  1. I think the huge parcel of land is very helpful given SW has the height limits. Maybe this could be the place to put that Firechaser Express clone I've said the coast needs?? You can all start coming up with theming now Either that or build a kick ass rapids ride!
  2. Yes this is a shame, it was my first inverted coaster (I remember standing on my dad's feet to fudge the height) but she had a good run in adverse conditions. Pretty much been a given that this announcement was coming for some time, but it's sometimes the case those that are aware of such things just can't say so until it's released.
  3. The article loses any shred of credibility it had when it states half of ALL holiday makers base their travel around theme parks. As if!!
  4. Does your car which I bet is less than 18 years old work everyday without ever breaking?
  5. ^wow did I just read that? How about NO, just NO. Completely agree with Joz. By that notion Flea33(and why you have a username almost identical to another member I will never no) should we have an extreme option on the carosel at Sea World? Should we have ride option for Big Red Car ride with an 80km hour launch section out the back? No, see how rediculous these ideas sound when you spin it the other way?
  6. The problem with any sort of Technology show is that it will be out of date the day it opens, however something like Backdraft which shows you physical 'special effects' will have long lasting staying power. ... still sad Universal got ride of that as it was pretty awesome.
  7. It's a bit sad. Id like to see them work with an enthusiast group or something and run the genuine engine one Sunday a month or something like this as a feature. If not then give the engines to people who will do something with them and keep them running. Whilst I think of it, does Currumbin Sanctuary still have the baby steam engine and run it from time to time?
  8. Yes but the park has to stay relevant to it's target audience. Warner Bros pushed WB Kids into the market. The park obviously needed to rebrand the same.
  9. 'They' didn't change it, Warner Bros did! They changed the shows on TV, the parks just followed suit.
  10. They have a great transport (the monorail) but it has been discussed at length the ticketing issues with it I believe.
  11. Yeah but it's a major expansion. Look at how stagnant the park was before. Universal Orlando is a bit of an exception has they have just really decided they want to go out and target Disney's business. Look at Disneyland, no major NEW ride for over 10 years.
  12. Was no difference with Radiator Springs. It's a really good argument for if you spend big you get big returns. But you have to remember before you say that our parks should do this is that these parks might go 5-10 years without a new attraction. Where as here we tend to want something every year.
  13. I think they had 4 trains AlexB and ran 3 sometimes in peak so they can probably still keep 3 up in peak season.
  14. Looks like the lead wheelset was smashed off the track by the tree leaving it hanging and subsequent wheelsets were damaged contacting the tree until it lost momentum.
  15. Yeah like I said, I don't see it having to be (or working as) a ticketed even for years yet, it needs to build and build to a cult 'must do' level before that. But once it's a that point it simply won't be able to expand any further as an event (number of nights, size, etc) because it will simply be too expensive to run to make money. But with the event getting bigger and bigger each year, I can see it in 4 or 5 years time getting to the size and popularity of the big US events (well maybe them, 5 years ago, but that's still big).
  16. I would say that's end for train 3 of Ninja. Any of the bogies that hit the tree are likely scrap now and they'd have to make new ones made so I'm guessing this will now be the spares train.
  17. What do you all think about how the park could possibly make a leap in a few, or several years time to a paid ticketed event? The event is getting bigger and better every year and eventually to grow any further to the level of something like Knotts or Universal it will have to start charging to get it.
  18. Even tower of terror in Tokyo has it's own story.
  19. My only concern with Lego is a good ride would like probably be expensive and a cheap ride would be shit, no need to be careful. I'm still keen for another generic movie themed non franchise attraction to be the next big thing. And yes, people want info, but the "oh I've found this out but can't tell" thing gets old. And just so you know, if you do work there, anything told to you at work is still off limits for disclosure even 'if you just heard it.'
  20. Yes myfun is a separate company to the parks.
  21. Some people pushing the envelopes of their employment.... Anyway Id like to see more, smaller mazes, focusing highly on being scary as hell and less on extensive sets. The mazes last year got me we "wow look the detail is amazing" but weren't holy shit balls I messed my pants. Which I think comes from limited actors in a small space. Is like to see the terror factor upped this year possibly using now high tech gags in mazes like Knott's for example is doing. Oh and let's shorten the length of the maze and increase group spacing. What's everyone thoughts on this?
  22. You could be right and perhaps it has been put on hold as a new gate somewhere or something has caused a shift of immediacy direction. Look at mini cars, it was happenjng, then we got pola bear pre school instead and now a year later we have cars coming in. No reason to think Wild couldn't be the same.
  23. If this operator is so great. How about getting his name and sending in a staff commendation about him? Positive comments are really great along with the negative.
