  1. So, what is your favourite console out of the current crop, Pay Station 2, Game Cube or Xbox. My favourite one is Xbox because it has some good titles, internal HD, its the most powerful of the three and, I also quite like the fact you dont need a multi - tap or a network adapter, plus you can do the custom soundtracks on games. Debate away.....
  2. A drawbridge, now that is a good idea. But out of interest, how much space on the island are we talking about here? What is its length and width? It would be better if the ride didnt go over the water because it would be sad to seen the Paddlesteamer go, the show on it was really good from what I could remember. Maybe there could be a whole new themed area for the island, Maybe medieval with this rumoured flyer to be about dragons. Then the drawbrdige would be an actual feature.

    Thunderbolt 2

Here is my Idea for a TB replacment, a 5 inversion floorless coaster, The ride fits into the old TBs footprint wiht gaps to spare so there would be no problems fitting it in. I haven't thought of a name or theme so the file is just named Thunderbolt2, any suggestions for names? Attatched is the track file and a screenshot.
  4. Back on the flyer topic, It will be a telltale sign if its coming if they announce the closure of the Paddleboat, if that happens i'll get real exited
  5. At night, does the highest point in the ride end up dry because all the water has gone into the dam?
  6. Wouldnt the problem with a spinning platform be that the gaps betwwen the seats wouldn't always line up with the edge of the turntable making getting in difficult? Also, wouldnt the rafts spin, or end up going along the right hand side of the channel so it would be too far to step over? Another question about SRR I have is about that spinning cone thing on the right side of the channel just out of the station, what is it? I think rapids rides should use a conveyor belt system like on Hafema river rapids rides, in theirs, the boats come completley out of the water onto a conveyor belt which people can actually walk on, which would make getting in and out a breeze.
  7. I might add another question, does the whole rides flow get turned off at night, os the water all pools up at the lower end of the ride.
  8. I actually quite like the look of the Halfpipe, but the capacity is where it falls short and you would need much more seating for it to work well, alternativley you could have two side by side.
  9. I wonder how difficult it would be getting all the ride pieces over to the island? Also, will trucks be able to get to that part of the park?
  10. Intamin doesn't make Flyers and I think DW would go with a company with establised installations rather than an unreliable prototype.
  11. Well, AIR cost the equivalent $30 million AUD so It could be a possibility, I hope this does happen, but Im not pinning my hopes too much on It. But who knows, they have been doing well and If they can throw something like TOT on us, the might eventually do It again. BTW Slick, how did DW take note of "the masters of the forum"?
  12. On the topic of carnival rides, There was a mention of the mega drop in the eye in the herald sun (a sort of gossip page). It basically said they had a sneak peek at a new ride coming to the Melbourne show, A ride which uses four cylinders to fire you at the ground at 200kph pulling five Gs. I think the 200kph stat sounds a bit dodgy. Not exactly breaking news is it, just goes to show how much the papers have their finger on the pulse when it comes to rides .
  13. Nah, The first flyer was Skytrak at Granada Studios, Vekomas first flyer was Stealth at PGA (now Borg Assimilator at PC). But to add more confusion, B&M were apparently working on their flyer back in 1998, but didnt build one till 2002. And Rich, In the fairly uneventful Australian industry, any news like ths is worth talking about, and maybe getting exited about, But I think this highly themed thing with indoor sections sounds very un DW when they could build an unthemed one, write a rhapsoding PR and it would still be a hit.
  14. I had a thought, It could be a vekoma, DW have worked with them in the past
  15. Hey Everyone, I had a dumb idea, they could sell SRRs rafts to the Penrith Whitewater Stadium.
  16. Its on the Hume so it is not too hard to acess, though It does seem a little wierd to put it in Golburn, its cold and Im not sure if it is really a destination people go much, but the park could change that. Slick, B&M do do lauch coasters if you get someone else to put the launch in, but anyway, Intamins are the best launch coasters. Hope this whole project goes ahead and does well, It means a shorter drive to a theme park for me
  17. Cornball express is entirely out of steel from what I can remember.
  18. Lara croft: Tomb raider, it probably would be the zamperla volare like at PCW. Here is a pic of what we could be getting: http://www.rcdb.com/installationgallery251....htm?Picture=10 I think the ride layout looks nice but apparently the ride has bad headbanging, but maybe that is just what people in the US/Canada think becasue they have been softened by the abundance of B&Ms so that all rides seem rough. Still, If it is true then it will be a good additon becasue flyers are a unique ride that will wow the GP. BTW what do you mean by rent being up 33%? Do DW rent the property they are on? I think Tomb Raider will go perfectly with rivertown .
  19. I thought of a launch system of my own for a TOT style ride, on the launch track have an array of bar magnets angled at 45 degees with the north pole pointing upward in the direction of travel. Then on the train have a bar magnet at an angle of 45 degees with the north pole pointing downwards against the direction of travel. Becasue the like poles would be angled at each other, there would be a repelling effect, pusing the train foward from one magnet to the next. You could put some sort of magnetic insulation on the southern pole too to stop the train from becoming stuck.
  20. That looks cool, WB has no shortage of movies containing car chases so it would be easy to theme. I want one Hey, Imagine if they did one based on the Freeway chase in the Matrix Revolutions, that would be awesome.
  21. 11mb is a bit much on my connection, do you have any stills of the park?
  22. I suppose. I think its bad to compromise ride for the sake of a statistic that will only stand for a couple of years or three, espeically if this statisic is one only enthusiasts will really remember and the GP will probably get wrong. Xcellerator is a far cry from the 400 ft were talking about here too.
  23. Sorry, what I meant was that we should have maybe just a six flags style park (with some improvements to their formula of course) in Sydney or Mebourne, aimed at the people who live in the city, but not just a minor scale thing wiht just ex carinval rides or a collection of bobsleds and waterslides on a hill.
  24. I dont think its a letdown at all, I'd rather the adrenaline keep pumping for a longer period of time, and the ride not just being a one trick pony. I like what has been done with storm runner how it has interesting elements after the top hat , and more coaster should take a leaf out its book. So with Xcelerator, you would rather just the top hat to be there and nothing else? Unfortunatley due to the nature of ride physics the elements after the launch will not be as big, but it has been well and truly proven a ride can still be fun until the end even if the drops etc arent as big.
  25. Well, maybe they could have a trim brake and get it to the speed of say a normal hyper, and then build the coaster.
