  1. The best way i can explain it is Riddlers Revenge versus a Vekoma Boomerang. Both rides turn you upside down 6 times, but a start to finish layout with 6 inversions just feels different to doing 3 inversions twice.
  2. But Big Dipper has a tyre launch too. Just based on my personal experience, something that passes a bank of LSMs several times to pick up speed (Wicked Twister, Sky Scream, Star Trek Operation Enterprise) feels different to a coaster where you are going forwards the whole time and the 2nd half amps it up with a faster launch (Taron, Velocicoaster, Helix)
  3. This is a situation where i think there needs to be differentiation in terminology, because quite clearly Surfrider and Steel Taipan have a different launch to Jet Rescue or Big Dipper.
  4. Probably to hide the construction stuff seen on the first launch. Also DAE notice the fake wheels are off:
  5. Aww man we almost had a looping star? Yeah we got Geronimo instead, but still, looping stars slap.
  6. Why cant they use Village E-Serve to order? Personally re US style service I feel uncomfortable with it. You’ve got people that have to grit their teeth to an unreasonable extent because if they don’t simp for the customer they get no tips and starve, so then the overriding attitude over there is coming and interrupting your meal to “check if everything is ok”. Plus its pretty problematic how you have massive hospo businesses that literally make it the customers problem to pay their staff?
  7. Minor nitpick, but I always reckoned the overseas ones looked cooler with exposed ceilings, more of an industrial look, fitted a younger vibe: The GC one feels a bit like an ALH venue from a few years ago.

  9. My speculation is that in the 90s it was a dumb ratchet mechanism, and now its hydraulic harnesses and electronic monitoring, so more to break.
  10. They're locked out and have Fluro green straps so the operator doesnt even have to touch them.
  11. No they are random seats in different locations in each train, sometimes single seats sometimes two in a pair.
  12. Ok Paddlesteamer and Bushranger show i should clarify, but yeah I would always go for a ride and get some photos. From my recollection it was still well ridden right to the end.
  13. I can get a bit of what both sides are saying. OK yeah DW didn't really have its mickey mouse. But certainly, some stuff like the paddlesteamer should never have been removed. You can definitley switch out and modernise some attractions, but you probably should keep a few classics around (Even if they are stupid) because a bit of intergenerational nostalgia is an important part of any theme parks brand, remember a lot of what theme parks are selling is warm fuzzy feelings and memories. Like at Disney, Autopia and Jungle Cruise are the biggest attractions in the park and are kinda lame compared to indy or space mountain, but they would be stupid if they got rid of either
  14. What does separated seating do/prevent?
  15. Can they rip off the rest of the weathered foam theming while they are at it?
  16. What's going on with DCR. 7 seats out of use on each train including the backwards ones on both. I can accept supply chain delays preventing them being put into use. But what is crazy is that they only have 17 seats to check on each train and they are still stacking trains on the brake run! A crew with like a week and a bit experience on Steel Taipan are loading quicker.
  17. La Nina theme, then just do an attractive rainforest.
  18. Yeah I like the idea of a Bluey dark ride and a shoot the chutes ride. Shoot the chutes I love because they are instagrammable. Big spray of water and then non riders can stand on the bridge and get soaked which creates a lot of funny videos. The big splash is what makes the ride iconic. Storm coaster could have had this but because of its stupid layout one of the best features is hidden (and indeed the fact its a water coaster, to bystanders it just looks like a normal coaster with 8 person cars) Flats I don't really care about, yeah they have less than they did previously, but IMO the park had too many so it's not super urgent. One thing I think will make a difference is that the village parks will tend to just do about one ride per year across all the parks. Eg they'll finish New atlantis, but WnW will get nothing, and then MW will get its arkham replacement and the other parks will get nothing. (Aside from low cost things like new 3d shows or exhibits) Whereas if DW build one ride per year for the next 3 or 4 years, that'll really build up the park and renew interest.
  19. I thought it was LIMs that needed it? Since you have rides like Surfrider without kicker wheels.
  20. -Queue and Theming. Typical modern Australian architecture, with hints to the taipan, from the obvious skeleton themed queue, to patterns of scales. The paths around the ride allow for plenty of great places to view the ride. Landscaping looks nice around the walkways, it will be good to see it in about 3 years time when it is really lush. The station is well setup, with a very generous sorting area, with dots on the ground for three groups of riders to be batched. The station gates know which train is in the station and won't open row 10 if the spinning equipped train is parked. I think it needs some dramatic music in the station like the original Blue Fire, to give more buildup: -Launch. As others have said it's not a ballistic launch like Supemrna, just gradual acceleration, but most of the speed seems to be added on the 2nd launch, with the 3rd adding the last bit. on The backwards launch you spend a lot of time coasting along the launch track and then suddenly get caught by the LSMs, which makes for a good suprise. In the back seats the first roll back feels kind of weird because you feel the train decelerating before you even properly on to the curve. -Reverse spiral. Really good! A worthwhile addition, because it curves up quite tightly (enough to move your harness down a little bit) and then the Gs are sustained a bit due to the curve, before tapering off into floater. Again good postives on the way down. -Main layout. I've always thought the first horseshoe is a bit slow on the original version. A quick moment of darkness as it goes through the tunnel. The loop is strong and maintains the Gs right through the top. The turnaround to the MCBR has a bit of kick. If you sit in the back there is ejector coming off the MCBR. the corkscrews are better than I remember on Blue Fire, they actually feel like little zero g rolls, with a good float and twist at the top. The rock arch is quite cool and there is a definite woosh as you go through. Good pop of ejector on the hill through the loop. But of course it's the final roll which is the highlight, attempting to dunk you out of the train at the midpoint. -Tailwhip OK this is wild and probably a 'one and done' for many people, since it would probably make you feel unwell if you marathoned (But backwards on DCR does too!) . Try to get an unbalanced ride with someone with a different weight to you. It can spin moderately but it's not as fast as some of the family spinning coasters I've been on. Highlights included going up the spike facing forwards towards the sky, coing around the loop sideways, so you would see the horizon rotate in front of you. On the final roll the car managed to do a full spin, so it was like being an astronaut tumbling in space. It is worth the $25 upcharge at least once. -Conclusion Best ride at DW and neck and neck with DCR. It's fast, it's smooth, its got heaps of variety, it's well paced and seems to have appeal for re-riders. One of the best multi loopers in the world in fact.
