  1. I've got another little update for you guys. I'll throw the coastery photos here, and for the full report of the day, you can checkout the blog here. So this was basically an epic highlight of the trip. Kawasemi kicks total ass. No line, bitches. Regina was very surprisingly smooth, especially given its size. This was a bit cray. The restraints opened before we stopped moving. Old school ride for sure. Don't deny it. This ride is sexy. Cool park? Hell yeah. And just for good measure, here's some POV's of Tobu Zoo & Regina... http://www.youtube.com/embed/d4UX4OdrD3E http://www.youtube.com/embed/wXMQYWKpPoc
  2. Sorry, add to title "By comparison, Ardent Profits Surge (into the drain)."
  3. Suggestion to change the Thread Title to "Village Theme Park Profits Surge". Feel free though to add at the end "Ardent Profits Surge (into the drain)."
  4. So were going to have apocalyptic themeing in ocean parade? Okay. Sure. Why not.
  5. Around the same time the skull changed sides. Killing the two entrance lifts meant lowering the minimum operator count required to run the ride.
  6. I think most photoblogs, and for that matter, most easy-reading theme park blogs are going to be very "TPR" so in that regard, cheers!
  7. I thought i'd share with you me finally posting my photos from last year's trip to Japan, where I visited Sega Joypolis, Tobu Zoo, Tokyo Disneyland & DisneySea, Nagashima Spaland & Universal Studios, to name a few. We arrived in Tokyo, got lost in the belly of Shibuya, Ginza & Akihabara trying to find stuff to make our iPhones work in Japan, and finally rocked up to Joypolis for our first theme park credit and first coaster credit of the trip. What better way to top off an awesome night than with some Sega Joypolis? During the day you can come in here and pat oodles of kitties! You can pat me, ladies. But seriously, screw the kitties, we're here for our first theme park visit for our trip! Joypolis is up here! There was also a Legoland center here! We didn't go in, but we got laughed at for posing with the sign. Gaijins doing what gaijins do best. Legoland! Oh my god, oh my god... J for Joypolis! Awwww yeah. The entire complex is filled with crazy signs and interactive displays. Our first look at Veil of Dark. Unfortunately at this point my GoPro pretty much died. I got around half of the POV of all the onboard craziness (the restraints have a joystick and a fire trigger where you shoot at screens while riding the ride! I shit you not.) but it was not meant to be. Hold tight folks, there's an image issue i'm getting solved and the rest of the update will be with you soon (I can't post the rest, I think the forum software shits bricks when I do). In the interim, feel free to head on out to my blog and checkout the rest of the photos here.
  8. I don't know for 100% sure, but I a) don't know anyone in the industry that leases that sort of laser tag equipment and know that equipment's worth a lot of money. Maybe not by large thrill ride standards, but laser tag setups are in excess of 30k+ just for equipment. I highly doubt they're going to toss an entire building setup for a temporary "scare" attraction. But hey, I may be wrong, they did toss out IMAX, plan to remove the steam trains and have left many, many rides SBNO over the years, so anything's possible.
  9. Five bucks says if its an extra maze it'll go into blue lagoon.
  10. Good ol' dreamnova. Lots to learn from there.
  11. I definitely see your point there AlexB. You're right, I'm holding them up to a commercial standard, it's just the way I see these things personally and how I relate my own experiences as to what I think works/doesn't work in the world. And I do agree. Some structure might atleast be the way to go so that the less enthusiastic fans (like, say, in Kickstarter, who offer $1-5 instead of $20-200) will feel more comfortable and donate en masse (atleast theoratically.) It's worth pointing out that the parts that I quoted were from different members. The guy running the WLS show, from what I can see, is a decent enough bloke with his heart in the right place. UPDATE: So the idea is being incorporated and taking a positive turn forward. This is actually quite exciting. Kudos to the WLS team for hearing the community at large out.
  12. Agreed there AlexB, and I did see their answers, it just seemed to be like their was a lot of ambitious dreams and not a whole lot of nitty gritty and actual happening. I'm costing up a bar at the moment, and relative to all new businesses, it's never as easy as just throwing up some walls. There's just so much costing involved, i'd even say just getting those trains moved would be a fortune, and then getting them ready for display, let alone all the other costs are what throw up alarm bells for me and make me want to wait before pledging any money. To be brutal, I don't think they quite understand the moneypit this could turn into, and without any prep, they might only get a small way into the idea before falling short, and that'll be a drama no one wants. Your idea though is certainly very sound though, in terms of a co-operative society. I like that.
  13. So i've been adding my own commentary to this little thread on Facebook for a few days now. For those wondering, a group of fans are attempting to save the Bush Beast trains that originally ran in the now defunct Wonderland Sydney. You can check out the "gofundme" campaign here. Now rather then bashing my head into the keyboard I wanted to gather some thoughts on the matter, so what does everyone actually think of this campaign? Have you donated? Kudos if you have, by the way. And if you haven't, has there been something stopping you? For me the idea seemed to be filled to the brim with many pie in the sky dreams and visions for me to feel comfortable throwing some money at (especially when there's no concrete plan in place apart from "BUY ALL THE TRAINS!") For more clarity, I asked: Which was met with: and Nostalgia fan rage? Am I being too harsh? Feel free to let me know what you think.

  15. TLDR, unless you're a fugitive on the run harbouring stolen property into a theme park, or you're a cheapskate enthusiast (you know who you are) throw your junk in a locker and enjoy your day hassle-free. It's worth the ten-ish bucks.
  16. Steps one through ten are finding a long term management team that aren't being micromanaged via their company's board members and shareholders.
  17. Thanks for that. Good angle. Taking bets on inside barrel roll or themed pre-ride...
  18. Apparently when they removed the gondola, motors and even the internal stairwell there was nothing left to really keep it well grounded.
  19. Thought it was worth a mention, the Coney Island Astrotower is having a large chunk of the tower removed as its been reported to be swaying more then 18 inches. Check the video on the link. That's some scary swaying going on. http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/brooklyn/astro-tower-coming-coney-island-article-1.1389974
  20. It'd definitely be really nice for the park to refine their main pathways and make the park at least a little more logical. Agreed too, I think the orange track is pretty damn average.
  21. Suggestion to the mods for a thread name change? I think the answer is yes, construction has definitely started.
  22. There's a new ride that opened two days ago?
  23. The scale is tough to comprehend from the photo's angle, but Takabisha's station was similar in construction but much larger. My guess, and its a guess, it's a pretty standard station being put in.
