  1. It's getting worse - I saw something yesterday talking about a 'Skullet' and... i'll just let you google it.
  2. Morning maintenance checks can reveal all sorts of abnormalities - a ride always has a chance of not opening.
  3. No we are not. All things considered, the current path is the right one. The Swinger, Rivertown, Dreamland, all of it. A water ride while they're still trying to win back confidences is foolish. Once these new installs write the new Dreamworld chapter, the next thing should be that, but not before.
  4. I see kids coming out at (primary) school pickup with a full-blown Warwick Capper level mullet - only to link up with their more-than-warwick-level parent, and I can only wonder about how long these parents have kept the trend going so that their kid will follow in their footsteps. I can't wait for Mohawks and then the boy-band-bleach-blonde tips trend to follow in a few years.
  5. I think though that you need to have some staples in addition to your unusual stuff. A 'swings' ride, a 'pendulum' ride, a 'flume or boat' ride, a 'spinny' ride, a 'dodgems \ drive yourself' ride, a 'all of the family \ carousel' ride. Not necessarily all of these, and not an exhaustive list, but you need to have some of these basics in your roster to round out the park's offering. Or to put it another way, it's to prevent:
  6. ^Everything he said. To add - recently some weekends have been quieter than weekdays. If you can only go on the way day, then don't worry about whether times will be bad or good and just go along expecting busier times and be pleasantly surprised if it isnt. Make sure you have the app downloaded and set up properly so you can take advantage of VQ, and - if you absolutely cannot miss out - bring your wallet for one-shots.
  7. given everything else in Main Street still fits the theme, it honestly wouldn't take that much to retrofit the facade if they decided to do it. They're retheming all of Dreamworks including changing a bunch of facades, so it can be done - they just have to WANT to do it. it'd be a complete waste of money - and i'd stand and applaud them for reinstalling something like this.
  8. In a community where everything is "your opinion is wrong because I hold a different opinion" having some stats to illustrate a point isn't a bad idea. Even if they're made to look worse than they are, you'd have to assume the bias would be even so the comparisons would still be fair and reasonable.
  9. I think we're probably over-analysing this fun little poll contest a little too much... Was cited by TPWW in their AW Vlog, so it does sound like it's permanent.
  10. Exactly. So for all the reasons it does make sense to put it there, the negatives of having two rides and a stage at the entrance isn't the worst thing in town. When you sum all of the parts involved here, it's still the right move.
  11. I started out ready to refute all this, and then thought about the Disney comparison (which everyone says isn't a fair comparison but still, they're the leaders so...) and the Weenie concept to draw people further in. The castle, the mountains... etc etc. and I have to admit that it's true... Then i thought about Movie World sticking batwing, Justice League, Green Lantern and DC Rivals all on the same 3m wide pathway. Soon we'll have Superman and Surfrider at the end of the same TWO metre wide pathway, with a potential shortcut connection to WOO land as well. (Oh, and theres not a single F&B outlet, and only one merch outlet within that entire footprint as it stands right now.) After considering this, I realised that adding a wave swinger to the fountain isn't the end of the world. ...And unlike Sky Voyager, Justice League and Rivals, you don't have to practically join the queue to recognise if the line is long and decide you should just go elsewhere for now. (Also, the show-stage and the critical photo point are one and the same thing so you can't really count both at the same time)
  12. I agree it'd be nice to have more 'on balance' comparisons but as pointed out, we don't have that many. If you were building a 'all stars' lineup, and you had to choose one of these choices - even being all different - which would you want in your 'dream team' - and when you consider it in that light, it doesn't matter if they're all different, it still prompts you to choose which one you want for the park.
  13. Agreed - we got a ride during the Carnivale fireworks and it was sensational - they need to find every excuse to run that thing at night.
  14. Jesus christ thats three threads in a row of you shitting on Dreamworld. tell us how you really feel?
  15. Laying it on a bit thick there old chap... Not every ride has to be a blockbuster e-ticket. That was where Movie World went wrong - building all the big rides it was sorely in need of a number of well balanced flats to round it out for quite some time. Dreamworld had a great roster of non-coasters (until several of them were removed) and they need to rebuild and balance. They're not going to win if all they do is build $30M coasters - and I don't think anyone else - fan of the park or not - has said that a wave swinger is a bad decision.
  16. As for why... because they didn't own the rights to it. They had permission to use the theme... until they didn't anymore.
  17. I remember Bounty's Revenge used to do that - test cycle right at like 9:58am or so so everyone lined up waiting for the gates to open was watching it. it was a nice shot flying over the top of the entrance gates
  18. HAHA! I completely ignored the SE helix and figured you meant WOO. d'oh!
  19. I think Wedgie has been out a while since it's both poor capacity and uses the same slide stairs \ queue. i actually think it was a covid thing originally but not sure what it's current status is. 2&3 have an issue. one that caused an injury. not sure what the plan is for it but it probably needs to be modified to prevent further injuries.
  20. Because they're probably renting it \ pay per use, and they've brought it in to fill a gap while so much is under refurb. Heck, Soarin' brings back the 'Over California' film for the DCA food and wine festival, and only runs it for a limited time so maybe it isn't a cost thing and just a 'do something different' thing. Even if you consider the entire queue plus ride experience takes 30 minutes, this just doubled the experience time as you can ride twice with two different experiences in your day.
  21. Besides the removal of the lift hill footings, not much has changed since August.
