  1. I’m gonna say it’s actually not that incredible at all and @themagician has taken better shots...
  2. Movie world visit this afternoon. straight to WWF as it’s hot & very excited to see the improved/repaired effects. meh. yes the geysers is working now, which is great, as is the water towel leak BUT - water trough at rock fall no functional - no noise effects or smoke effects at train bridge scene whatsoever - no Indian chant or any noise effects or any campfire smoke at the Indian teepee scene. So it’s probably 2 steps forward, 2 steps back. the entirety of the lift hill Is pitch black, no lantern lights anymore, which I didn’t mind tbh... went for a second ride to see if maybe I got a busted timed run, but the same until.... turned the corner into the lift hill to see the boat before us was bottomed out/stopped pre-conveyer belt that takes you to the lift chain. We rammed into it and shunted it forward onto the conveyor. It wasn’t stacked as it was the first boat released post covid wipe down (we were second). we then stopped pre-conveyor, and the boat behind us rammed us forward onto the conveyor and up we went. Rounded the corner into the station only to shunt the boat in front again as the station was stacked. Boat behind us then shunted us. At this point there were some worried rice ops, some techs, heard something about turntable one. Our boat and the one behind were evacced off the side after waiting about 10mins as we couldn’t get up to the station. Got a “ride re-admission pass” for the trouble so straight to the front of Scooby was a good reward for the experience...haha Wristbands for DC Supervillians have also been removed, which I think is poor given more than half of the interactive scenes are inaccessible due to some work going on above the Capt Cold scene, which also blocks off the Joker/Harley, Luther & Grodd scenes. The Sinestro scene is also non-functional so having to pay for a wristband that only works on 2 scenes is just crap...
  3. They were still painting yesterday when I was there. Didn’t take any photos as it didn’t seem really necessary as it hasn’t progressed much since the last update.
  4. Here’s a new one.... an ice cream in a regular cone costs an extra 40 cents than if you want it in a cup...
  5. Exactly, my son is 135cm so can go on Rivals. Yet can’t go on The Claw.
  6. Thankfully won’t have to worry about that with my near 8 year old not able to ride it until he is 10 for some stupid reason. (Moreso stupid is the 10 year age restriction on Claw despite a 120cm height restriction... stupidity)
  7. Shockwave with its 2 empty seats between groups is a nightmare... we already know how slow it is at the best of time, current cycle only has 10 people on it... 🤯
  8. No sticky dots. Show that you have registered at the tent outside the lego store ramp, then head straight up to a sorter who directs you onto whichever booth/entry to go to. I’d say 3mins from crossing the zebra crossing from the carpark to being inside the park (granted I only had 2 people to register, and my iPhone pre-populated all the details)
  9. First DW visit post-closures right now. entry pretty seamless. headed for Sky Voyager first, line looked long but taking into account every second queue line closed and spacing figured it wasn’t really that bad. 2mins in queue and it’s closed due to technical difficulties. All good, that happens. Headed down to MDMC as its a big deal for my 7 year old. Staff member on entry, not open. “Technicians are running late today, will be open later on”. awesome. currently In the line for Escape from Madagascar - hoping for third time lucky...
  10. The company who is currently on the ASX, but is in the process of being bought out, is going to go bankrupt? seriously.. VR was a distributor of Films, whilst also owning their own cinema chains. this just means they won’t be the distributor. Has absolutely nothing to do with what films are shown in cinemas
  11. Dreamworld studios and the old blue lagoon site were different things, albeit near each other. I believe the toilet blocks at blue lagoon were used for the live audience at the shows.
  12. Had to laugh, on one of the largest GC community pages on fb, someone had a whinge that WWW has moved to seasonal and that their $99 pass is a massive rip off and should be discounted now. what’s more ridiculous is how many people are agreeing with her saying $99 is far too expensive for a year pass. the industry is doomed with idiots like this...
  13. Used to be 4 in there, been that way for at least 2 years now.
  14. Quoting Push... that’s akin to using a Ouija Board to summon the dead...
  15. You’d also have to have very high quality onboard video of past rides, which is unlikely they have due to technology at the time for anything pre 2000s
  16. You’ve haven’t been to DW in a while have you? BRC isn’t a deadend, it leads back to TI and DE. no one is going to walk to the RHLR as it’s closed and the only thing there. Sidewinder is at the end of a path and is closed so no one is walking down to it. ditto Buzzsaw.
  17. Review: Dreamworld’s post-covid reopening falls flat There were massive lines for Dreamworld’s reopening after a six-month coronavirus shutdown. But many visitors were disappointed when they finally got inside. The usual raucous of thrill-ride squeals was reduced to just a buzz for Dreamworld’s long-awaited reopening with signature rides closed and the park littered with ‘attraction unavailable signs’. Kids were dancing with excitement on the front lawn and punters were lined up in the hundreds at 10am, but once through the gates some thrill seekers – myself included – were left scratching their heads. Scream-inducing rides The Giant Drop and Buzz Saw had closed for maintenance – set to reopen on September 23 – while the Sidewinder rollercoaster has closed until October 30 as part of a longer remodel of the park. Just The Claw remained open for serious thrillseekers. “There was also Mick Doohan‘s Motocoaster and Tail Spin but they aren’t fast enough,” a teenage boy leaving the park at lunchtime said. He said “it was a bit of a bummer” and I had to agree. It wasn’t the Dreamworld I remembered. The entire ‘Corroboree’ section of the park had also been closed as part of the park’s covid-safe plan, meaning no animal viewings or popular Australian Sheep Shearing Show for visitors. Also closed due to COVID-19 was the Dreamworld Express, Mad Jungle Jam playground, and ABC Kids World, and, adding insult to injury, it was announced The Big Red Car and FloRider have both been permanently retired. It was not all bad news: There were hardly any queues for the rides that were open, even with time allowed for staff to sanitise between each ride. Families with young children looked to be having a fantastic time and one little girl was celebrating her birthday with her first visit to Dreamworld. The Tiger Island presentations at midday were a huge crowd-pleaser, as was the King Julian’s Theatre children’s show. And the Sky Voyager simulation across natural wonder of the United States was world-class entertainment. The quality of that ride gave me great hope for what Dreamworld will deliver in coming months and years, once the park’s top rides reopen. Across the road at WhiteWater World, all of the rides and pools were open and punters of all ages were having a brilliant time facing absolutely no lines. My memories of WhiteWater World involve a lot of time waiting in packed queues on metal staircases to get just one turn, so it came as quite a surprise to me that at 1pm on a sunny 24C day there were just a couple of dozen visitors at the water park. Those there were visibly enjoying the VIP-feel, with one mum shocked her two kids were the only ones on the popular Pipeline Plunge water-playground. https://www.couriermail.com.au/coronavirus/hibernation/review-dreamworlds-postcovid-reopening-falls-flat/news-story/7e398ea85944968f9cdb760efd8997f5 Funnily I didn’t see any opinion pieces criticising the VTP parks on their re-opening, especially MW which opened with more then half its slate out of action..
  18. So the ocean parade rides are now surrounded by water? You swim from one to the other? or did the river get infilled and they’ve chosen the same colouring for the concrete to what they previously use in ocean parade? as I can’t tell the difference between what is a body of water, and what is a walkway... It’s like Six Flags after Hurricane Katrina...
  19. Are you confusing the new coaster with the re-theme of sidewinder?
  20. What theme is that exactly.... haha looks to be as confused as the whole of Ocean Parade is.
  21. 7 News Gold Coast. “not all rides will be open straight away” *insert stock footage of Wipeout* You Don't Say! 🤦🤦‍♀️
  22. When I moved to the GC in 2006 I remember paying around $350 each for mine & my partners VTP passes, they had a monthly payment option. Wasn’t a DW pass holder back then so not sure what they were charging.
  23. From an article in the GCB today about DWs opening this week.. “Construction of a new $32 million rollercoaster, reaching speeds of more than 100km/hr, will start next month with the attraction on track to open late next year.”
