  1. From my knowledge it makes that sort of noise when they're wearing in new parts.
  2. I've actually had a few OurWorlds photos copied onto that Facebook page with the watermark purposefully cropped out. Both times it was mentioned and sure enough photos were instantly removed and all traces deleted but no apology or anything for the poor effort in ripping someone else's work off. Sounds like another website I know.
  3. In news that'll surprise no one, there's still a gigantic hole where the cemetery used to be. I'm more sarcastic over here, but in a nutshell, nothing's changed much.
  4. Went on Friday to checkout Tiger Cub Kindy & Tiger Island. For a temp attraction, Tiger Cub Kindy's pretty awesome. Being up close to the cubs and just being able to watch them chillout and play is a nice change of pace. Tiger Island is gooooooone. So yeah, there's that. If you want to see a few more, you know what to do.
  5. I heard in the grapevine it's going to be renamed "Six Flags over Time Warner licenses for the financial year ending 2017."
  6. Hah! I had a good chuckle at this. Actually unlike Cyclone it really rips into the station quite fast. It's almost a little un-nerving the first time you experience it. Personally, for rigging gear, enclosed stations are the best, less pressure when you're setting up if any guests end up watching. Why thank you! I don't want to go into too much technical detail out of fear of copy-cats, I personally go to great lengths to ensure there's a series of redundancies in place (as per manufacturer spec) to avoid something becoming a projectile. Agreed, in saying that, from what i've heard it's quite easy to change the track should they want to. I'm thinking they could jazz it up every month, or go that extra length and swap the music out for Christmas, Halloween etc. etc.
  7. Correct. Most parks (here and abroad) will always want to minimise impact to paying guests, so filming is generally done when the park is closed. In saying that, the rigs I use to get the shots safely (and by safely i mean not just duct tape, no doubt some readers will know who i'm implying there) are designed so that for the most part I can setup most shots in the time it takes to load on a new cycle of guests. Cheers, despite it being shaky, I put opted to put it out there as ironically it's still the best offering out there. This answer I like.
  8. Just to update, here's some on-ride footage I shot recently. I'm still writing up my thoughts about the ride, I think overall it's a nice update. I quite like the Brock's Garage part. Good stuff there. The new train is nice, but Freestylers? Really? That's the song you want to pick for hundreds of thousands of potential riders to hear in the future? Note: Just before @AlexB chimes in (hah), i'm aware of the overall averageness of this POV.
  9. At roughly 30-46 million USD depending on which install you look at, they're unfortunately not in the realms of any of our theme parks, let alone many others around the world. For perspective, with 30 million USD you could essentially build two Superman Escapes. Hopefully down the track (hah) a company, maybe even S&S find a way to bring this idea back in full scale at a pricepoint that makes it more accessible.
  10. You're aware of how big Eejanaika is, yeah? Hint: it's massive.
  11. 4K POV of Abyss. Happy to come out and film it for you if you like.
  12. That's not the Giant Drop, that's FearFall at Sea Paradise, Japan.
  13. When you Google Dreamworld... this silly little thing should be fixed.
  14. As a general rule I avoid most spinning rides now so you don't need to worry.
  15. The smaller model Giant Frisbee would be a huge drawcard for the Perth audience... I meant...
  16. Oooh, if we want to talk about rides that have made us feel horrible... Hard Rock - Rode at the Ekka many years back. Came so close to yakking I had to sit down on a milk crate next to the ride and chill out for twenty minutes. White Cyclone - Wooden roller-coaster at Nagashima Spa Land, Japan. The first time I rode it in 2012 the bottom of the dips vibrated so hard one of my wisdom teeth compacted into one of my other teeth and gave me a splitting headache that wrote me off for the rest of the day. When I rode it again in 2014 it was fine and dandy.
  17. Speaking of, it'll be interesting to see what the temporary shop looks like inside and whether or not they've worked it into the confines of the existing attraction or cut into it.
  18. Haha you are 100% correct. Too late to fix up now unless one of the forum gods has a moment. ( @Richard?)
  19. I'm going to keep my list Australian. Favourites 1) Superman - it's the country's best coaster. No contest. 2) Abyss - The best bang for buck coaster style out there. 3) Tower of Terror - The original and the best. When it first opened it was something else. Lap-bars, full speed, full height. 4) Jet Rescue - Out of control, simple, exciting. Who-ever designated is as a family coaster is a crazy man, and I love them. Bottom of the barrel 1) Motocoaster - Sorry Dreamworld, but it's true. Call it a sign of management at the time, the fact that it could've been a Vekoma Motorbike Coaster and swapped at the last minute for something Intamin somehow turned into a huge mistake. Terrible station design, terrible placement in the park and a bland ride experience. The park would be better off selling it (not hard given the way it was constructed) and turning back into vintage cars. I'm genuinely not one of these overly nostalgic people, change is good, but they destroyed a generational icon in the park and replaced it with something that further ruined another area of the park that was Disney-esque and I really do believe the ride is just so bad that very few guests if any would mourn its loss. Let me put it to you this way, the vintage cars had charm because you could drive it around rides, over bridges, through tunnels etc. all the things the current iteration doesn't have and so if you surveyed guests "would you rather a) Vintage cars back where they were and Mine Ride to open but kill Motocoaster or B ) keep things exactly as they are?" I guarantee most guests would vote the former.
  20. A quick Google makes me think this is it:
  21. Furthering this chain of thought, presuming the primary reason they tried to replace steam completely with a diesel alternative was because of ongoing fuel costs (granted there's other costs like staff, boiler servicing etc.), is there a possibility of a way or a group that'd be interested in doing any conversions or updates needed to the current Steam engine to bring it into an eco/cost friendly 2016? Basically, say Dreamworld were reading this and the brief was "we can't afford to keep doing what we were doing because the fuel cost was hundreds of thousands of dollars per year, what else can we do to keep steam going?" what would you recommend?
