Haha watching people have their arms snapped back by an a accelerator never gets old. Very much enjoyed this at Knotts the other day (def the most forceful launch ever). I would holding on with Arkham because whilst it doesn't have the restraint to beat up uour head like before, it certainly ain't smooth.

Better the ride is finished and solid than it gets to opening day and pulls a Lightning Rod -
I would say the train was in bad shape overall, one wheel carrier has failed and its caused a cascade failure of the whole train.

Ok I've moved/removed a bunch of posts from the last couple days. Can we please try and keep each topic in its own thread so we don't get mega threads. Also take personal insults and bitching to another forum. -
Topgolf attraction coming to the Gold Coast
rappa replied to rac2703's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I just can't believe some of the stupid close minded self centered posts in this thread! The good news is that all of you saying how shit this is are in no way its target market. Top Gold is one of the fastest growing entertainment destinations in the US. It's meant for socializing and fun (which seems to be a bit of a foreign concept here) with a bit of wacking of a Golf Ball for a laugh thrown in. It's no more Golf than Putt Putt is. As for it being a rip off for mansion dwellers, beside that being a real bogan thing to say, there is a MASSIVE market for this. It's not yuppies, it's cashed up tourists and young people with disposable income. If it's not for you because you're a theme park nerd (nothing wrong with that) then as a theme park enthusiasts surely you can see what a great move and investment this is for VRTP which means more cash to buy you more rides. One thing enthusiasts do is lose site of the big picture and only worry about what is important to their own interests. That's a bad thing. I can't wait to have TG to go to myself. It will be awesome for tourists and locals alike. If we want a massive entertainment precinct then we need to cater to all sorts of folks. As for $35m. You've got land prep, site works, infrastructure, licensing, the facility itself, massive amounts of AV and Tech. I can't see that easily costing that much. -
Each to their own. Possible question the public at large rather than just a couple forum enthusiasts before making sweeping park changes like music choice.

Joz I feel I need to point out to you (because among many other things I'm quite the expert in construction) that in Australia we refer to them as Footings and not Footers as they do in America. In would hope you will take this completely unnecessary correction on board or we will have to have an extensive discussion topic about this.

So you're not going to take anymore? Ever? Or did you mean LATEST and just felt like demonstrating your level of comprehension of the English language once again? -
Man hospitalised after falling out of Dreamworld Log Ride
rappa replied to Theme Park Girl's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Exactly, there are a small portion of people who can't help it and are genuinely disabled. Which is why they have the relevant medical certificates for those conditions and can use special entry and so forth. Of course I'm not going to be having a go at someone who has no control over their unfortunate condition. But as Alex B said, that is the minority. And it's exactly those that "can't walk" when it suits them that disgust me. And then you look at what they are turning their children into too, that's really sad. Then you have the other group that have a minor condition and then use that as an excuse to give up and take the easy route. I'm sure a couple of you above would love to be able to run around and get the weight off if you could when others are like "oh well I won't try now cause I can take this easy option and society will pay for it." America doesn't understand the word No, fortunately Australia isn't like that. -
No chance of the rocking lift, simply not possible/feasible. I'd be against projectors in favour of scenic and simple lighting/smoke effects. Something that's easy and cheap to maintain has a much better chance of longevity. The peppers ghost boxes need to be restored though cause right now they may as well just be a screen. The sets need re-lighting again and the image needs to stay on all the time in black so you don't see the video start/stop.

Most definitely. You'll find many things with rides that you might think are OTT are insurance related. -

Let's be clear. Disney is owned by shareholders... The ONLY reasons they have all these ADA facilities is because they have to by law and it makes them money. There is no kindness of the heart here. They simply know if they spend all that extra money it makes them money. A massive amount of revenue for Disney's American parks is fat asses that want to drive scooters around all day rather than walk and clog up the entire park and are mostly just really horrible people. Can safely say I'm more than happy our parks aren't targeting that market. -

Disney's seperate loading areas are nothing to do with being more accepting and all to do with not affecting the efficiency of the ride. This just isn't feasible in Australia with our much smaller budgets. Adding those extra loading areas would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not more. Thats doable on a 100 million dollar attraction, but not on a 10 million dollar ride. You our also have many more 'disabled' people in America (I say that because over there "I'm too fat to walk" is considered disabled) due to a higher population so you need to cater for that. Add to that the inability the US has to say NO to anyone about anything and that's where you get this perception they are more accomodating. -

Australia has much higher safety standards than America. Geeze there are Parks in America where I've seen several ride opens literally stand on a restraint to squash a fat idiot in there. -

Doesn't really change the IMPOSSIBLE stance though. Probably best to have some factual basis prior to stating an absolution. -

There is a large commercial kitchen for outback in the rear of the stars cafe building. It was built the same time as outback for that purpose. There isn't the room or demand at outback for the prep cooking that is done there as it is also utilised for other park needs. Final cooking/plating etc of all outback meals is done in the custom designed kitchens at the outback spectacular itself. Most all of this information is given to you if you experience The Summit vip outback package or go on a school group tour there. It's all pretty common practice in large banquet style cooking. -

I'm sure given the level of detail already seen the area will look amazing when complete. We will all have to sit back and wait. -

Actually it wouldn't because you'd have to drive them all the way back around to the park security entrance. There is no access to outback through the studios. -

That video is a great find. Didn't even know that existed. Whilst cheesy as hell it really makes the park look amazing. -

I'd be happy with a forceful hyper coaster with a long layout over a giga coaster that half the budget is blown on the first drop. -

Last year USH did an amazing walk through 'gauntlet' scare in the backlot. Basically you had to navigate the whole thing to get out and it was massive and scary as hell. They had other 'purge' areas you had to navigate in order to reach other mazes which basically put you face to face with actors trying to stop your progress. Was very effective.
