  1. @Luke I like the design idea for the train, if it is WW Themed...and that got me wondering, has Mack ever done a floorless coaster? That would work with the invisible jet for sure, but I may have let my imagination run away from me again
  2. Valid points @YLFATEEKS, never said that they didn't already have it done, just quoting the time frames involved for the relocation should it happen. As far as the locations, if the transformer is to supply one building (or client) only, energex generally will require it be placed on the clients land, however in an area that still provides easy access for energex crews to get to...the current one used to be next to a service road so I would guess that was the deal that was made for that unit. All that aside, you have me thinking about possibilities. The fact that there are two rides in that area shutting down for about a month could be more than allowing for works to new entry etc. The one thing I have noticed is that the power for that transformer "could" be coming from the power pole on the corner entry to the park on the left of the driveway entry, which is very surprising that it would not have been in the road for footings for the ride. But as I said before, not saying anyone is wrong or right, just trying to shed some light on the works ahead....
  3. Some light I can shed on this, right up my alley it is... If they were moving/relocating the transformer they would have already started the new pad (transformer Uniculvert) with conduits in place through to the new switchboard location. Energex will not even consider any works until this is done well in advance, total process from start to finish on our last transformer was 6 months, and we had to wait 3 months from when we were ready onsite with everything in place. That being said, there could be a switchboard upgrade happening which would require more conduits to be installed to the current transformer location, and there is a somewhat easy way to tell this. If anyone is at the park looking through fences as we all do, look for an electrical "Pit". You would walk over them all the time through the city and may have never noticed them, if there are new pits int he ground then the conduit works have been completed already. I would, as a GUESS only, think that considering the good weather over the footing install stage, we would start to see parts arrive end of March for an April vertical start. This would allow most of the supports and track to be complete by end of May, wiring and systems in through June/July with testing starting in August for a September opening. Also we now have to consider that the testing will be a lot more scrutinized after the Dreamworld tragedy, so this may have been allowed for as well, in my own opinion.
  4. @Jobe it has been a few years (about 10) since we were last there, sadly my teenagers would rather spend time at 'WnW' these days. It was working then, but not sure about now. Can anyone who has been there lately tell if the Luge is still operational?
  5. The transport track would take you to the top of the hill for the "Go Kart Luge" ride...remember loosing it on this ride when I was young, but what a ride for a small park. Wish there were more of these around.
  6. That is true, still trying to figure out what it could be though...
  7. @reanimated35 thanks for the overhead. Need a second opinion people, but are the two sets of footings I have circled the same layout? I was wondering if this could be for a cobra roll or something similar at the bottom of the first drop? Or are my old eyes playing tricks on me yet again....
  8. Perhaps the announcement will be made once the supports and track have arrived and started to be installed? People will be able to see the construction from the Highway and that may seem the best time to have a press announcement? Just a thought.
  9. Correct, they are used to hold the bolts in correct position to ensure the supports will line up. Spent most of Friday installing some for a new sports field in Toowong.
  10. I seem to recall on one of Movie Worlds old applications to council, that the "swamp area" was to be retained without damage due to some wild life concerns? This could have been during the Green Lantern application, not really sure. Maybe someone else can recall, i might possibly have it confused with another site on the coast?
  11. Main Constructions....might have to do a little digging of my own to see if I can find anything.
  12. Nearmap's have not updated their image since 22/9, however I am checking for an update every couple of days as working on a couple of projects in that area. If Adler Constructions are building this ride, I know they are going to have some labor free up soon from another project on the coast. Not sure if the same crew will be used, however the timing could be very close.
  13. Apologies, I did a quick check and couldn't find any so thought i would put it up here. Need to get more active back in the community like the old days...i blame the kids.
  14. Just a thought of my own, but considering the TRRR (thunder river rapids ride) is closed and will be removed, and with the sudden removal of the log ride from the park map, could this be a chance for the park to do a MAJOR upgrade? This area does not just include the two closed rides, but has been an area with a lot of closed or removed items in the park over the years. The removal of the chair lift, the closure of the original water park section of Dreamworld, the death of the Eureka Mine ride, as well as the BB stage. This takes up (as per google maps image) an area of almost half the size of the rest of the park. What are the chances that this could be the ideal time for a major capital investment into the park to bring it up to the destination that we all want it to be....but as I said, just a thought.
  15. Ok, now i understand why i have been calling the footings for our jobs, footers. You guys have no idea how much I have been paid out in the last month and I had no idea where i picked it up from....for the record, they are always footings...
  16. Ok, so went back to @mattcrombie's photo and can confirm that is an energex transformer, which would put the "Tardis" as a local distribution board or switchboard for that area. Interesting that it is close to the new ride as that transformer would be a 7Kva unit given the size...wonder what it is powering in the park.
  17. Don't think so, I believe the grey to be a electrical transformer (maybe 7Kva by the size), with a switchboard cabinet behind (not sure about the blue tardis looking thing). So while your correct in the photo link, I doubt it would be connected to the crates.
  18. I did find a video from them that had maybe three or four comments from people saying in "could be" this and that, but no firm details on what the coaster...just more speculation. video showing the Mack logo on the boxes onsite back in september...
  19. The one thing that stands out is the position of the drilling machine in both the overhead photos as well as the ones taken by @YLFATEEKS yesterday. Either it is sitting there currently as it is not been used, or it is drilling more in that area. There are more pier cages over that way currently so it could be that the rides main turn-around is in that area. Anyone's guess at the moment.
  20. OK, so asked a favor and here are overhead photos from the 22/9 this year. It looks like a couple of turn around areas from the layout of the footings, but it is way to early to be sure...anyone care to guess...
  21. True, its not standard on coasters at all...its only new in the field I work in (we have used it in the last 6 months only as the cost of the footing apposed to extra height required on the pole or tower in steel, its cheaper option). Would imagine your correct that it wont stay, just pondering the question.
  22. Nice pics, just FYI, any of the footers seen with the steel liner around them would normally be for the concrete section to sit above ground level, a lot of the times, this will stay around full time (if the liner is stainless steel). It does sometimes help to get an idea of how they plan to finish the ground works. I imagine it would be considered wrong to launch a drone on the outside of the fence to go straight up to get an idea of the pattern of footings? Or has anyone tried to see an overview from the Highway driving past if that is high enough? It is a very interesting layout, so many bunched in one area does not give much of an idea from ground level of the layout. Did someone say they will be making an announcement soon about the ride? Great pictures from all so far, keep them coming.
  23. As far as the size of the steel for the footings, (someone said before it is due to the soil conditions) this is correct. When we install lighting towers, the condition of the soil determines the footings, so good soil will allow for a pier footing (the long steel cages) where soil that had been transported to site to level the land, or if there is a water table not that far below the surface you would use pads as in the photos above to spread the weight. As an idea, a 25m steel light tower will have a pier footing approx 4.5m to 6m in depth, however this varies depending on the g-force that will be placed on the tower. So as far as the large footing that has been completed...it could be for a loop or a launch end, it really is anyone's guess at this stage.
  24. Can't help but think that all those shipping containers may contain parts for another ride as well as DD....or is that just wishful thinking.
  25. Well last time I mentioned it I was shot down as to why the parks would bother...but meh.
