  1. Park attendance is up around 15% this year. Re Big Splash: Yeah it's pretty popular. It's a quick queue, so even though it's big you'd have gotten through that queue in about 2-5 mins.
  2. What is the new effect in place of the fire actually like, by comparison? It's been a while since I've been on the Bermuda Triangle.
  3. Ok well I was wrong: Big Splash has proven to be very, very popular. An excellent temporary addition to the park.
  4. Big splash looks sucky. Claw would have been so much better. Oh my yes.
  5. o_0 It matters not the age but the quality, kind sir! I'd give anything to have the zipper swinging parallel to the boardwalk. That'd be fantastic. Tumblebug, ranger and UFO are all quite modern anyway, aren't they?
  6. Which part? The Claw part or the function dealie part? Pity they can't move Coney Island down towards Lavender green and extend the midway. Yes. That would solve all problems.
  7. A new idea: Since LPS is going for the venue oriented thing, I'd suggest some kind of massive or important venue out back in Maloney's corner so that they can ditch the "rides in a car park" feel out back. I'm not entirely sure what type of venue they could stick out back that would be important enough though.... EDIT: Also move the Claw on top of a building somewhere...Possible on top of the tickets building out front. >_>
  8. Seems a bit rough to say that you won't go back. Go back on a week day in the middle of a school term or something like we did. The park was quite empty.
  9. It's probably a bit **** of me to ask (it's probably been answered already), but where did you get the generic scenery to pull this recreation off? Stunning recreation all the same.
  10. Has an opinion ever been more wrong (that of the threadstarter, that is)?
  11. Shoddy Dutch engineering. They may as well send it back and trade it for a Moveit32, or one of those "Experience" dealies. Both of which are quite insane. btw, those picrtures above are excellent. Particular the Chaos at dusk one.
  12. ^Definately. I can't say I ride standing up, put I do make sure that I have my head pressed against the back. Gotta love the Zipper though, I love the fact that you're thrown around so much. Concerning The Claw, I'm guessing that by stalling we mean something similar to jamming? As in, the motor (on one part, who knows which) stop rotating? No?
  13. Lol, oh my no. If they were to sell my beloved Claw it'd be the end of my fascination with carnivals. What exactly were the problems with it? Anyone know?
  14. EASTER SHOW REPORT (sans pictures) The Good: Setup was a bit better this year. I love having Chaos set up in the main carnival instead of down in the crappy wing of the carnival section down near the crazy mouse. Actually, all rides were swapped around quite a bit this year. Super Sizzler is where the Zipper used to be, The Hangglider ride is where the Super Sizzler used to be. Zipper is down on the edge of the sideshow near all the large bungee/costly rides. That's about it really. In essense, it was a lot more cramped than it had been previously, which leads to a better experience (more later). Ticket booths were new, but that's not that exciting. The (formerly) Ten News Wheel seems to be getting faster every year. Although I didn't go on it, you can just tell that it goes around tremendously fast. The Space Roller type ride (name is skipping my mind) is incredible, as per usual. A brilliant colour scheme in such a dominating area is a perfect crown for the sideshow. Speaking of which, a lot of the rides looked quite good this year. Zipper was in a fairly nice condition, as was Chaos. Hard Rock looked spectacular as usual, and the Ranger looked a bit healthier than it did last year. The Bad: NO CLAW! There was a ride that looked very similar to the claw, but no claw itself. What a tremendous dissapointment. I've not been keeping up with the news recently, so it was a surprise to not see it there. The new Rainbow colour scheme looks as ****ty as it ever did. There's something very cheap and nasty about such an awful, awful blue. It fits in nowhere in that carnival, it just looks horrible. The Zipper position was no good actually. Far too open, which means less near miss situations. Also, it was operating far too slowly, at half capacity with far too short ride times. More later when I remember it I guess. Overall, I'd rank it as a little more dissapointing than previous years. I can't say I was expecting anything spectacular, but with an out of place Zipper, no claw and horrible Tuesday crowds, it just wasn't as good as it's been previously. 6/10
  15. Tommorow, aka Tuesday for me. I'll get a little report or something up for all of yeh.
  16. Heh, I wouldn't hold your breath. It seems as if there's news about its return every now and then, and then it turns into nothing.

    The Wii

Should be absolutely awesome, but I'm extremely dissapointed that Resident Evil 5 won't be making it to the Wii.
  18. Judging by the opinions I've heard from casual fans of theme parks, the critisisms of LPS stem from the fact that to them, it's unentertaining. They see a couple of rides, which may be heritage listed, but aren't all that entertaining by comparison to what they could have been getting. They couldn't give a **** about how old the rides are, they want to be entertained. The opinions I've heard are that LPS is simply not entertaining.
  19. It's already been said here but the chances of a camera causing significant damage on a ride are slim to nil. Sure, the camera could get jammed on the tracks (wrapping around it somehow), yet the roller-coaster would either as Gazza said, smash into small pieces or simply fly into a wheel and cause a wheel or two to slip off. I'm not an expert on the mechanisms of wheels and joints between coaster carriages, but I'm quite sure that one or two wheels falling off wouldn't cause a roller-coaster to fly off the tracks. No, my guess is that the carriage would simply dip to one side and scrape along the rest of the track, eventually coming to a halt from either friction or brake sections.
  20. I certainly didn't notice it looking any different. It always looks the same...I don't know whther that's bad or good but it's looking healthy IMO. That crappy roller-coaster, Zipper and Twin Flip are looking run down. Twin Flip's only a year old!
  21. Speaking of the Rainbow. The new colour scheme *thumbs down*
  22. I'm sure that amongst the computer literate people, a proper version of Windows has been programmed that can be run on any Apple computer. I don't know why though, Windows as an OS sucks. Apple OS's will also dominate in my mind.
  23. Bah, every new ride has been flogged around in crappy new positions at the last three shows, whereas the Claw has remained in it's prime spot next to the Zipper. Everyone rides the Zipper, and those daredevils giving it a go will see the Claw in all it's mathematical madness (aka superb ride motions) and it's extreme look and will definately give it a ride. Meanwhie, this tall ride will be shoved back like the Twin Flip, or the other crappy one that had it's debut last year yet was nowhere to be found...
  24. Hmmmmm, it isn't the most comfortable ride in the world, but then again, neither is the Space Roller. They both have the same basic style of seating with minimal arm room. The Claw overcomes this by putting the handles on the side whereas Space Roller puts them in the awkward position of being on the actual harness itself. Both rides are smooth, both rides have incredible programs and movements yet the Claw's movement seems to be more flowing and majestic than Space Roller. Here are some photos, I forget where I got 'em, probably from HussRainbow a few years back. Picture Gallery with PicTiger
