When I visited White Christmas last year, the ops team at DC Rivals was doing sub 2 min dispatches. It got to the point that after around 7:30 they were pushing out trains so fast that there weren't enough people in the queue to fill all the seats. I had never seen ops that good, ever at MW. Gates were opened as soon as everyone had cleared the seats and were retrieving their belongings behind the yellow line. Why can't they operate their rides like this during peak times, they're more than capable but just never seem to do so during regular hours.3 points

No we can’t, but when you compare their ride ops to DW and how quickly the park can pump out guests on Jungle Rush and Steel Taipan, Village ain’t doing something right.2 points

I hope so too, but while they’re owned by the current parent company and the current management is in charge, we ain’t going to see anything good come from this park.2 points

I visited Movie World today and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” has already stopped playing along the entrance to OZ. Now there’s just dead silence. Same in the FOTWW queue, no audio or atmosphere whatsoever. The majority of the greenery that was in the Emerald City plaza on opening day has been ripped out and the fake flowers in the water feature have decayed even more. Although the park was relatively busy, OZ was absolutely dead with very few people in the plaza area the entire time I was there. Despite this however, FOTWW still managed to get a 50min queue. This was mainly due to the ridiculously slow operations (the time between dispatches passed 10 minutes while I was timing it)! Speaking of terrible operations, Green Lantern was dispatching one train roughly every 7 minutes! I thought it was closed at first due to the lack of trains going around. What a disaster this park has become. I know I tend to criticise Movie World and VRTP quite a lot and I really don’t want to be overly negative, but it truly is unbelievable how far this park I loved so much has fallen. Remember, this is a park that offered the same level of quality as Universal back in the day and it truly was world class. Now all the magic it once had is long gone. All my criticism comes from my long held respect for the park. It still has so much potential and could be turned around with just a little more effort and care.2 points

I agree with this, I thought it was pretty easy to pick up. I thought the bat sound when you enter the temple was harder to pick up on as I didn't realise those were bats until they were installed.1 point

I picked it up from the get go that thats what it was, but ive only heard it on video if that changes anything. I've also played a few games with stone on stone sliding, so that may also be why i recognise it.1 point

Dreamworld have just sent out an email explaining the lore and backstory for Rivertown in detail.1 point

The afterdark event was open to members only, and the second event might not have sold out, but it was certainly PACKED. We went and never even set foot on Ocean Parade From the get go, the night market was always a way to attract people to come back and see what had changed. Many people hadn't returned since 2016 and covid did nothing to help that - but so much has changed in the park and inviting people to come in and just SEE it for $2 while enjoying some entertainment and cheap eats was a quirky idea to try and attract people back - and it looks like it has worked to some extent. I'm glad that it also makes money because while running a loss campaign to improve attendance is good in the short term, if the campaign is also profitable then it's more sustainable long term. As a shareholder, I'd presume you'd be happy with them making money, but it does seem like you being happy with what they do these days is rare. ^Ladies and gentlemen - the problem in a nutshell. But why? Unlike Carnivale and White Christmas events, this event wasn't free to attend. It required an additional payment. Further the first event was in the middle of holidays - a time when a lot of passholders tend to avoid the parks, and the second event was put on with relatively short notice compared to the first one as a make-up event. I held a village membership for years that included fright nights tickets every year and I used them maybe once. Just because a passholder is invited to attend something, doesn't mean they will. They could very well be similar to Brad's situation above - dropping in for a couple of hours after school or whatever. Not everyone who is a passholder is going to attend every member event on the calendar. Yeah we're getting into the weeds on this but if it's just a matter of how much space is available to fit people into, DW wins even with the 'shrunk footprint'. There's still a few holes in the DW lineup which i'm sure they have plans for. All I can say is we went both passholder nights, and while we got soaked on the first night, it was still pretty busy - could not find a table anywhere for food, and people were out riding rides with consistent queues despite being soaked. The second night, queues were pretty consistent, with plenty of crowds throughout the park. We opted for the queue express 5 rides, and other than an early ride on Murrisippi Motors, the only other rides we did all night were via express queue and they were well worth it. (We did also eat at Janes, so that took up a large chunk of the night - notably although we got to Janes by 18:30, they were full and turning people away, advising folks to come back in around half an hour. They were right, and just after 19:00 the place had settled down and walk-ins were seated with minimal wait times. We were in the queue when Taipan went down, and credit to the maintenance crew for getting it back online as fast as they did. The ops crew working Taipan were absolutely pumping people through all night (truthfully, the crew at Jungle Rush were doing even better) and all of the Ops crew we interacted with throughout the night were amazing and did a great job. The nightscape in Rivertown is gorgeous and I can't wait to attend more night events in the park.1 point

it was a pass holder only event, every night event they’ve had recently has sold out. even though the pass holder events weren’t sold out, Steel Taipan had a line outside of its queue most of the night with two trains, Jungle Rush (even with its fast operations) had a queue spanning outside its entrance, Janes had a queue nearly reaching Jungle Rush’s entrance by the middle of the night, even Sky Voyager was using its extended queue. it was definitely busy… they just know how to manage their park better.1 point

Movieworld needs to be open longer due to their horrendous operation and cycle times… that extra 1.5 hours of trading time means guests can fit in 1 extra ride….1 point

it’s insane my visit the other day had around 3 min dispatches for FOTWW towards the end of the day, i really though dispatches had approved but it must’ve been so they could go home. it’s sad seeing them dig themselves into a bigger hole while Dreamworld is on the verge of being completely out of the hole old management dug. I really hope Movie World can have a turn around period after this and improve everything to be back to their old standards, let’s cancel that corporate hotel and spend that money on the park.1 point

I think this is a good summary. It feels incomplete - two things stand out: - the transition from highly themed indoor queue to a maze of cyclone fencing is jarring, even more so given the general lack of useful shade. - the courtyard desperately needs a small shop or F&B outlet, something to give it some energy and movement. The character meet and greets are nice but not enough to make the area seem complete. More shade would also be welcome here.1 point

What is the safety issue with opening the gates as soon as the train has arrived in the station, instead of waiting for everyone to get off, get their stuff and exit? Other parks, including down the road, don't seem to have the same issue.1 point

It’s funny how when it’s bearing the end of the ride ops shift they suddenly find this extra pace to get everyone through the queue so they don’t have to stay back (obviously this might not be the reason, but a funny thought)1 point

I couldn't really care less if you can't see this or not, but you're the one playing on words and ultimately being pedantic. It is correct that they are finishing the themeing of the ride that wasn't completed before the official ride opening - however it is also correct to say that they have added more theming. Because they have - it wasn't there before, now they've added it. Honestly sometimes your nitpicking goes too far.1 point
