Randhawa said the new ride would be a “game changer” for the city. “We did our research and spoke to a lot of people and what we found was that every park which had a wooden roller coaster saw their attendance go up and this it is great point of difference for us because nobody has done a ride like this in decades,” he said. “It is an impressive structure and we believe it will feature in almost every future marketing campaign for the city, because it will be the first wooden coaster in the world to also have backwards-facing seats. “A lot of engineering has gone into this and let me say, you don’t buy a $20 million ride just because you like it, it has to hit the mark (for bringing in new patrons)”. The Leviathan is the centrepiece of Sea World’s $50 million, 1.5ha New Atlantis precinct which is expected to be completed in mid-late 2021. It will stand at 32m tall and its carriages will hit speeds of up to 80 km/h along its 1km track. Village Roadshow had initially planned to open it for Christmas 2020 but construction was delayed because of the COVID-19 shutdown of theme parks. https://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/news/gold-coast/future-gold-coast/gold-coast-theme-parks-first-look-at-sea-worlds-new-wooden-roller-coaster/news-story/886299411d58db1e2fdc5d508c669b05
  18. Seats are all detached from the arm on Claw
  19. The upper facade of the ice cream parlour is now completely gone, so it’s safe to say that the overall aesthetic will be changing dramatically Pandemonium has all its cars and arms offsite somewhere. It being closed as well as Sidewinder & Claw really saps some family attractions out of the mix. Line of Madagascar is therefore well outside the queue house. Whilst I personally cannot remember what they used to be, ride ops are making constant mention on the Dodgems that the ride restrictions have now changed. I have checked the website and it reflects what they are now verbally telling everyone pre-loading. My guess is previously shorter kids could ride, and there wasn’t an actual specified height limit to drive, you just had to be able to reach the peddles
  20. 13 months is plenty of time to allow for some delays along the way. Barring a serious second wave in QLD shutting everything down long term
  21. This is definitely incorrect unless they are a per person limit as opposed to a 2 person limit. (Ie triple vortex - 2 people x 115kg = 230kg limit) My son and I regularly go on all these slides and have a combined weight of approx 130kg and have never once had an issue
