  1. Nice @themagician thanks. @Glubbo i think you're on the money for the crossover, and the bracing \ support layout does look like an overbanked turn - the spacing between what i'll call the main and bracing footings gets wider at the point where more force would hit the track during the turnaround.
  2. were these taken today? Because I can imagine first thing on a monday morning it would be quiet - i'd expect it to get busier later in the day.
  3. i'm just imagining a bag of sun rice floating down a turbulent water trough.
  4. i can't access terraserver for some reason - can anyone post an image of the 30/12 pass?
  5. The fact that each live stream has 24,000 views doesn't in itself = 48,000 people reached. it can just indicate the same 24,000 people watched both videos. 'View Counts' are also distorted by media, and - even people like us who do know better, who watch it to understand what happened. I'll conservatively give you 4000 views are by people who actually support their cause. Its been said and done to death. We've talked about 'our' sea world in comparison to SeaWorld in the US, pretty much from the time of Blackfish. this Mob have no idea what they're talking about - they're getting facts mixed up with the US park by claiming SWGC has kept whales in the past. They also reference distorted facts - such as how many dolphins have died in the park's care - without allowing for the fact that many of those were rescues that potentially had a low chance of survival anyway. I think the best thing to do here is to ignore them - don't post links to their posts \ videos - as every outlet they get contributes more 'views' which will be interpreted as an indication of popularity. They'll very quickly find themselves on the ban list at the parks, at which point the damage they can do will be minimal. I did however see an article over the weekend (thanks @joz ) and while i'm not sure whether or not it made it to Parkz, here it is (or here it is again as the case may be ) - this is what we should be giving airtime to: http://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/lifestyle/pets-and-wildlife/the-truth-about-sea-world-gold-coast-theme-park-reveals-all-and-answers-critics/news-story/df63b6e3c8c0cd4b493b5a9c2664a2ee (and what do you know - the bully has something good for once)
  6. Actually - it does: But I take your point on the 'based on a true story' nature of what you're doing - your image just didn't look right - and so I went back to check - and as you can see - it does.
  7. I wasn't suggesting have the cars follow TRRR channel. I was just saying that general area - apart from Buzz, the area isn't used for anything else now, so they could easily run a track \ path anywhere they like.
  8. there's no building underneath the square. Yes it would come close, but easily covered with a facade. The new rollercoaster has taken up some existing 'studio' land, so it's not entirely out of the question that it could be done. Obviously the surrounding elements of the ride do infringe on some areas, but they could be made to fit the area - the point is there was plenty of space for the ride, and it's surrounds to fit. Not as much in the Arkham courtyard.
  9. the cost to move vintage cars isn't a lot really - you need a road, and you need a guide rail. Everything else - refueling and other logistics - is already on site and easily relocated if necessary. Gold Rush's current isolation causes a bit of disharmony to the park flow. Once they've removed the necessary parts of TRRR, it wouldn't take much to pour a cement path (hell, they could possibly use the bitumen), and bolt on the existing guide rails. So it's an easy move - if it's necessary. And - nothing says it would be permanent - bringing a fairly safe, sedate attraction into a void in the park with minimal cost as a temporary measure until they are ready (and have the capital) to develop it further. Nothing says they have to demolish the current track either - so they could always move it back there later (although the current talk for that area may indicate differently). So - its totally plausible. I'm not saying its likely, or not - but i can see a world where they do actually do that.
  10. doesn't JL take a 90 degree left after loading before it leaves the station?
  11. but - for the new ride, if it relates at all, it would likely only be a pathway - the ride itself is unlikely to use that area. Having Doomsday in that spot would have connected the areas... Lol. Nicely spotted @joz Not sure if serious...
  12. If these guys shut up, and spent 10 minutes talking to a trainer who has dedicated their lives to them, they'd understand that everything they've claimed is complete bullshit.
  13. @Levithian i think he meant behind the fence, as in on the grounds of the studio And he's right - it would fit.... Like this:
  14. Something I keep coming back to with the Wild West Vs. Storm discussion - Storm has 3-way wheel assembly, does it not? Upstop, Side friction, running - yes? Wild West - i would imagine - has rudimenary running wheels, but no upstop or side friction, given the flume nature of the ride? I'm not familiar with the underside of the WWF boats, but that's my assumption. That then, for me, would be enough to differentiate between those two rides clearly enough on why one is a coaster, and the other is just a boat with wheels.
  15. I'm curious Jake - what isn't on RCDB that you count?
  16. ^and by association, this is i think why there is a questionmark over Journey. I'm not familiar with the ride system, so i'm making some assumptions here, but I can understand why people would see something like the dragon ride, and then assume that something like Journey must fit too - but by extension that should mean that Shockwave should fit it too, and then we all start getting carried away. I've always worked on Rule 3 as being the only determining factor - if Duane has listed it, it's a coaster.
  17. So what? they've still agreed to PROCEED with it, in the face of everything - which does give a decent indication that they have faith in the park's ability to rebound - dare I say also a good indication that they don't intend to offload the park anytime soon. OR it could be because the government grants that they received in order to build an operate an indigenous education program probably requires them to otherwise they lose their funding... which is also a possibility.
  18. when was pirates of paradise? i'm thinking to the days where it was just a demonstration of ski jumps, tricks - even the sit-down-ski - there wasn't any real 'story' it was just an awesome display of awesome skiing.
  19. I was absolutely certain that i've seen the pyramid come from 'up the back' by the bridge, and pass the stage from right to left. every video i can find on youtube has them coming out from behind the island and passing the opposite way. I really don't think I imagined it though - although I do see it obviously was done the other way a lot. Surely someone remembers?
  20. The thing that was truly impressive about the original ski-show was the pyramid. Previously, they had lake all the way up to the bridge to work with that, meaning they could 'appear' to the grandstand and all be in position by that time. with the land reclamation, they now only have the circular lake, fully in sight of the grandstand to work with - which means those impressive elements that really gave the show the wow factor are no longer possible. IIRC the ski show used to launch boats THROUGH the island, with pyro and special effects. anything less, these days, will always be seen as a poor cousin to the original. it reeks of PASS>HWSD all over.
  21. i'm thinking the reporter's reference to 'track parts' is probably the crates, and footing frames we've been talking about for a while...
  22. i kind of understood it to be him saying he has a friend who knows a guy building the coaster, and he's heard it'd be at least 1km in length, but that it could be longer than that, so based on these other coasters he has linked \ posted images to, it should give an indication of the size \ range we can expect. Thats my translation anyway. On the flip side (since you mentioned reputation points) - who the fuck is @gumb00t? (there also appears to be a @gumb00t2, and i've noticed of late that whatever the general concensus is on the forum, this guy tends to vote against the concensus, and does so consistently - take for example Intimidator and Skeet's post above. I get the feeling its a sleeper account of one of the few dickheads we've had around recently - silently waging war on those who called them out... @Slick needs an opportunity to flex his CL muscles so i'll see if i can get his attention to flag it.
  23. Shit. that's a great idea. Why didn't we think of something like that?
