  1. Whilst understanding that the buffet isn’t running as they are effectively an extinct species (although greatly missed as it was the highlight for mine), packaging a dinner with a choice of 4 meals, unlimited drinks (including alcohol) and a family photo in my opinion is overkill. The photo op should be optional, as should the alcohol package. $69 for adults $39 for kids
  2. If they incorporated DW relative merch/prizes (wiggles, abc,Dreamworks, tiger island etc) they’d look much better incorporated overall and less plunked
  3. Not sure how many financial results you’ve looked at, but our parks haven’t been pulling much of a profit for a long time. Punters (not just enthusiasts) are demanding more rides, experiences, upgrades - and the only way to provide that is with increased prices.
  4. What makes you say that though? I know many many families that fork out more than that per year for season tickets to their NRL/AFL team, and that’s only for 12 games over the course of 6 months. cost is irrelevant, it’s all about value, or perceived value. If a family of 4 pays $1000 for the 4 passes, if that family attends the parks 2 times per month, that’s $41.66 per visit for the family, or a tick of $10pp. Compare that to any other activity on the GC. Movies, bowling, putt putt, time zone etc etc costs more, and only for a limited 2 hour window. plenty of families had passes back when they were $250-$300 each with the 3 park passes back in the day, myself included.
  5. When I was there 2 weeks ago, JR looked exactly as it had 3 weeks prior to that. No progress.
  6. Fantastic review! japan has really come into our mindset in terms of a trip in the next 12-24 months due to covid since our USA trip was axed this year. Japan’s borders much more likely to open up short term. Disneysea was always top on the list if we go, but this has given me heaps more idea of what’s instore.
  7. Your original post refers to the name changing to reflect the riddle/clue, the answer to which is BuzzSaw. what outback theme are you speaking of? Steel Taipan doesn’t scream “outback theme” so why would BuzzSaw be re-themed to it? To be honest, BuzzSaw basically is an outback theme.. more so than a Steel Taipan anyway..
  8. And? Their is not heavy rail near the coast where all the tourists stay. So they have to get on a tram, to helensvale, to get to heavy rail. I feel like you’ve never tried to use the bus service to get around the Gold Coast. the light rail is already planned to the airport, so it’s running Coolangatta to Helensvale - so about 40km give or take. Adding an extra 8km to get you to coomera isn’t going to cost 10s of billions, nor would a spur line to the VTP properties.
  9. Sideshow Alley? nope.... Dreamworld. on the positive, as least some showmen who may have no other income are getting some cash from the hire....
  10. There may not be - i haven't run a business case on it. I'm certainly not advocating VTP pay the $300m of whatever it is. There was some initial talk about later stages of the light rail extending further north than Helensvale, with spur lines out to harbourtown etc. There may be an appetite even without VTP money from GCCC to have a spur line over to the theme parks and AOS, especially if the hotel precinct ever ends up going ahead. Would having a direct transport link without need to change bus/train/tram etc with the GC airport bring more people or revenue to the precinct, i believe it may.
  11. Well it’s certainly not themed to a Paradise. Far too much dirt and animal shit for that.
  12. The biggest issue you have is that you cutting through land used primarily for the studios for production, and you’ve also cut straight through some of the storage areas and where some of the pre-fab work is done for sets. given the popularity of the studio, I don’t think they will be keep to be losing land to something I personally don’t see providing much of a return at all. bus options exist already, walking isn’t that far for the able bodied. If VTP was really keen on a formal transport option to link the parks, they’d be better served campaigning the state and local govt, and contributing to extending the light rail north from helensvale station to the theme parks.
  13. Please let me know what rides Dreamworld have retired within 4 years of opening... given it’s so common, that shouldn’t be a problem for you....
  14. Even with a vaccine (which currently doesn't exist, and is likely not to have anywhere near the level of uptake required to make it useful if one ever does exist), 28 days without community spread is unlikely to happen. The 28 day thing gets Anastasia to the election day. I have no doubts it will be softened further or removed completely once the election result is decided (regardless of who wins).
  15. It’s called the TX7. runs roughly every 30mins.
  16. Not overly. the virus sheds over weeks beyond the infection period. There is also no data that reveals how long the virus remains measurable or discoverable within sewerage.
  17. took our first visit of the season to WnW today. the place is a mess. AquaLoop closed, looks like some form of groundwork taking place at the base of the tower, Mammoth closed Calypso Bay closed (sign says due to it being a seasonal attraction... funny, if a 30 degree day isn’t the correct season to operate, what is?) SurfRider closed - the upper sections of track on both sides are removed and not onsite that I could see. Sensors/cables just hanging down on the remaining track. Blackhole closed - surrounded by scaffolding on all sides, and sheeting covering the entire side facing Tornado. toilet block in H2O zone closed, obviously Calypso toilets closed too. pizza shack closed Photo kiosk closed so you have to go in the exit shop dripping wet to see/get your photos All slides in desperate need to repaints. Having been at WWW last weekend, WnW feels and looks like a second rate regional water park
  18. There is 3 cases in SE QLD. If no one has it, you can’t catch it. can’t keep living in fear.
  19. Will probably rest on the success of the takeover. reports during the week suggested without the takeover VR would require an approx $300m loan/finance to get through 2021.
  20. Maybe the guys from BGH Capital checking out their new investment..
