  2. It's certainly not. That hamster is getting paid top dollar

  3. As a data point, a short video I made last year cost me almost €400. Not that I mind, though – it was a fun project, especially since I got to have a go in a real DeLorean

  4. You can't blame phone software for a photo. An iPhone is equally capable of taking a photo as good as that is.

  5. I've been on quite a few coasters in my time. Before I was really able to say I'd ridden a lot of roller coasters I could have bet you my entire life that I was going to absolutely love any coaster that was a messy pile of spaghetti (Think Joker's Jinx or Smiler for example), small, compact and lots of twist, turns and inversions. However when I did my first really big roller coaster trip to the USA in 2006 (15+ parks and over 100 different roller coasters) the coasters I loved the most were the hypers. Fast, airtime and lots fun. The spaghetti coasters were great too but I was surprised that the hypers were my favourites. Millennium Force was the first coaster I rode at Cedar Point on all 3 visits. I love that coaster. In the dark, front seat and back seat was also amazing. Even now many many years and roller coasters later it still rates in my top 5, and was number 1 for quite some time. Everyone has their own personal opinions on coasters and that's fine. As mentioned above some coasters do receive universal hate/love from the community. I feel that some of that hate/love is just people wanting to be "part of the cool kids". When I came back from Canada's Wonderland people were shocked on here when I said I wasn't a big fan of some of their big name coasters, it's not that I thought they were bad, they just weren't my favourite coasters i'd been on (For example Leviathan was super disappointing, this should have blown me away noting my comments above but for a B&M Hyper that thing was rough as guts, maybe I just got it on a bad day, also the fact that CW has 2 B&M Hypers rather than diversifying a bit more).

  6. Hamster? So it’ll be a powered spin? I thought it’d work with the gravity, speed and movement of the train

  7. Thanks for another local's perspective. And welcome back! I feel like its been ages since I saw that eye on the boards! haha. At the risk of opening a can of worms - some people cannot help their weight. I've never been able to get below 80kg since high school and sit comfortably a bit bigger than that today. With concerted effort I could get under 90kg but i'd never make 75kgs. The point is broadcasting to the greater park population with a blinking red light visible from the other side of the pool is definitely under the potential banner of 'fat shaming' (and for the record, I used the title as these were the words being used by the media articles I was quoting.) However - one thing I am capable of doing is getting a vaccination, as i'm not immunocompromised or otherwise in a position that would prevent me from being eligible, and so I have done so. This pandemic has decimated tourism the world over, and if a privately operated facility wants to place a vaccination requirement to enter their facility, I support it fully - anything that will allow these places to reopen, with suitable arrangements for evidence or documentation of legitimate medical reasons (not moral objections) to be supplied where appropriate. I don't consider this to be 'shaming' of unvaxxed. But if the moral objectors or Facebook and Google doctors feel shamed that they can't go out in public places because they chose not to join society in protecting everyone - if that shame nudges them towards a jab, perhaps we should be shaming them.

  8. indeed. They only need a brake to create another block zone there if there is more than 2 trains. For those of you who are unfamiliar, a block zone is a section of the ride that only one train may occupy. At the end of a block zone is a method to stop a train in case the block zone ahead is still occupied. This is the safety system that prevents roller coaster trains from colliding with one another.

  10. Maybe we will finally get an Australian Legoland. We know Merlin has long been interested in both the Australian market as well as growing the legoland brand. If there ever was gonna be a time to open an Australian Legoland it would be in the lead up to the Olympics.
