  1. Relevant enough for Warner Bros. to build a whole new park overseas with those characters in it. Marvin the Martian Rocket Ride was in the top left of the satellite view @themagician posted. Kid's areas are Dreamworld's biggest strength and Movie World's biggest weakness - the park is aching for some more attractions the whole family can do, and not just tweens & adults. I've said it once and i'll say it again, Driving School needs to bugger off pronto and the entirity of that shed needs to be a giant air-conned space packed to the brim with kid's rides like Mermaid Lagoon at DisneySea or Warner Bros. World's Cartoon Junction & Bedrock lands. The facilities and storage that their tech department uses in the other half of the former Looney Tunes River Ride shed can be easily built/relocated whilst it'd be an order of magnitude harder to build something that competes with Dreamworld somewhere else in the park. As for the outside area - you could literally cmd+c & cmd+v a whole page off Zamperla's website and it wouldn't matter - so long as the space continues to feel well themed and has plenty of shade, food choices and things to see/do they'd have something that would rival Dreamworld.
  2. Not sure if folks have noticed but Aussie World's website has gotten a refresh and earlier today they launched a cool new TV Ad: I think it's all really neat and gives the big parks a solid run for their money. What do you think?
  3. @AlexB is on the money - i've written elsewhere that a SkySwing overhaul would be perfect to give new life to the tower. With the removal of Tower of Terror's station, they could go to work on expanding both Tiger Island & ABC Kids World into more immersive themed areas. @XxMrYoshixX logic tells me Intamin would probably conduct a few engineering calculations before commencing a major structural modification. That's not the case. Update: Tower of Terror's opening date has been pushed back from the 13th September to the 20th September.
  4. Tower of Terror holds so much sentimental value for me but that ride needs to go. The continued down time isn't great for business. Getting rid of Tower of Terror would open up the Giant Drop to an overhaul with a new gondola.
  5. They're nuts if they think a hundred bucks is going to fly for a morning walk for Rivals. Sure, the first few sessions are going to be packed, but once when all the cool theme park kids have gotten there "first" before the other theme park kids bookings are going to dry up. When people ZMOT (research) the climb, they're going to compare it to other local climbs. Something iconic like Story Bridge's Day Climb is $129 whilst Skypoint's Day Climb (which serves up incredible views) is just $75. To further the point, Skypoint's Sunrise Climb is only a few bucks more than the Rivals climb, and I would unquestionably choose sunrise views of the Gold Coast over Movie World's carpark. Now if the walk went behind the scenes for Rivals and showed guests some of the interesting technology that goes on in the station and go over some basic behind the scenes stuff then it might have some great value but who honestly knows - without any information on the Movie World website (certainly nothing on the experiences page) beyond a little blurb at purchase it's anyone's guess. Pretty par for the course though considering Sea Jellies isn't on Sea World's front page yet. :P
  6. Cheers @Brad2912 for the shots, in the interest of discussion i've just done a dodgy-ass photoshop - here's a few take-aways: The artist rendering is super deceptive to look as aesthetically pleasing as possible (forced perspective etc.) so take it all with a grain of salt A section of queue line is outside There's a massive mezzanine foyer inside? It seems based off my colour-coded blocks that the wavy tarp roof will continue past Green Bean? Because of the forced perspective it's too hard to tell if the shops on the left will replace 1:1 the shops there before, will continue past the Gold Rush sign (look at the where the existing building cladding ends) or will jot out more. I just want to add, this building is not theming, lol. My take is it'll be a nice enough looking facade but I reckon it might be jarring in Main Street wedged up against the other facades. By comparison, DisneySea's new Soarin' attraction is being built in the Mediterranean Harbour and as such is getting a full old stone-building design to fit in.
  7. If they're going to demolish that entire area they really need to go whole hog and get rid of the channel neighbouring the path up to the Big Brother Cafe - I feel it's odd to leave that there still.
  8. Good to see Sea World's great new attraction isn't even on their website's front page yet, despite the press release going out already. Oh dear. 😅
  9. They should be acting like the world-class tourist destination that they are, not some carnie depot with semi-permanant rides. Maybe instead of complaining about needing a DA every-time they move a ride they just invest in some stuff that's worth keeping? The only area i'll concede is needing DA's for seasonal activities like the pop-up ice-skating rink is over the top. The park should always take precedence over some twerpy residents (within reason of course) but let's not forget that ultimately it's kind of their fault to begin with, what with building a drop tower without the correct DA's in the first place.
  10. Coming in 2019 - Main Event, Citywalk and Wildlife Park.
  11. There's people on the rides. I think you should re-watch the segment - https://7plus.com.au/sunday-night/
  12. I'm positively sure if any of the family of the victims wanted to visit the park again that Dreamworld would stop at nothing to make sure their visit is stress-free and welcoming, however, it's a wholly different situation to filming a news piece inside the park whilst a coronial inquest is ongoing.
  13. Filming was before open and during open. His pieces to camera was a mixture of times throughout the day and Kim was in the park to see the rides running so your point and theory is definitely, 100% not the case. Do you really think that they went to film ride testing but planned instead to try and pull a fast one on Dreamworld, smuggled in Kim Dorset somewhere between gatehouse sign in and the park itself, and despite being chaperoned at all times by the park’s team they were never once stopped whilst they filmed talking heads, pieces to camera and overlay that would’ve taken at least to two hours to shoot?
  14. The great irony here is that in defence of notion that there's nothing strange/suspect happening here you have to presume that the journo had to be dodgy to get the story across the line in the first place. Ardent & Dreamworld has barristers and crisis PR who would 100% need to pre-approve any involvement in a story about the incident, so then after nearly two years of refusal out of respect of the inquiry, in my mind I think "why are they suddenly getting involved with news/media so close to the inquiry & what's their incentive of being involved with a piece like this?"
  15. Yeah, nahhhh. The park's standard form of reply on any media request regarding the Rapids Ride so far has been refusal out of respect of the inquiry, so in that regard a lot of people would respect the park's decision to not let media inside the park to openly report on the Rapids Ride, especially when the park's open and guests and staff are within ear-shot. Very strange.
  16. I'm really confused why Dreamworld would let a film crew and journo into the park to create content that's ultimately generating negative publicity for the park.
  17. It's almost like they're setting up their theme parks* up for sale. *Includes Skypoint, the propper-upper of attendance figures.
  18. Not sure sorry buddy - as much as i'm a Dreamworld history buff the only history I have with that ride is that it made me nearly yack as a kid.
  19. There's definitely some stuff in the works to bring it to a bigger audience, but it's early stages. I might have to get John back down to the park and see what they're up to - maybe that'll inspire him?
  20. Cheers mate! The Wipeout was installed as part of Ernst & Young's / IOOF Friendly Society's plan to get Dreamworld out of receivership after Bruce Jenkins' vision didn't go to plan - basically it didn't have anything to do with John. Same with the chairlift - according to John he had nothing to do with it's installation and was one of the things Bruce did. I think a lot of people are similar in that regard - John's understandably very private these days and as we all get older more and more of what was originally there is bulldozed, archived or just lost. It's a real shame. I think what he didn't say speaks louder than what he did. I definitely have the intention of doing more projects like this in the future - this isn't the last piece by any stretch, but one step at a time. And yeah, he paid just like everyone else.
