MW Mini Driving School - Officially Confirmed
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to Brad2912's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Nothing sad about the original disneyland autopia... except it's nothing like it (in my own opinion) -
Probably nothing - but don't both Tornados face the west? Would it lack the same 'solar' ability that many of the others do because most others have wide open or northern facing pools?
-
hell if you're a QLD'er visiting Sydney for a week - $60 is a nice price to visit the park for a day, stop in for a night-session, drop by for an afternoon's dip... (If it weren't for other benefits, i'm sure its the kind of pass Gazza would love to make use of)

MW Mini Driving School - Officially Confirmed

Yes... in the same way Wonderland had 'beastie' (which many guests called 'little beast'), and bush beast - beastie was something smaller kids would ride and enjoy and be a 'graduating step' from kids rides to the big thrills. Now we'll have Tornado, and Tornado Lite... -

Such Creative. Wow. Thats a good selling point. (Looking at the photo in the article, it doesn't appear to be something parents can ride too) *For the first 6 months before we run out - at which point nobody will bother to order more and we'll just discontinue the practice. In other news, we're hiring more cleaners to deal with the several thousand discarded driver's licenses left on the ground. Carnivale* I know Movie World is ABSOLUTELY overdue for a good quality kids ride... and it looks as though they're going to be waiting a while longer. I'm quite underwhelmed by the concept, and looking at the cars, it doesn't look like adults will be able to ride. I'm concerned we've ripped out a 'fun for the whole family' ride to replace it with what is in effect a very expensive, high-real-estate-usage kiddie ride, that is intended to be EDUCATIONAL?>??????? I don't want to be too judgmental with only the concept at hand at the moment, but - like a year ago when we all first started talking about it - i'm disappointed. The WnW move confirms the excavators and other works seen at the park recently - and perhaps should have it's own thread? I always thought that this 'WnW Jr concept was something missing - especially when you see the wiggles area at WWW - this fills the gap nicely. -
Adventure World New Coaster - Abyss

^that's actually a fantastic idea - people would VERY quickly forget about the early-late-closure, and immediately begin discussion and speculation over the new addition. That said - I don't think we're going to see another massive blockbuster for a while - next season i think we'll see some love to some existing attractions. -
Adventure World New Coaster - Abyss

but the NORMAL season WOULD have closed by now - it's only that they advertised 'open until June' earlier in the season because of an apparently 'bumper' season (because of Abyss) and now they've baulked at the possible losses of a bit of bad weather (which you have to eat when you're in the tourism industry) and make two bad calls - the first to close the park at a moment's notice because of the rain, and then to rescind their extended season because the rain continued... My calendar is lying to me this morning, and i'm pretty sure Perth has a public holiday today, so this long weekend should have been a fitting end to their season. As I said earlier - this is going to leave a lot of people with a bad taste in their mouth after what has been a fantastic season. -
Hint of something to come for SeaWorld (Resort and waterpark)?

Scooby-Doo Spooky Coaster fire and lighting effects
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to Spotty's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Continuing your nerdy point of view - considering the movie (and the ride) are 10 years old, is the movie really relevant enough now to stay true to the theme (ala Wild Wild West) ? If the licensing details could be overcome - changing Scoob up could be a worthwhile exercise - it's still one of the most popular all-round attractions in the park, and is generally the first with a long wait, despite being a "continuous load" attraction - Giving 'the doo' a little makeover could be just what the doctor ordered - especially since the theatrical cobwebs and dust are now being overrun by real cobwebs and dust... -
I agree it would be nice for them to try something different Alan, but these 'themed events' have only really taken off here in Aus in the past 5 years or so (ignoring Wonderland's events which were never really outside of normal operations). The overseas parks have been doing hallowe'en christmas spring break etc etc etc for many years. What sort of event would you like to see them do, that hasn't already been done? (and I would caution you - there are many well travelled members on these boards that may be able to point you to a park that has already done it!)

It's just you. Bluey's is a better lunch than anything inside the park.

Adventure World New Coaster - Abyss

I am aware that they CAN be sacked with an hours notice, but the ability to give their staff MORE than an hour would be APPRECIATED which was my statement. -
well I did say it included WnWS (by helicopter)... so it wasn't strictly a queensland pass...

What will replace Looney Tunes River Ride?
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to WED99's topic in Theme Park Discussion
^pretty much! -
sorry to keep this totally off topic (perhaps these discussions could move to the lot sale thread?) but are the scanners the ballast discharge type? Understand if you don't wish to discuss Ifrit - but what are you going to do with them all?
-
paving the way for next year's "Q156 VIP Gold Magic super special platinum world discovery passport spectacular 'nWild stunt driver heli-pass, giving you unlimited entry to SW, WnW, DW, MW, WnWS (by helicopter), plus discounts on fuel, shopping, mobile phone credit, free entry to outback spectacular, free pit-pass, free lunch at Rick's, accommodation at Sea World Resort, and a seat in the Senate at the next election.
-
So it was part of the old studio tour once upon a time? Did the scanners all still have the 'green question-mark spinning gobo?
-
Honestly? I'm going with "A" - i'd prefer reef diver and stingray. Here we have TWO HIGH CAPACITY attractions, that are a mild-medium thrill that many people can (and do ride). Now let's just assume it will be a power surge for the purposes of a comparison - Power Surge: 24 riders, manufacturer's height restriction 122cm (some are 132cm) Reef Diver: 40 riders, height restriction 110cm Stingray: 36 riders, height restriction 110cm So you're taking away two rides that younger kids can ride as they "graduate" from the kiddie rides, that can collectively handle 76 riders per cycle, with a mid-thrill that the whole family can enjoy, and replacing it with something that will eliminate kids 22cm taller than those who were riding Diver or Stingray, that can only handle 24 riders per cycle, with a high thrill that most parents would probably shy away from, and some kids would too. (looks to Liz.wiz for an opinion on that) (Edit: Liz has said previously she sticks with Dreamworld because they have the better offering for her kids - more variety at their levels etc - if DW continue to replace these "middle of the road" rides with extreme ones that are not only a much higher thrill, but also a much taller height restriction - I predict Liz may convert as the kids grow...) I mean don't get me wrong - replacing high capacity stalwarts with low capacity one-trick ponies is Dreamworld's thing - but the question was what would I rather. I'm not complaining that we're getting a new ride - but as has been said - if they stopped wasting money on these gimmicky one-trick ponies and just built solid attractions (even if we had to wait an extra year for each one) they'd be back on top again. They really are the Six Flags of the coast - except Six Flags at least recognised that the way to get people through the door was to build coasters (never mind that you can't ride them all in a single day unless you pay through the nose for it)
-
I figured the movers would be AOS (which is why I didn't even consider taking a stab with all that dust! So i'm assuming the scanners were Riddler's Lair? Can't even remember it? where was it? anybody got any pics or info?
-
They just flogged off a shitload of moving heads and scanners in their last maintenance lot sale, but they seem to do pretty well with lighting... just have to wait and see.
