  1. Could it perhaps have some sort of link to rocky hollow the stop motion animated TV show? A sunny woodland glade sounds like it would have fitted Rocky Hollow perfectly. I realise this series came about after the ride\area in the park did - but perhaps theres some link between the two?
  2. There's actually a surprisingly large market for this. I don't think they'll have to beg people to take it away, or give it away. they likely already know where it's going - unless of course they plan to use it on site.
  3. Now now Slick - there is more than one destination of choice for valentines day.... they also have locations in Toowoomba and Kirra Beach for total-southeast-valentines coverage! https://www.pizzahut.com.au/dine-in-stores (and gympie if you're really going the extra mile!)
  4. You've missed the point of this offering though - it's not a $350 meal for two. It's an experience, with food and drink included - kind of like the Star Tour provides lunch and snacks. What you're getting for $350 is what i think would be a fairly intimate gathering of couples experiencing Tiger Island - and the tigers themselves - as few would have ever seen it. As I said in my initial reply to this event, i know two people who don't drink, one of whom probably can't eat half the food on the menu, who (potentially) would still seriously consider going to this regardless. For the experience, i'd probably pay it if i could afford the price tag, I just wish there was more on the menu that i could eat (my wife on the other hand would probably devour it)
  5. It is a very good value offering. Absolutely. I just found the lack of choice for entree a little strange as not offering a choice immediately excludes some of your potential market.
  6. is that where the pin is... "large holes" like this?
  7. take a few camel bac pouches, line your jacket with them, and fill them with the soft drink throughout the night to get your money's worth *screw that - do the same thing, but with alcohol. Continue the shit-facing well into the following day!
  8. how big \ how far apart are the holes? are we talking a fenceline, or foundations?
  9. yes it seems a bit of a muddled throw together. the entree is quite polarising too for people with seafood allergies, and many of the antipasto elements also have certain allergens - seems weird for them not to offer a choice of entree, just as they do the main. Alcohol seems a weird selection too. And (although I know two people who would do this for the experience regardless of alcohol) you can bet few people would sit on the soft stuff whilst the beverage package is open beer and wine for the duration - i know a lot of people would certainly get their money's worth from the bev.
  10. in a statistical analysis and taking into account the subjective nature of opinion from one person - those two figures are close enough to call them a draw. it's not sportsball after all. If I were to use the same scoring system: Road runner rollercoaster Escape from Madagascar Theming 7/10 6/10 Speed 5/10 5/10 Height 4/10 5/10 Layout 5/10 6/10 (extra point for suspended) Train 6/10 8/10 Capacity 8/10 8/10 Re-ride 7/10 9/10 As far as theming - i agree RRRC is better, but i don't consider it to be as wonderfully drastically different as others have said. Both have middle-of-the-road speeds, and score accordingly - they aren't meant to be mindblowingly fast, and they do the job they are supposed to do wonderfully. Height - likewise to skeet's score EFM just tips the scale Although both have the same layout, EFM takes the extra point for being suspended. Consider the boomerang vs. the inverted boomerang (and yes, i realise there is a layout difference with the inverted having a crossover) - although both are technically the same layout (reverse lift, drop, station, boomerang, loop, lift, reverse order repeat) the inverted boomerang looks, rides, feels different, simply from riding on the other side of the track. I scored the train as such because i find the EFM seat and harness perfectly comfortable. I frequently bash the shit out of my knees on RRRC, and find it to be a bit of a squeeze to ride two adults side by side. I have minimal views on capacity - both rides take a similar amount of time to ride, load and unload. I've seen DW allow the next group to enter the ride area before the previous group has exited the gates, which IMO is a much more efficient load method. RRRC suffers the interminable operations procedures that MW has across the board. My memory is fuzzy on this point, but i feel like EFM also has gates per row, rather than single gate for the entire train, which I feel is also a plus (but acknowlege i could be wrong her e- couldn't find a picture of it). Re-ride - I have had the opportunity (at the dreamworks launch nite for passholders) to ride, and re-ride EFM for almost a solid hour, and it was thoroughly enjoyable (the operator was also a contributing factor to the enjoyment, as was riding at night). I've rarely if ever chosen to ride RRRC, except when hosting family with smaller kids who want to go on it. this is of course completely one sided, but it is opinion, and it's my opinion, so i consider EFM rates higher here. That leaves me with RRRC-42 and EFM-47. considering the point differences between them though, they're all fairly closely and evenly matched, and it will always come down to personal preference on these few issues where the factor is based on opinion.
  11. I didn't think the thread suggested that it was meant to be impartial - i took it just as 'what's your top 10?' I haven't really contributed to this either mainly because i don't really consider our coasters in a 'ranking' situation - i appreciate each for what they are - although when a direct coaster to coaster comparison is made - i can always see which one i'd prefer, i don't think it would translate to a definitive top ten.
  12. Must admit I never realised they have the same layout until Jamberoo mentioned it - a quick look on nearmap at them both and I was quite astounded - i'd never thought for a minute that they were in any way the same... but there you go.
  13. i'd rather pain in the leg than pain in the neck.
  14. You mean @Bussy (aka Wonderbus2003) - he pops his head in every now and again - I think his last visit was quite recent actually - November 3 2016 - to weigh in on the TRRR incident (as he was an operator of Snowy River Rampage at Wonderland)... With him, @Daniel, and even good old shifty @Nightshifter - gee those were the days!
  15. especially considering EFM is a retheme, i think they've done pretty well - the train itself was given an overlay, there were madagascar cargo boxes all around with clever little details. It's been a while since I was on it, but the station got a really nice once over too. Sure they don't have a forest of trees - but thats a bit harder to do in a coaster envelope.... i think saying EFM has 'no theme' is a bit too harsh - although i'll agree it's probably not as detailed as RRRC - you have to take into account the fact that it's pretty easy to theme a desert.
  16. Well... I severely underestimated the mountain the media could make out of this molehill, but the stupidity of the people commenting is even worse. If I were the parks, or the industry right now, i'd be looking at what legal options there are to get the media to provide some sort of corrections - perhaps running a story on ACA or TT where engineers, safety auditors, ride manufacturers and park operators talk about these sorts of incidents - why it proves they're safe, why it's normal day-to-day stuff. But - when you see just how fucking pathetic they can be over a white shirt - it's no wonder they're pushing this sensationalistic garbage for ratings and clicks.
  17. I'm u/v that purely because you bothered to do the math on a bee's dick.
  18. you can't see them though, as the lift is enclosed, plus can't film from the curb - so helicopter is your only option - which won't give you much to see with the enclosed lift anyway - so probably won't make a story out of it.
  19. As has been said already - this is a much closer battle and in no way hands down winner. I also congratulate you on creating a thread that asks a question without adding a poll to it. My first inclination was EFM - the nature of being suspended provides a much better 'i'm flying' experience which in my opinion is probably a much cooler thing than RRRC - remembering of course that Dragon Wagons and similar ground level attractions provide much the same experience for the little guys to RRRC - so EFM would be a 'difference'. I do have a soft spot for RRRC - although I can't really articulate why - but I find that for adults accompanying the little ones - RRRC can be a tight squeeze - whereas EFM permits leg freedom - so long as you don't put your feet on the chairs in front as you crest the lift hill (you can break a leg if you aren't careful!). so - i like RRRC, and don't want to see it relegated to paperclips - and - ignoring my preference for VRTP over DW parks (much like you'd compare Holden to Ford - everyone has a favourite and everyone has a nemesis), i'd have to say EFM by a whisker.
