  1. The sad part is that Showtime have enough talented performers (bikes, cars, etc.) that they could put on a good 'action' show with a proper concept/script/direction, but they just don't. I don't really understand why there is a truck on a lake at Sea World with BMX riders, when those same BMX riders could be contributing to a better action/stunt show at MW. It's one thing to need to cut costs, or reduce risk, but a good concept and script only needs to be written once and then it costs nothing. Same with allocating performers to the right park and the right show. It would probably be more cost effective for Sea world to just invest in a really impressive fountain show, and put all the money for performers into MW, and both shows would be better than they currently are.

  2. GL valleyed on the 20th of July and maintenance schedule was due to start on the 23rd of July. MW has shown us before they can maintain a ride a lot quicker then MW currently do and why I believe, maintenance is dragged out to reduce ruining cost.

  3. I'm leaning towards a new show in the stunt arena, but with the overblown puffery we've had from the park in the past 'new entertainment offering' could easily just be a new character appearance with a new background...

  4. MW should do a guest survey. //s

  5. I very much doubt that Movie World would work with S+S again given all the issues they have had with Green Lantern over the years, and some of the issues originally with Batwing. I really hope they can keep Superman running in its current state, but I give it 5 years or so until they really should start looking at a replacement. As much as I'd like to see a LSM conversion when this time comes, I kind of think after 25 years something new would also (hopefully) be as good or iconic as Superman. That ride IMO really put Movie World on the map.

  6. Both lsm retrofits so far (zamperla) by all accounts have had a lot of bugs since opening. Intamin can do these retrofits themselves as well not just zamperla so there’s a few options. Superman launch track is quite short and for a conversion to be on the table it needs to fit within the existing track layout (ie not require a swing launch), I’ll leave that up to Intamin or zamperla to figure that out. Of course with new vehicles that means new clearances so a lot more work would have to be done to adjust the envelope inside the building and when the ride goes in and out of the building during the course so that needs to be considered as well. Superman is the only ride at the park that in my view is worth retrofitting (along with scooby which has been done already). Everyone loves it even 20 years later, it always gets a massive line whenever it is open. Village would be fools not to look at it as an option and see if a conversion is possible, otherwise work out a replacement straight away and get the ground running because movie world cannot depend on rivals & green lantern as its only major thrill coasters for 3-4 years. Like a few other comments a new Intamin launch coaster would be perfect, but I’m aware space is a bit limited on that site so I wouldn’t mind a tilt coaster or a dive coaster. I could probably see superman running for another 3 years at least before any of this happens. The new parts should keep it running for a bit longer

  7. I'm of two minds about SE's future. Positive Thoughts: While the accelerators aren't sold anymore, outside of TTD/Kinga Ka we haven't really seen any permanently removed yet (others have been relocated). Xcelerator has had a recent lengthy downtime, but was returned to service, and has now had KK's parts sent over to be used. Negative Thoughts: The ride is 20 years old this year, it's not going to last forever. MW has demonstrated in the past that they plan to keep things open and operational, until they don't, and the ride gets quietly shuttered and demolished. Future Thoughts: Intamin LSM launches are 'good enough' in that you'll have a thrilling ride still if they were to retrofit it somehow or replace it with something like a blitz model (like Maverick but with newer more comfortable trains). It won't be punchy as the hydraulic launch but it will be cheaper to maintain. The cost of maintaining vs the cost of replacing will be the main driver for Superman's longevity.

  8. With all the other accelerators around the world going down or getting retrofitted, I'm wondering how long Superman has left.

  9. It's strange how you can complete maintenance of GL ahead of schedule when you're in a situation where another ride has gone down and presumably also requires people to spend time investigating it too.

  10. Movie World’s new post on Superman’s extended closure does now confirm that a new entertainment offering is coming soon. This really only narrows it down now to either a new show in the arena, new musical/action show on Main Street or potentially a new show put back into the theater by WWF.
