  1. I'm pretty sure the former Nick shop will stay. The press release sounds like it will be the Forever After's merchandise shop (that is if it doesn't share the same new building as the Madagascar Cargo Hold shop). Also, I'm pretty sure The Lair was originally a back-of-house tiger enclosure so I can't really see that being demolished. It seems Dreamworld weren't ready to announce this as the press release has been pulled from their website.
  2. I think Gingy's Gilder best describes the Kite Flyer. I expect the dogs will be replaced with dronkeys as jjuttp said. Avalanche and Bumper Beach seem like they will remain as is. Depending on where the Kung Fu Panda land is going to be situated, I could see these rides being rethemed then.
  3. Ride names have been announced as well as the addition of "brand new rides and attractions" in late 2012. http://about.dreamwo...N-PRECINCT.aspx
  4. Is this better? http://www.facebook....&type=1 The plain wall was actually part of the China Town facade. In the background you can see part of the Scooby Doo show building as others have mentioned. It is definitely not the Main Street roof as that doesn't have the WB logo branded on it.
  5. That sounds like one of the rides from Kennyland - Wild Wheels (similar to this). They did something similar back in 2002 when Nick Central was under construction. The rides then known as Kenny Karts (kids bumper cars), Dreamcopters (since Blues Skidoo) and Adventure Trails (jumping castle) were all relocated from their homes in Kennyland to the area where Wiggles World stands today. Looking forward to the photos.
  6. My expanded wild west area would include 3 new rides, a new show and a new food outlet. [*]Bandit - to take over much of the backstage maintenance area. To comply with noise restrictions the western end of the ride (i.e. end closest to the houses) would be partially enclosed with scream shields. This would allow it to operate up to 9pm for events. [*]Round Up - Mondial WindSeeker to replace buildings near the show stage. Similar restrictions on operation would be put in place for this ride. [*]Wagon Wheel - SBF Visa Group Wagon Wheel to be located along the back wall of the Scooby-Doo Spooky Coaster. Due to the style of ride, no restrictions would be necessary. [*]Western Showdown - a set similar to the original Western Action Show set would be constructed within the show stage. Elements of the current Western Town Showdown show at Movie World will be merged with elements from the former Western Action Show (explosions, high falls etc). Guests can enter and exit from both sides of show stage where there are existing pathways. [*]Food outlet - to be located at the base of the Bandit with seating along the borders with the Lethal Weapon and the Bandit.
  7. 2001. Some more information here...
  8. The Pirate Ship was removed ~2 years after the Surfrider was installed. Surfrider was destined for Sea World but the timeframe is wrong.
  9. POP did start a topic for this early December Anyway this article from last year states the following:
  10. I recall this may have happened a few years back but I can't recall exactly when. I do know Oakey Creek at Dreamworld flooded one year during the production of Big Brother resulting in boats being required for stuff to be shuttled across - I don't think the park was closed though. From midnight last night, the Gold Coast Seaway (near Sea World) had 130mm of rain. Coolangatta had about 110mm. Edit: djrappa you are right. Below is an article from 2005: http://www.forbes.co...afx2117430.html
  11. The Gold Coast Bulletin provide a little bit of clarification: http://www.goldcoast...coast-news.html
  12. My vote goes for MikeMac's Warner Bros. Magic & Adventure Land.
  13. Why did such rides rank in if they are "crappy"?
  14. When deciding challenges for a new competition please take into account what has already been done for previous challenges for Parkz Creative Genius (a was included in the original Parkz Creative Genius).
  15. Take a look at Universal Studios Singapore - they had a soft opening for more than 20 months. As Gazza has said, one and a bit weeks is nothing.
  16. Here are some articles from the Gold Coast Sun yesterday:
  17. Out of interest, what was the entry price beforehand?
  18. That reminds me of what 4 years ago. I agree it would be a good idea though.
  19. Another article quotes the General Manager David Thompson as saying the following:
  20. So was the ride itself second-hand? My exact thoughts on it all.
  21. I found something. Was this it? If it was, I wouldn't really call this an announcement. http://www.themepark...me/201112/2773/ If this was to happen, I wonder if the rumours about Universal Studios Hollywood are true.
