Wow makes you wonder what happened to common sense.

I don't think that dreamworld would install a stratacoaster accellerator like kingda ka or top thrill dragster. They are very expensive and require a heavy maintainence schedule and tend to break down regularly. They also roll back alot (although i think that might be fun). But i will say that they do seem to like launched rollercoasters.

what about a heavily themed semi enclosed Maurer Söhne SC 2000, like crush's coaster at disney paris http://www.rcdb.com/m/ig3306.htm?picture=12

I agree with Derwan, when wikipedia is maintained correctly buy using legitimate sources for information it can be a good reference point. I wouldn't go as far as using it to quote in a university paper, but it's good to refer for ones own purposes. I will clean it up, I just wanted you guy to see. I had a look at all the Australian themeparks listen in wiki, and dreamworld was the only one damaged.

Sounds like you had a blast

OII! You guys, I am almost com visit the nearby themepark Movieworld.[citation needed] pletely certain one of you guys was responsible for the attrocity! "In 1974, John Longhurst put his dream of building a theme park into practice and purchased 85 hectares of land beside the Pacific Motorway in Coomera. The theme park was officially opened on November 15, 1981 by the Premier of Queensland of the time, Sir Joh Bjelke-Petersen. Four months later, Dreamworld's first roller coaster, The Thunderbolt, was opened and remained the major attraction of the park for the next 15 years. A shaky period in the early 1990s nearly led to the closure of Dreamworld. All this turned around with the opening of Wipeout in 1993. Many more thrill rides have been built since, with the world's (at the time) fastest roller coaster, Tower of Terror, opening in January 1997 followed a year later with Giant Drop sharing the same 40-storey tower. Since 2001 an alliance with the Australian Big Brother, which is filmed at Dreamworld, has allowed the park to gain considerable media attention. Visitors to the park can visit the house from July - December of each year. The Cyclone roller coaster was originally based in Luna Park Sydney where it was called "The big dipper" The roller coaster was relocated to Dreamworld due to complaints about noise from nearby residents. Today, this ride receives many complaints from the visitors, for the reason that is has a very slow loading time. An alliance with Nickelodeon saw Nickelodeon Central open on December 26, 2002. This themed area is based on a similar concept which Paramount Parks in the USA have used successfully at many of their parks. This area, due to a lack of maintenance, has become one of the several unattractive features of the park. In August 2004, The Thunderbolt was demolished and sold for scrap metal. The park retained a section of track and at least one train which are currently stored in the park's back-of-house areas. The Claw opened September 2004 as the park's first flat thrill ride in over 10 years. Today, this ride still proves to be fairly popular with visitors, despite, the lack of maintenance put in, such as the fading paint.[citation needed] On September 10, 2005, Dreamworld's newest themed area opened based on The Wiggles, Wiggles World opened. The Blue Lagoon water park area was closed in 2006 to ensure that Dreamworld would not be competing with WhiteWater World, a recently opened water park operated by the same company. Mick Doohan's Motocoaster opened in late September 2007. It is a motorbike coaster and it was built by roller coaster manufacturer Intamin. The ride has proved to be a failure, with many riders complaining about the discomfort of the restraints and long lines. Today, due to poor management strategies, Dreamworld's popularity is declining rapidly, as tourists are opting to visit the nearby themepark Movieworld.[citation needed]" I don't know where to start when it comes to saying what is wrong with this ENCYCLOPEDIA ENTRY! I can't believe how obscenely inappropriate it is f someone to write such scathingly negative remarks uneducated remarks. Comments such as people going to movieworld instead of dreamworld... Poor maintainence.. Lets be serious guys. Almost none of you would have any idea how much maintence goes into these rides. I am extremely dissapointed....

Recently they have occasionally been getting single riders to line up in the 110cm-130cm side car line of the MDMC. This is done for 2 reasons, 1: one of the trains has a faulty bike where the restraint system doesn't work so they aren't currently using that bike, 2: occasionally there is not alot of parents and children waiting for the side cars meaning there are 2 bikes at the back left empty. Also to let you guys know, it's best for people who are 5'10 or taller to remove their shoes, it allows the rider more leg room, so they will fit better and the ride will be much more comfortable. Also sitting as far back on the seat as possible and placing your feet as high up on the foot rest as possible also allows for a far more comfortable ride.

Tower of Terror Closing Down More Frequently
saberon replied to Dreamworld Ride Op's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I rode the Tower of Terror today, to my genuine surprise the 'escape pod' was about 3 metres under the brake section at the top of the track, it's the fastest and highest i've ever seen it run. I know engineers have been working alot of the tower of terror recently mainly due to ebrake failure, perhaps they have sorted the problem but increasing launch speed (which is usually between 150-159kmph). -
Yes, Dreamworld likes commercial branding, just as movieworld does. Maybe they could brand it as what the local community is. Community branding instead of commercial branding.

You all forget, MLT's intentions isn't just for a themepark, it is for an entertainment district including shopping centre and hotel. so putting a bowling alley in the area isn't so stupid.
-
MLT owns AMF bowling and Kingpin Bowling. It sounds like a pretty reasonable idea to me, I think it would be good place for people to relax in the mid afternoon, have a drink and play a game or 2 of bowling and slow the pace down a bit for the rest of the afternoon.

i think the overhaul will be good, assuming the primary focus of the site will still be Australian, being an Australian site, with primarily Australian members. I personally have limited interest in international parks, It's unlikely for me to visit them much. I also like the current site presents with an Australian focus. Makes the site relevant, compared with other more generic sites around. I truly hope it doesn't lose it's Australian focus.

The most effective sollution in my opinion would be to install a set of friction wheels to the station segment, so the train wouldnt be reliant on gravity and braking to move the train to station and away from station.

Time for Dreamworld to bring in Mr Fix It
saberon replied to New display name's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I think Mr fixit has been around. much of giant drop has been repainted, the speedometer on the tower of terror is fixed, (we went 157kmph) and the wipeout has been repainted. -
Queensland Government investigates dozens of incidents

slow news day... -
I think the ride comfort depends on how far down u push the the restraint down before it locks in. as if pushed too far down it applies pressure against the thighs too much
-
you guys are forgetting the fact that disney tends to be extremely secretive about any developments, especially a themepark. They love being tightlipped and generally won't reveal any information.
-
I still stand by the fact if they increased the launch speed to about 80 (even higher maybe) it would be much more of a thrill ride, higher forces and faster changes of roll. If i were Maquarie operations limited i wouldn't rule it out as an option.
-
Yes it seems to be the standard, that if you lodge a complaint regarding a ride not in operation, when you check that it will be in operation, except in the case of bad weather, they usually with allow you a return pass or a free lunch voucher.

"they need to build their attraction stock with more variety before they start duplicating." - Shrek 4D is a duplicate of the Universal Studios Hollywood attraction Shrek 4-D.

Mick Doohan Motocoaster construction discussion
saberon replied to AugustVonPolen's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Yes there is a soundtrack, prerecorded, nothing special, is produced by 4 bose speakers above the ride, unfortunately the sound effect activates every time there is train movement from and to the load dock. So when the train launches from the load dock it sounds, and also as the train arrives to the load dock from the unload dock it also sounds. Probably cause the ride was really intended to operate 2 train only. Yeah I rode motocoaster twice, cyclone once, wipe out once and claw once. Couldn't be bothered lining up for anything else, as i've ridden them all many many times before. -
Mick Doohan Motocoaster construction discussion
saberon replied to AugustVonPolen's topic in Theme Park Discussion
OK I went today! the ride isn't finished at all. it's not a rush job, it's just not finished, they haven't sorted out the second train yet, they are still doing arcwelding, painting on many thing around the ride. The ride feels much faster than it looks, the track and ride is very clearly designed to replicate motorcycle travel. I found the ride position really fun, but uncomfortable, first ride it wasn't bad but second ride the back support squeezed pretty hard. It also tends to be uncomfortable on the inner leg, but i certainly wasn't squished by the bike itself just the back rest. The race noises on launch worked fine. The ride does loose speed by the time it reaches the final bunny hop, but not all that much, it seems the weight onboard the train very much effects the rides performance, well as far as inertia is concerned. It's a good bit of fun, certainly a unique experience. Although i will make a note that the queue lines on the ride were shockingly bad. 1-1.5hr. -
I'm sure Surf rider is a fun ride, but it truely pretty much a flat ride, that would be very close to a claw experience, although i kinda hope with slightly less positive Gs as claw kinda pulls my face down and is a very strange feeling at full velocity.
