  1. Exciting news for Big Brother Fans. A new season has been announced, it’s back on 10, and back to its original format. Live Nominations/evictions, and 24/7 livestreams from the house. the advertising is going heavy with it being back to its ‘original roots’ so it would be very interesting to see if they approach Dreamworld to be the home of the show again… would be a crazy full circle moment for them, and would bring a lot of people to the park. it would require a full rebuild, as the house is no longer there, but it could be a possibility.
  2. The 2024 IAAPA Expo Europe has an Intamin press conference scheduled, with its description confirming the announcement of an attraction for Dreamworld. (From IAAPA Expo’s Website) Could be Motocoaster related, could be that water ride Dreamworld needs, but so long as it isn’t a Twin Hammer, a new Intamin is pretty exciting!
  3. A woman has been rushed to a hospital after being mauled by a tiger at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast. The victim, a tiger handler, suffered several cuts and scratches while working with a tiger. Paramedics provided initial care for her deep lacerations before transporting her to Gold Coast University Hospital. The female handler was working with a tiger about 9am this morning when the incident occurred. A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said medics were called to Dreamworld at 9.01am “following an incident involving a tiger”. There, they treated a woman aged in her 30s before taking her to Gold Coast University Hospital. The spokeswoman said the handler was in a stable condition, with injuries to her arm.
  4. Theme park giant Dreamworld has announced a restaurant as the final addition to its new precinct Rivertown, in a feast for your stomach and senses. Jane Rivertown’s Restaurant is set to open in late 2024 and will offer immersive and interactive dining experiences including lifelike animatronic animals including a python, talking parrot, snapping crocodile, orangutang, and family of monkeys in the rafters. Decorated with a suspended canoe, cargo nets and jungle wildlife, the restaurant also showcases items collected by the fictional adventurer Jane, including a beautiful grandfather clock, oversized masks, and rare antiques from across the globe. Dreamworld commercial and facilities director Dwayne Clark said there were some exciting surprises awaiting guests at the bar. “We’ve planned some special touches around the bar that will truly add to the experience. “Jane’s Rivertown Restaurant is the final piece of Rivertown, and it is set to be one of the most dynamic and immersive dining experiences on the Gold Coast. “We’ve designed this space to entertain, surprise, and delight our guests at every turn, it’s an experience unlike any other,” he said. The restaurant will be able to seat up to 280 people and will include an events and conference space with capacity for up to 120 people. The restaurant will also hold a 12.5 metre long themed boat bar, which will serve as the central hub of the dining area. https://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/entertainment/whats-on/interactive-dining-experience-coming-to-theme-park-giant-dreamworld/news-story/5e93d83d88add795ac304904121b8990
  5. Recently Coast Entertainment (operators of Dreamworld, WhiteWater World & SkyPoint) had their 2023/24 Financial Year Presentation. Here is a summary: Visitation was up 14.3% compared to last financial year, but international visitation is still down. Ticket sales value had increased by 3.1%. Revenue was up 3.8%, which is up by 29.6% compared to FY2019. They have no debt! And this is the first year they’ve made a profit since 2016. They had about $1 million worth of damages from the Summer storms. Their current main focuses as a business are safety, revenue, people and business transformation. Employee and safety scores remain higher than pre-COVID. Attraction operating time (excluding maintenance periods) is at 97%. Their Global Review Index (Score out of a 100 that is generated from online review parties; i.e. Google, Trip Advisor) for SkyPoint is at 90.8 and 87.6 for DW/WWW. For comparison, the Village parks sit at 80.7. Their solar system will be complete early 2025. Tiger Island’s transition will be completed in the first half of next year (no more direct human interaction). Some older attraction will be receiving upgrades to improve guest experience and extend attraction’s life. The land development (areas around the parks that the company own) application has been submitted and is under review by council. Rivertown (Jungle Rush & Motors) is on track to open in December (unless there are major weather delays). $24 million of this development remains to be funded next financial year. The Billabong Restaurant will become ‘Jungle Jane’s’ and will be a highly immersive restaurant, set to open late 2025. Overall, the park seems to be doing very well and there going to be some exciting investments in the coming years.
  6. Dreamworld have launched date specific single day entry tickets. Tickets are valid for Dreamworld only for the specific date purchased. Pricing can vary from $79. Flexible 1-day Dreamworld entry tickets can still be purchased and used during any one day over the 12 months from purchase date, however at a higher price point. Is this the start of date based visitation for our parks? It seems as though the model serves as a dynamic pricing strategy also which could end up having a positive guest experience impact during busier periods!
  7. With Matilda passing away last weekend Goliath is now all alone in the enclosure💔. I’d love to see some pictures of them together posted on this page so we can remember her. Rest in peace Matilda, gone but not forgotten.
  8. I have been doing some research recently, and I am stumped. Does anyone know if a map of Dreamworld in 1981/1982 exists? Lets say before Blue Lagoon? If anyone has it, I would love to get a picture of it, as I am very curious.
  9. With Flash/Dreamland open WOZ and Rivertown to open in the next few months, we soon will have all the lands announced for the parks. The question is, what is next for our parks in the next few years? For 2025 I can unfortunately see it be the first year in some time without any new rides for our parks. Village and Coast both just spent $50m+ each on WOZ/Rivertown/Flash/Dreamland, and they will need to recoup the cost before spending on anything new. Overall the only significant thing will be the Scooby refurb. Based on a 2-3 year gap between new areas for each park, I can see Dreamworld possibly investing in something for 2026, but I have a feeling they wont go for a whole new land this time, either an individual flat ride or coaster. I can see Village go to Sea World for investments this time, they seem to alternate where one park gets the main investment for new rides while advertising the previous investments at the other park. It was MW's turn from 2016-2018 (Doomsday, DCR) Sea World's turn from 2019-2022 (New Atlantis) and now it is MW's turn again with Flash/WoO, so based on that Sea World will probably be next for capex.
  10. I was at Dreamworld today, I I noticed there was a large number of markings around The Claw all around the ride, near the Operator building, in the bark near Shockwave, in the queue line and inside the hole in the ground where the ground drops. Does anyone know what this could be for, the ride is coming up to 20yrs of service this year, maybe a replacement? Shaded seating?
  11. While at Snowy Nights I noticed both trains on Steel Taipan had the spinning rear seat. During the event it seemed like most of the trains being sent had someone using it but from what I've seen during regular operation its often empty. Anyone else questioning the decision? I feel like they have to reduce the price if they want to make use of both trains effectively.
  12. Dreamworld have recently added the below to their website: https://www.dreamworld.com.au/holiday-packages/ Looks like they have partnered with Paradise Resort to offer packaged accommodation and park tickets. Not sure how the cost compares to buying everything separately but the cheapest option seems to start at $1299 for 4 people over 5 nights.
  13. With Flash and the claw offering similar ride experiences. I wonder what ride offers the better experience.

  15. After taking a trip to Dreamworld This arvo, I’ve noticed that the general store has been gated off, and I was wondering if anyone knew what’s happening over there. The interior has been gutted from what I can see (pictures below), and I reckon there’s a possibility of a retheme or redecorating. Let me know your thoughts please.
  16. Recently signage has appeared at the entrance to Dreamworld detailing a proposed development which may include nature based tourism attractions. What's everyone's thoughts on what this might be?
  17. Not sure if this has been coved elsewhere but the Main Street emporium had a color change and new sign put up
  18. The Emporium has been repainted to remove the bright red, replaced with a better looking brown which gives it a better vibe. Apparently the whole of main street is being repainted to make it look more timeless. I think it looks great, and am happy to see the rest get painted the same. (thanks to Gold Coast Theme Parks on FB)
  19. Not sure when this happened, but it appears the three tiers of Dreamworld annual passes have increased in price. With the Saver Pass $129, Value Pass $139 and the Locals Pass $149. https://www.dreamworld.com.au/tickets
  20. Normally in April Dreamworld runs the Street Food Festival, which I find is a fun event that adds to a pretty good day. I've noticed that they have removed the 'Street Food Festival' from there 'What's on?' page and the website link is dead. It does seem Dreamworld is doubling down on Spring County Fair and Winterfest - maybe the food festival is dead?
  21. With the new Rivertown comes an upgrade to the Billabong Restraurant. The current concept show an upgraded Restaurant, function room and a Taboo room.
  22. Dreamworld Golden Years has just posted a very cryptic teaser on his Facebook page. "Today is a historic day in the future of Dreamworld. Stay tuned, we will have some exciting updates to share later today." He generally isn't into too much hyperbole... so any speculations? Park has been sold?
  23. Premier Steven Miles today launched a boost for Gold Coast tourism operators in the wake of severe weather. 24. The first attraction maintenance schedules have been published on the Dreamworld website. So far, nothing out of the ordinary.
