  1. Dreamworld's Churros are tough as sh*t. WetnWild's seem to taste much nicer. (They're probably made by the same people though, just my observations) After spending a day at Movie World and a day at WetnWild I think it's safe to say Dreamworld just ain't what it used to be.
  2. ^But I thought people went for those... Why they built it in the first place, that's what I want to know! (I only scanned over the article, please don't shoot me)
  3. Put it this way, it's an excuse to visit. The show was pretty amazing although it's obviously not the same as a new ride in terms of 'replay value'. I saw it today for the first time and apart from the 'sardines in a tin' feeling it was worth it. *edit in more here at later date*
  4. I didn't get the email as I switched ISP's, hence its no longer accessible. :'( I thought just changing my account on MyFun would correct it. How should I fix it up?
  5. I think I've just found a source of entertainment for this holiday period. The annual pass needs a bit of a work out... In my opinion Dreamworld doesn't have enough rides to even warrant a 'gold' Q-bot. Compared to many of the Six Flags parks, (and I'm too slack to look into the physical size of either park) Dreamworld could be seen as half the fun for the same price. (Minus the parking) And just out of curiosity, aren't the parks in the US open later than say 5pm?
  6. I guess this is a good thing for peak times and all but surely a majority of the rides aren't running at maximum capacity? If it isn't too expensive then why not, otherwise I can't say this will have a positive impact on my day.
  7. The news is kind of disappointing yet it's good to see Dreamworld trying different methods of promotion. I just don't get why they need to replace the existing simulators. Surely most people aren't going to know the difference? Guess no-one has news on Stage 3 of WhiteWater World? Oh, and is there deeper reasoning behind why a certain post has been removed?
  8. So would this ride similar to the Tornado minus the small drop at the end? The tubes look interesting with the back support and all. I still haven't worked out whether riding backwards is better or not... Looks great!
  9. Regarding the water, it used to be a fairly powerful jet of it right? (I can't remember exactly) Was the problem so severe that they couldn't add some simple water mist spray? Good to hear it still spins, it definitely helped make the ride. I expected mild rotation like The Claw once it gets going but SurfRider almost whips you around at the crest of the spikes.
  10. According to the email I just got, it's 10% for MyFun members. (So the regular price is $40) I don't have a pass but it's kind of sad that they won't give you some kind of discount. I definitely regret not going last year and the year before that. The price was what? $15-$20? Also I know it's Halloween and all but are you supposed to go with the theme in mind? Or is plain/casual the norm?
  11. I'm also wondering the same thing. A group of friends and I are probably heading up next weekend, they all wanted to pay the $10 to get in earlier. I've got no problem with paying for it, but it does apply to every 'ticket' not just single day admission right? It looks pretty decent and certainly appeals to me more than Nightmares did. These are the sorts of things that wouldn't be anywhere near as good by yourself compared to with people you know, but I guess that applies to the whole theme park experience. (Maybe a matter of opinion) Just wondering, will it have weird/varying hours of operation like Nightmares? (Didn't they only run one at a time?) I'd hope not as it's only one 'show'. Time will tell, hopefully.
  12. Depends... Are you going to be playing with friends or what? As far as parties go, Wii takes the cake. (As a 'proud' Wii owner, I can't really go against it) Smash Bros. Brawl makes it worth a purchase alone. The Wii also has been hacked to pieces so if you're into that sort of stuff go for it. I'd definitely go 360 over a PS3, I can't think of an exclusive title that I'm interested in. I would assume Live Gold is a must, but I don't own one so I can't say much. There's actually a price drop coming up if it hasn't happened already and there's a new 60gb console to replace the 20gb. (Same price) PC gaming (for me) is about either racing or FPS. Games are almost always dirt cheap, but getting your rig running nicely can cost a bit. I'm currently in love with the flexibility of PC's as far as getting updates (free) that add features the game doesn't ship with. (Although newer 360 and PS3? games can do this too, with some limitations) Really though, like Gazza said, just find whatever has the games you enjoy (most).
  13. That's exactly what happened to me a while ago. We got to sit and wait in the pouring rain for the supervisor or whoever to come and reset it! Not terribly fun, but it did make the day more interesting.
  14. Last time I went it was sitting in two pieces in what I assume is the staff carpark. (Seen from near the top of WhiteWater Mountain) A while ago someone said she would return. Any news on this?
  15. I missed our school trip this year, no Ekka for me... Has anyone else been or gone? Has much changed since last year? I was hoping to go this Saturday but it probably won't happen now. I'm just interested having never been as of yet. (And no-one seems to have mentioned anything) Thanks!
  16. Ha I love the sound of the Wipeout! Tower of Terror is annoying at the worst... The Claw was undergoing what I thought was annual maintenance when I went a week ago. The enclosure on one of the motors was removed and it looked damaged but I wouldn't know. They had a crane hanging over the fence, but I guess that's part of any work they do... Flowrider looked like crap, the mat had been ripped back exposing the framework underneath, although again probably regular stuff. A friend said he was told it wouldn't be back 'til Christmas. With Movie World passes at $99 I'm so tempted to grab one!
  17. Thoughts are with those and their families. I'm intrigued by the circumstances... How exactly did/does a ball bearing malfunction? (Come to think of it I can imagine many ways) More questions, but I guess almost everyone here is in the same 'boat'. Also. Am I correct in thinking Huss got bought by S&S?
  18. Hell yeah! So glad that the show is disappearing! Hopefully the hole left in MLE's pocket encourages them to focus more on the reason most of us go to Dreamworld; for the rides. Stupid reality TV shows... I really hope they don't leave it there as a 'museum' or something lame.
  19. Ha! Nothing sucks more than being stuck on the claw in the pouring rain for ~10 minutes until what I assume was a supervisor came and manually released us. (I'm guessing it was just unbalanced. She just rotated it a bit.) Also, my first ride on SurfRider something screwed up and we only hit the top once. They ran it again a few minutes later though so all was good... Apart from that, I can't recall anything but tools who can't seem to close their restraints properly.
  20. ^I'd say that's a good idea, but I see it as a challenge to try grab enough riders. What's worked for me, just get a group of friends to stand near the exit of say The Claw, when everyone gets off run excitedly towards the Wipeout... You either get a huge stream of people following you or look like a complete idiot, but it worked for me. Certainly can get annoying... Though it's interesting riding the Wipeout with only 10-20ish people, especially when it's just been raining and the gondola fills with water. (They get most of the water out in a test run though)
  21. Nice to see the site back, but I just thought I'd mention Firefox completely rapes the non-flash components...
  22. The cyclone is lame, Tower of Terror is fun if you get an edge seat + aren't stapled in... The Wipeout is fun but can be a bit painful for the guys... Claw is insane, especially first ride of the day, but re-rides make me sick. Can't say about GD, but Batwing was pretty fun and far less intense than I expected.
  23. If you'd watched the video and read my post... (Which probably wasn't worded terribly well) You would've noticed that Tilt'A'Whirl's have got nothing on these beasts! Anyone can get their office chair spinning, it's the whole atmosphere that makes it crazy. (Good Music + Lasers; Who doesn't like lasers?) When I first found that video I watched it over and over.
  24. ^^Thanks for letting us know. I reckon that's what the carnival atmosphere should be like, I'm gonna try hit the UK in a few years time. (Europe > America) Definitely an experience as opposed to just being spun around for five minutes, if I wanted that I'd go elsewhere. Wouldn't have any decent videos of carnivals over there? Most of the stuff on Youtube is crap. Thanks!
