Dreamworld for its size and abundance of rides. Although I also do like Movieworld for its theming and coasters as well. The only thing that goes against it is its smaller size, which makes the existing rides pack out fast and long queues as a result. I prefer Whitewater World over Wet 'N Wild, purely because they don't expect you to lug heavy rafts and tubes up hundreds of stairs in order to use half of their slides! They were smart enough to consider conveyed belts instead?

VRTP Memberships closing?
Theme Park Girl replied to Theme Park Girl's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Although it does claim that there is "limited memberships remaining" in the body of the email ? So I wonder what happens after this? Maybe the VIP passes have been selling better? I still see stacks of people with them every time I enter a park, more so than the Membership cards we have (which always get stared at like they are foreign lol) ? -
Tbh Zamora, despite being a born and bred Aussie I am not really a fan of the Mad Max movies, and think the concept of theming a coaster around them is (don't hate me!) somewhat boring. I think there are better ideas out there, not to mention Movieworld's proud slogan is "Hollywood on the Gold Coast". So I would personally expect more Hollywood/American flick based content in the park than that of Aussie flicks. Not to say that they wouldn't ever have Aussie themed stuff in the park of course, I am well aware they used to have the Young Einstein gravity house and the Wyrmwood scare maze etc. But I think most people would expect the park to be a Hollywood based experience iykwim. And that said, I just think there are much bigger and better VR adventure movie options out there. The new King Kong movie would be cool. Or something fast to match a coaster, such as the Fast & The Furious franchise, or Speed Racer. The list goes on: http://www.imdb.com/company/co0108864/ Purely just my opinion though... take it with a grain of salt lol. I just wanted to pop up and say that not EVERYONE here is hoping for a mad Max ride lol ?
-
Come again? I didn't think they were a temporary promotion....
-
Let's not. Geez, I must be the only one hoping it isn't something Mad Max related... so many opportunities available, I'd like to see them steer away from anything related to desert/Western related, since they already utilised that area to death for that. And no DC either, as I stated earlier! Anything else would be awesome, in my opinion ???

Wet N Wild was slightly busy today lol... this was the line not long after 10pm! Apparently it went all the way back to outback spectacular ? Needless to say the queues for attractions in the park were pretty crazy. Plus I think their Wave Pool is desperate for some maintenance, it seems to be working very erratic lately. During both visits recently, there has been wave cycle announcements with no waves following. After one today, everyone screamed and ran into the pool in excitement, only for nothing to happen and we had to wait for another 10 minutes. Then a second announcement, where the waves finally started. They only went for a minute or two, then stopped. Then a minute later the announcement came on again and the waves started again. They stayed on for a few more minutes (definitely not long) and then turned off again. Shoulda seen the mass crowd that walked out in disappointment at that point! I brought it up to a lifeguard who said the waves are in 10 minute intervals (duh. Already knew that ?) and then when I said the waves had been stopping and starting randomly all afternoon, she claimed they stop the pool if there is someone drowning, but believe me there was definitely nothing of the sort happening in there. Ive been visiting that water park for years and I know how it's *supposed* to operate. And it definitely hasn't been working very well of late. Fix your pool please, WnW!!!! ?

At least now they have the option to re-theme the area to something completely different. The western/boot hill theming was great to start with when the park opened, but became overkill when they added WWF and thus even more Western theming later down the track. All that really needs to be kept that way now is the eatery and the walkway down to WWF. Just hope it's not more bloody DC theming that replaces it LOL... I will cry if it is ?

Yep. I'd rather pay that same amount and get 12 months of park access. Much better deal for those who aren't interested in going to the AOS ?
-
June 2016? So 4 months' of entry for $100? Doesn't really sound worth it does it, even if it does include AOS. That could very well be the passes the tourists were buying at MW, though. Sucks if that's the case, I was hoping they would keep running the VIP ones as an alternative to monthly DD membership ?
-
Yeah I was gonna say, there must be the option still to buy the prepaid 12 Month VIP passes as a heap of tourists had them going into Movieworld a couple of days ago, a lot of them hadn't even broken them out of their print sheet yet. I can only assume they had just purchased them there at the gate. I know they are different to the memberships, but at least it does imply that there is a prepaid pass option still available. I think I will be looking this again come midyear, as I don't really want to do the monthly direct debit payments. Works out to be approx $50 a month for a family of 4! I prefer to pay for them outright and get the one big expense out the way at the same time each year :/

Oh c'mon... Now everyone knows that Lethal Weapon had the best preshow! How else would one have known the roller-coaster was simulating a car chase?? ???

What can Movie World do to reduce the strain?
Theme Park Girl replied to New display name's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I think one of the biggest disadvantages that Movieworld has is that it's a small park. Compare it to Dreamworld in size, even during DW's busiest periods the park still doesn't seem overly busy because everybody is spaced out. That and it has a lot more ride options. Half of Movieworld's rides are for kids, which means adults are going to be hogging all the other rides in the meanwhile. And everyone is cramped together down the main street and other tiny pathways. Movieworld definitely need to think about expanding, or at the very least start utilising some of its current areas that are going to waste (in. Western area in front of old Maverick show) so that people are more inclined to spread out more. That would be my suggestion toward a solution for the overcrowding issue. -
Wanda Group to build theme park on Gold Coast?
Theme Park Girl replied to DJKostya's topic in Theme Park Discussion
God I hope it's true and something comes of it... JP is one of my all time fave movies and the sequels are pretty much up there with it. I literally squealed with joy when I saw the article in my FB feed this morning. A dinosaur themed Park would be better than a Disney Park in my books any day!!! Bring it on I say ??? -
Adventure World 2015 - 'Mi2' Kraken Tornado slide
Theme Park Girl replied to Tim Dasco's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Ah ok, thanks for the clarification! And well done As I said previously, I don't doubt for a minute that you guys have worked hard toward your success. Was just curious where the stats came into things as I hadn't previously seen anything mentioned on the Tripadvisor website. Hopefully hubby & I will get over to WA one day to experience the park first hand, would be worth it alone to ride this Abyss rollercoaster I keep hearing so much about since we are both rollercoaster buffs -

After a bit of rehashing through this thread, I am convinced AndrewH aka Xenon is a troll... he can't even seem to keep up with all the blatant contradictions posted between the two accounts he has been using on this forum between last year and today. The dates of the posts speak for themselves. June-Sept 2015 Today.... -

No they weren't. Go back and check the thread again. The test carts were appearing all the way throughout the year.
