That's awesome man! Congrats. Good on you.

From what i've seen on Facebook it's operating sans longboards on each end of the ride and no water canons. I'll have to drop in over the next few days and check it out.

Here's a query in regards to all the "DANGER CONSTRUCTION SITE" signs - I might be wrong but when it comes to say Disney building things in their theme parks, there isn't these signs littered on the fences. What's the difference here? -

That's re-assuring. Here's hoping you're on the money (especially with a name like @WipeoutDreamworldFan no less, hah.) -

Cheers @Adventures With JWorld - you da real MVP. I'm going to be blindly optimistic and hope it's not a real cycle they're going to have when it's open to guests, because if so, the lack of iconic Wipeout moments (the opposite twisting arms into an inversion & and the locked inversion into a free-spin) and just in general not going upside down at all will disappoint guests as much as Scooby's lack of theming does. This is an iconic super-flip model, not doing inversions just plain defeats the purpose of having it round (for those unaware of its history, I highly recommend this Park Vault article for more information.) If this is the best it can do with its retrofit, it should've been bulldozed. -
I don't get it - so Bugs is gonna be in Caville from time to time? Is that it?

The idea of leveraging nostalgia, the steps to achieving it and even building an i-Ride and whacking it in the old cinema is an idea they've copied liberated right down to the word use. Not mad, just amusing. http://ourworlds.co/2017/news/whats-dreamworlds-next-move/ -

Just to de-rail this thread some more... The Tower of Terror is one of my all time favourites, it's just a classic for me, AND i'd totally support removing it tomorrow because: it's ridiculously loud, especially when compared to any modern ride it divides the park and the white tin tunnel is a horrendous sight it doesn't do what it advertises anyway (go 160k/ph and 115m) It's nearly 21 years old and well into its twilight years anyway given the current state of electronics and ride systems Since Dreamworld are so into pinching my ideas i'll throw them another one i've already written about - scrap Tower of Terror & Giant Drop, keep the tower, and install a Sky Jump (Falcon's Fury/Ikaros) - then you'd actually have a modern thrill ride that would be as terrifying as Rivals, would market well, wouldn't cost a whole lot to retrofit and could be integrated into the Rocky Hollow space. -
Dreamworld - 2017 Log Ride reopening
Slick replied to DaptoFunlandGuy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
So technically folks can now: Use the first back-rest as a seat and use the main steel frame holding the roof up to hold on Squat in front of the first back rest and use the two circular-shaped braces to prop themselves up Provided you're sitting behind the first back rest, you could push your head against the roof, put your knees against or on top of the back rest and use the main steel frame to hold on and brace If you're sitting behind the first back rest, you could simply squat stand and use the frame to brace yourself and maintain your squat stand If you're in the back, given the height of the circular steel braces, you could squat stand like the previous example If you're in the back, you could seat on the very rear back rest, and use the steel frame to brace yourself and hold on I genuinely hope i'm missing something and i'm 100% wrong. -

What are the acronyms for? To speed up typing. And i'm lazy. And this is an enthusiast forum so everyone gets it. And those who don't ask. Hopefully that answers your question. If it doesn't, you can get in touch with me by pressing Alt+F4. -
Not quite. Craig's mentioned in at least one Parkz article that they're going to clean up Giant Drop's pathways, and naturally if you're going to redo the queue, you'll probably do something semi-nice with it along the way (btw, by all accounts it's running up parallel along the Tower of Terror track and then across the train tracks, but that could have since been abandoned since from first hand experience being that close to the incline is deafening). Also, given how, uhhh.. we'll say "inconsistently" Giant Drop's been running lately, a major refurb wouldn't surprise me at all.

The park was supposed to do Trolls, Log Ride, Wipeout & rumoured to do Steam Train this year, so there's four off the board right there already. Plus I can guarantee you the dark ride isn't going in until the i-Ride is built, so that's 2019. The park has suffered immeasurably through, as they say, death by a thousand cuts, and to undo that damage, it'll take a thousand figurative band-aids, like fixing the weird bridges, none of which on their own deserve a pat on the back and should've either never happened or been fixed years ago (Chairlift stations etc.). And old saying comes to mind, that is: Craig Davidson & Gary Weiss would do well to keep this in mind with what they do with the park in the years ahead. This just isn't an industry that satiates short term investment. They're better tasked with creating something out of a fundamental desire to make something for future generations and families to enjoy and profiting off that in the long term (which is akin to what Clark Kirby is doing with the Village chain of parks or the Disney family by obvious extension) than scrambling at the last minute and putting cages on logs. -
For those wanting to skip the article and paywalls, here's the major points: Brogent i-Ride going into the Dreamworld Cinema, essentially a "Soarin' over Oz" Four gondolas with ten seats each totalling 40 seats "4D" experience (which doesn't necessarily confirm 3D glasses or not at this stage) Will have "wind, sound, light, mist and various scents" A Dark ride will go in behind it once complete where the Mine Ride was Some various thoughts of mine and typical OurWorlds rambling can be found here. No doubt when @Richard wakes up from his snooze he'll craft up something a little more professional.

Movie World November 2017 Improvements

FYI, there's a reason why signatures are disabled. I digress - glad they're adding in some much needed shade and bench space for those waiting for friends to ride Rivals. I do wonder at what point they convert the old studio gate into a ticket booth (kudos to @pin142 for that idea, btw). -

Adding seat belts is quite a common affair in the industry. Adding complicated harnesses, adding cages and fundamentally changing rides from the original spec is a whole other thing IMO. -
My eyes don't burn when I look at the train station or the giant spam can that is the Tower of Terror. Semi un-related - anyone else remember the cute little train set that came to life around the train station clock?

I spoke to the owner - turns out IMAX were going to charge him close to 20k to have them removed, TLDR, he told them to get stuffed, so the signs remain turned off.
-
Traditional IMAX is shot on 70mm, 15 perf film that is so large they ditch the audio track on the negative and throw it through the camera with air blasters, the result of which though is a picture that's considered the holy grail of cinema - the perspective, the resolution, not to mention the crazy audio setups they put into theatres was nothing short of incredible. The problem with such a huge negative was that it was insanely expensive to print film for theatric releases. To bridge the gap, IMAX started introducing a replacement digital system, which was pretty damn bad. Think two, 2K projectors creating a dithered image versus the equivalent of a 12K image. It's just not the same. Their new, laser based 4K dithering system is a lot better, but still a huge cry from the original GT 70mm projectors they used in places like Sydney. TLDR, IMAX film was massive. Huge. Inspiring. But it was expensive, and all the things that made IMAX film so good still haven't been faithfully recreated yet.
