  1. In regards to "the inmates are running the asylum"... Harley Quinn says it in the game here: In regards to the 'tower' Movie World is constructing... I'm assuming it will be the Arkham Asylum clock/bell tower. Search in google images to see what I'm talking about
  2. Totally agreed. Gotta love VRTP... especially when they surprise us (ie. not just the standard new attraction every 3/4 years Ardent style). I was just thinking that this $2 mill they are spending on LW will actually probably bring them a significant return on their money alone. Then you add in all the other new stuff and the park will probably power along attendance wise
  3. Not to mention the fact that Jet Rescue has a better layout and has 2 launch sections to keep the momentum going. Motocoaster just dies out. Dreamworld should have gone with the Vekoma model as was (apparently) originally planned
  4. Thanks very much for the article. Can always rely on you for the good stuff themeparkgc. As far as I'm aware, this is the first time the park has actually referred to a new 'superhero hub'. I mean we all knew it was happening, but until now they haven't acknowledged it as such. Looking forward to the end of this year/beginning of next year - Movie World has given me a very good reason to finally make a return trip to the Gold Coast
  5. Glad to hear something's going on. Although to be honest I'm slightly surprised they are removing the dilapidated building facade... I was just thinking today that they might leave it as it could be re-used as 'asylum theming'. Hopefully this means they have bigger plans
  6. You would think Dreamworks world NOT be happy
  7. Looks like they haven't finished the logo/artwork for this ride yet. The website page just uses the same background as Batwing Spaceshot too. I notice the website blurb says that you will rocket through Arkham Asylum. It also says you will have to beware of the Joker and other monsters. I really hope this will mean actual physical sets and props rather than just being represented by the on-board audio
  8. I was just doing a bit of research into the world of Arkham City and Arkham Asylum. It's a really fantastic creative concept and quite a scary fantasy. The types of 'criminals' being held in the asylum only add to the atmosphere... villains like Scarecrow, Joker etc. Most of the artwork I have seen that relates to the story (via the game etc.) is very detailed and conveys a strong sense of darkness. My question is - how well do we think Movie World are going to recreate this? It is certainly an ambitious project but this also means they need to pull it off well and spend top dollar on theming for it to work. It doesn't seem like there's much time left to create anything really special BUT then again most of the theming I assume would be pre-built off site, only needing to be installed. What does everyone else think? I have my fingers crossed as usual
  9. Glad to hear they have fixed up the rough braking and also added the shade structure. In regards to audio on the cars, I have a funny feeling that it won't be much longer before there is no audio at all. I can just see it being something they let go if it gives them too much trouble, unfortunately
  10. Just wanted to say thanks to Gazza for the update. I'm keen to follow the progress on this ride and it's interesting to hear that it's already gutted
  11. Geez I hope this is an issue they actually fix and not just leave dead like so many other effects
  12. LOL!! The descriptions aren't too bad. This one for Scooby seems perfectly adequate: 'ZOINKS! Just like Scooby, you’ll be part terrier, part TERRIFIED with the scariest and spookiest rollercoaster ever created! What will you do when the ghouls and gargoyles jump out to get you? The coaster cars are just like in the Scooby-Doo movie, complete with laser lighting and sound effects, state of the art animatronics and some mystery to keep you guessing until the very end. Rooby Rooby roo!!' I am not a huge fan on the new site, but I do kinda like the background images for some of the rides. Helps to build up each rides theme
  13. The background image on the website reminds me of the sort of photo montages all those fanboy theme park sites and facebook groups love to create so much. Interesting to see Lethal Weapon's track heavily featured. Guess this means it definitely won't be getting repainted. Either that or the website guys just had no clue
  14. I think it's GREAT that Movie World has begun releasing info and building up the suspense for a ride as far away as September. I also think it's great that Movie World are adding 2 new attractions this year. Go Village Roadshow! You really know how to do theme parks well
  15. This is like a lesson in how many times can you re-theme rides before letting them die. In Dreamworld's case - A LOT
  16. Not leaving much to the imagination are you! You are pretty much telling people exactly what to create. Plus most of it is what Movie World is (possibly) already building!
  17. For me it's definitely themeparkgc. In my opinion he has some of the best mainstream ideas and presents everything really well. I have to admit though I was staggered when I opened up MikeMac's proposal... the graphics are fantastic! Really professional looking. The trouble is I think the ride selection for the Canyon is pretty terrible. I don't think any of you could say you'd be happy if MW chose those rides for a new themed area. So themeparkgc is my fave!
  18. Thanks Gazza! Looking forward to hearing about Madagascar. It sounds like a neat concept to me although a review I read online rated it as pretty average
  19. It would be absolutely fantastic if Movie World not only added Green Lantern, the Lethal replacement/refurb but also an entirely new ride by the end of the year. That would truly shoot Dreamworld out of the water
  20. Me too. I'm about to turn 30. I'm like a sad old theme park nerd. Oh well, if it's good enough for TPR it's good enough for me. Are you ever too old to enjoy a theme park?
  21. Agreed. It looks like everyone is really excited about this park. Sydneysiders are desperate for it. I had a look through some of the submissions sent into the planning department. It was interesting to see the large number of people writing in support, especially young people. I think it's going to be a big hit
