  1. As some people may know, around a month ago the old Kodak/photo centre in Main Street has been relocated next to the Daily Planet, with the old location closing and currently being turned into a new store. Here is my question: what are we thinking the new store could be? Looking on social media, Jaggs Journeys has said it could be a new Looney Tunes store, while TSPN thinks it could be a Wizard of Oz store.
  2. Could it maybe be an extension for Nickelodeon Land? Looking at the qldglobe site it shows the location of the slab in-between New Atlantis and Nick. Maybe a new flat or two with some of Nickelodeon's new properties (Paw Patrol etc.) to update the area like with Marvin at MW? Whatever comes there, I would like for the white sheds at Leviathan (maintenance/station) to be covered up. Maybe paint it green to match the surrounding area like what Disney does?
  3. I think the problem with that is that licensing rights go through the BBC, not the ABC IIRC, so it wouldn't be the same bundle that Dreamworld got for things like Bananas/Play School etc.
  4. I was thinking about it recently and this is what I would to to KWB: Split the area into three minilands similar to the previous Dreamworks: the lands would be Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry and Flintstones. The Looney Tunes area would consist of the carousel and Road Runner with some updated facades The Tom and Jerry area would consist of a rethemed Marvin/Cages, with two new rides replacing Speedys and Railroad The Flintstones area would consist of a rethemed JDS with a play structure
  5. I agree. I don’t see a problem with cloned coasters, and it’s not like it is the worst here. In the US there is cloned coasters in the same states. An example in Florida is Barnstormer and Woody/Trollercoaster at Magic Kingdom/Universal Studios are the same coaster, the only difference is that they are mirrored. Same as FOTH and the Dragon Coaster at IOA/Legoland, except the latter has a dark ride section.
  6. We can start to see the layout of the ride based on the footers. As they are being poured, I am guessing in the next few weeks we will start to see the track for both rides. It seems they are using space effectively, the SFC is literally right up against the studio roads and the Boomerang is in a very tight area. I guess this means we will never get expansions due to the lack of space.
  7. There is a hole in the ground where the drop is supposed to be for the SFC (thanks to Brett Doohan on Facebook)
  8. If true, hopefully something better than them can replace it. When I went in Feb this year they were running very slow as they were speed controlled. I would be happy if a flat or two replace it, the more thrilling the better. Also looks like the golfing has been quietly removed and replaced by a picnic area.
  9. I've done the math and the combined company will have more than 50% of coasters in some states at their parks: Ohio, Massechusits, North Carolina, Missouri, Illinois, Virginia and Oklaholma will have more than 50% of coasters at the new Six Flags. I am opposed to the merger as it means some markets where CF and SF are directly competing will have a total monopoly, for example Six Flags Discovery Kingdom and California's Great America are currently competing, if the merger goes through then they will be sister parks. Then add Knotts and SFMM and they have 4 parks in 1 state, as well as 49.5% of all coasters at those 4 parks. Expect less additions as some areas will have a theme park monopoly. Could we see the Six Flags name come to the other parks? The new company name is using the Six Flags name opposed to the Cedar Fair one, and most parks that were acquired by SF have changed to Six Flags (name). Possibly we could see some parks get "Six Flags (name)" (Michigans Adventure, Valleyfair, Kings Island etc.) while the more historical ones (Knotts, Cedar Point) get "(name): A Six Flags Theme Park" Finally could we see DC/Looney Tunes come to CF, with Peanuts coming to SF respectively? The press release said that they would continue to use them properties, and previous buyouts from SF/CF have gotten their areas transformed into DC/Looney Tunes and Peanuts respectively, like with Nick to Peanuts at the Paramount Parks.
  10. It feels that the new area is in a weird hybrid of both Dreamland and Ocean Parade. The buildings and theming look like something from the latter, however the aesthetic, path and map make it feel as it is in Dreamland.
  11. I know that, I was just thinking it could've been a lot better if it was like the Seven Dwarves Mine Train with a dark ride section. The theming is really good but unfortunately that doesn't make up for the lack of length.
  12. I would say it is that style of track with Big Bear Mountain trains. Speaking of that ride I am hoping Jungle Rush is longer that. It seems underwhelming for Disney standards, that is only 50sec including lift hill.
  13. Could it have a chance of being relocated instead of scrapped? It was added less than 2 years ago, I would like to think it is being moved to make way for something in the area.
  14. The drop area has been filled in with dirt completely (thanks to Jaggs Journeys)
  15. Looks like the Intensity/IT maze is getting repainted for DCeased, but unfortunately they are making it a white shed. Hopefully the Arkham building isn’t repainted with “Stage 10” on the side during the WoO transformation. (Thanks to TPSN)
  16. I think it is a similar version down here to Universal vs. Disney, only with Dreamworld as Universal and Village as Disney. Universal is trying to create many new rides and improve guest experience to get guests to come back. Disney however, knows no matter how long construction takes on their rides or how good or bad guest experience is, people will still come because of the number of parks and things to do, as well as Disney being more well known. This is why Village still gets more visitors than Dreamworld from my guess. In winter, if an interstate visitor buy a Dreamworld pass they only get Dreamworld and Skypoint, while if they buy a Village pass they get Movie World, Sea World, Wet n Wild and Paradise Country. People would think “Why go to Dreamworld when there is so much to do down the road?” Yes Dreamworld is introducing a Dreamland/Ocean Parade/Rivertown/Flier, but most people won’t go for a kids land/kids rides, I would expect more people to wait for Rivertown. And even then, Village is introducing WoO/Surfrider, so in this case I feel new additions wont matter if both are doing the same thing.
  17. I get why they have done this, but a big problem with the Fast Pass only option is how expensive it is compared to Dreamworld. I have done the math and to do each ride available at Dreamworld once (16) is worth around $8.12 per ride, while at Movie World fast track for seven rides will cost around $25 for each ride. Also the Five ride Ride Express pass for Dreamworld costs around $70 these holidays, while you have to pay $110 more for seven rides down the road. But as I have said, it’s most likely because the investment company wants more money, and will do anything to get an extra cent.
  18. Jaggs Journeys has done a tour of the new Ocean Parade area, includes video of the dodgems and splash pad: One of the things to notice is the Dodgems now have a water effect projection, looks great. Also includes video of the first piece of the Dreamworld Flyer being installed.
  19. Just heard about this now. Can't say I am shocked. Village most likely removed it to force people to pay for fast pass so they can get more money and blame it on "guest feedback". Just another example of how Village is slowly becoming worse and worse under the investment company, who just cares about the money.
  20. Six Flags Great America, Dorney Park and Valleyfair also do, and I would imagine many other parks would.
  21. The new vintage car trains look great, a massive step up from the current white, generic ones. The Jungle Rush entrance looks great as well, looks better than the other entrances at Dreamworld right now.
  22. The area looks very good, the only problems I have is the Chinese look remaining on Gamesite, as well as the different colour of concrete from the rest of the area.
  23. According to this article the hotel has been accepted and Village will be moving ahead in building it. https://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/subscribe/news/1/?sourceCode=GCWEB_MRE170_a_GGL&dest=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.goldcoastbulletin.com.au%2Fproperty%2Fvillage-roadshow-hotel-green-light-for-333m-movie-world-hotel%2Fnews-story%2F90081176bce16aa34bbaf1bb5dd307c7&memtype=anonymous&mode=premium If anyone could post the article here that would be great (paywall)
