we've still got no info from the park. Jaggs could be smoking something, or getting his info from the dippin' dots guy. At this stage its unconfirmed... so until we get something more specific on site, or a statement from the park themselves, i'm going to view it with that in mind...

I saw more info last night and it seems the impression Jaggs had was like the crazy rider they have at treetops... Which is cool and all, but capacity on these things sucks (and these things are installed in every local kids play-gym \ party place - there's at least 2 in brisbane that I know of...

Remember that this photo is from the construction of Scooby, which replaced the Great Gremlin Adventure. Gremlins featured a "tour" of the WB Studios, with an "evacuation" taking place that lead you through the 'film archives'. The majority of what you're seeing in that picture are the old school film set lights. Many of this type of light are still dotted around the top edge main street facades. The only other thing i recognise that doesn't look like film set lighting could be a projector prop similar to this (except obviously larger):

to be fair, its a powered coaster. it's not like they're hard to put together - aren't there travelling versions of these things?

There are, though this image scaled 1:3000 was the most high res photo I could find pre-scooby and post-park construction in 1991. The others show different angles but at far worse resolution - This one came from the Qimagery site.

Don't have a cry matey - i'm just throwing back to some old-time parkz lore. Nobody said you were lying - just that it wasn't recalled \ hadn't seen it. If you'd like to illustrate things a little better - try this - First photo is 1998, second one is 2012. The shadows alone show the roof is higher (note the small lean to at the rear near the Lethal helix). You can also see the facades for chinatown - clearly they had to cut the facade off the corner of the building to fit the lift structure in, but in the 97 shot you can see the facades are level with the top of the soundstage, whereas you can see in the 2012 shot that the shed extends well above those facade heights. (Also pretty disappointing, given that the lethal theme was there for many years after, that they didn't extend the chinatown theming over the scooby lift - it could easily have been done in a way that could be swung away if the lift needed to be accessed)

On the contrary, a wave swinger is about one of the worst attractions for people with vestibular conditions (which includes things like vertigo) - the full 360 spin, combined with a rhythmic oscillating up and down means its very difficult for them to stabilise while on the ride. Suffice to say the GY page did not change its tune due to favors from the park. The guy who runs it had a falling out with the others who were part of the "founding team", and the loss of those folk resulted in the bias you see today. (It's fair to say the bias probably led to the favourable relationship they have with the park now, but it was not the cause of it) There is nothing wrong with them being supportive of the park - there are lots of fan pages out there that like to promote their chosen park and to completely ignore any of their faults (TBH, the MW fan pages are probably a lot worse when it comes to can-do-no-wrong blind adoration) - but I do think its a bit rich to stick with the 'golden years' name when that was intended to be the contrast between 'then' and 'now' - and the whole 'past, present, future' tagline is at complete odds with the 'golden years' name. Interestingly - I thought you said you didn't use facebook?

Don't forget they had to complete re-engineer the walls to take the load of the hydraulic lifting systems that open the roof in the event of a fire too...

Honestly removing the elevator seems quite extreme, even if the work is extensive? Unless the elevator itself needs to be replaced, it occurs to me that'd be one of the few things you wouldn't want to move... surely removing a wall with a few sheets and rails elsewhere would be preferred than unbolting an entire lift structure?

yep. just some sections after the load station and before the unload station. They got it in there with an existing building, didn't they?

I've been in queue, during a ride stoppage, at the bottom end of the switchback. mid-afternoon, full sun. absolutely baked. The Trident shelter provides zero protection from the afternoon sun (and it's got a glass roof too). Once you reach lunchtime, only the rear of the queue receives any sort of shade. The flyer on the other hand will have people mostly facing south, and the harsher afternoon sun will also be shielded by the Sky Voyager facade also. I don't think anybody was arguing the floor was great, only that it may have been necessary. And it was in the plans all along, so always as intended and designed.

Something that only just occurred to me is that the queue house is on the north eastern side of the ride. It means waiting guests won't be staring into the sun, and roasting while waiting (hello Trident). It'll give a great view of the ride, and keep most of the queue sheltered from the summer sun.

on the contrary, GD is too much for so many. Keeps the queues shorter for me though.

Given the mast elevates, does this mean we have an upwards seating pit?

They've already got one for you - it's called Single Rider and it will keep all those horrible people who have friends away from you.

Pretty sure that was after they ended up in court for Hair Raiser as they originally left Hair Raiser in Kebab mode and it was a point the neighbours complained on, so possibly a case of once bitten...
