  1. @pushbutton Have you been raiding the Brandy cupboard again?
  2. Meanwhile, DW Management have been spotted in Southern California, gathering ideas for their exciting new attraction..
  3. From Disneyandmore.com.. http://disneyandmore.blogspot.com/2018/11/iaapa-2018-bob-chapek-unveil-design-of.html?m=1 IAAPA 2018 : Bob Chapek Unveil Design of Epcot Guardians of Galaxy Coaster, Ride Vehicle Test Video, More...
  4. I am totally fine with what they have done here. Especially when comparing it to the Jet Rescue Exit. In keeping the Non-rollercoaster Rider Folk's happy, howsabout adding few more benches, crank up the air con and pop in a couple of screens showing inside the ride?
  5. Love it!! There's your next big thing @pushbutton😳
  6. Clearly some People have plenty of money to burn.. or they're just stupid. Probably both. Grrr..
  7. Kinda. More Anti-Capitalist - they really didn't want for Americanisation. Germany already had a bustling Film industry and didn't want the yanks trying to show em how it's done, so to speak. I still remember a huge banner held up by a couple of Protesters outside Roxy Theatre that said "WBs GO HOME" - a picture taken by the Press and put on the front page of many Newspapers covering the Opening! Despite generating thousands of jobs and offering a sizeable boost to the economy, the locals hardly rolled out the red carpet! It was also really hard to get (and keep) good Workers.
  8. Hi @themeparknut2011 Australia's Movie World never had a Neverending Story ride. When Germany's Movie wWorld opened some Aus MW originals were improved and altered slightly here and there.. They included Looney Tunes Dark ride (yours was set in the Black Forest, ours Australia) Gremlins (yours had 'Alf', we had Beetlejuice), Roxy Theatre (Germany debuted with Marvin the Martian which Aus didn't get till later), Batman Adventure (roughly the same but Germany ride had a couple more Motion Bases) and Bermuda Triangle (roughly the same as our version formally located at sister park Sea World). Our Lethal Weapon was a Vekoma SLC. Not sure what type/brand of Coaster Germany's LW was but I know it had duelling tracks and by all accounts was a very rough and unreliable ride. Neverending Story was extremely popular in Germany and so it made sense to open the Park with a major ride based on it. As you know it was a large river rapids ride that featured indoor sections and large sets. I worked with the Staff that assisted in preparing and opening Movie World Germany back in the late 90's. Likewise, Germany sent some of their Staff out to Australia to help improve standards in Germany's Park. While in many ways Germany's WBs Movie World was a Superior Park aesthetically and with more content than the original, the whole "Warner Bros." Association never washed well with the locals in Dusseldorf. Opening day was an absolute disaster and the Park really didnt get off on the right foot. There were Protesters, a Skydiving Accident and a Guest had a Heart Attack while in the Batman ride. Both Movie Worlds have long since distanced themselves from offering mostly themed "experiences" focusing more on big rides and Coasters nowadays, but it would seem MoviePark was a better fit somehow for Germany once all the WBs indicies were all but stripped away.
  9. 7 News did an article promoting the new SW ride last night but instead of showing footage of the actual version they are getting, they showed footage of that giant 6 Flags Texas one instead, saying that it will be a similar ride. Hmmm..
  10. Look it's better than nothing which is precisely what SW would have got as an alternative. I hope it stays there until a more permanent, 60 metre+ feature version can be arranged.
  11. If temporary I'd be happy with that 40 metre Space jam one as seen at Luna Park Melb. If anything, a few well presented transportable rides could have done wonders for the Park over the last few ultra quiet years. With a little luck the ride will prove so popular that they decide to move forward with a larger and permanent installation
  12. The ride's program has likely already been set and tested overseas in other functioning venues. Once all equipment has been bumped in they can start closing in the building, interior Q, air conditining etc. For example, way back in the early 90's a Motion base Simulator was set up inside a soundstage over at WB's Studios Burbank where the initial Test and Programming was carried out for what later became the Batman Adventure ride at MW. It made sense to have it over there because it was where everyrhing had to get approved first and also so they could do all the ride profile stuff while the ride building itself was being constructed.
  13. The Lighthouse building has already been completely removed - only the top remains sitting in tact on the ground of the adjacent reclaimed land. A transportable temporary/smaller model would be disappointing. If true. I would rather hold out optimism until proven otherwise. Still, they had a tempory rollercoaster (wild wave/later thrillseeker) at the Park for years and it was probably a lot more fun than what eventually replaced it.
  14. Visited SW today and noticed the top of the Lighthouse is sitting on the ground over on the reclaimed adjacent land. Maybe there is a plan to salvage it after all?
  15. I have been wanting for SW to build one of these forever, so pretty happy at that. Agree with @joz odd location choice. This ride doesn't need much foot print so theoretically it will fit where the Lighthouse goes, but it will also fit practically anywhere else in the Park. I'd rather it be placed by Jet Rescue, keep all thrill rides in the same area. On the other hand , the Lighthouse spot is a fantastic visual location and your eyes are drawn to it the moment you enter the Park. @pushbutton apparently is the exception to the rule. For financial reasons I'm sure this wasn't what was originally planned and something with a much bigger budget had to be put on the back burner, at least for now anyway.
  16. Not the Park @djrappa -just the People in charge of wrecking it.
  17. Brilliant stuff Thank you @Coaster Hipster. Haven't heard much from you for a while, glad you are back!
  18. The Park is now in soft open. Take a look at these pics of this spectacularly themed New Park. I found this on Disneyandmore and themeparx.com if you are wanting to find out more. Some great ideas for our SW here and look @pushbutton they have a snazzy cable Skyway ride with enclosed cabins. -Something that I am sure you would agree our SW needs! Sunday, October 21, 2018 Shanghaî Haichang Ocean Park Pictorial Update - Part Two New pictorial update about Shanghaî Haichang Ocean Park, still in soft-opening until mid-November grand opening. Although the exterior theming looks finished and the marine life exhibits and shows are operational - except the Orcas show - none of the rides are yet working, including the Intamin Steel Dolphin coaster, always in trial operations. But there is plenty of new pictures shot by Chinese guests and posted on social medias site where Michael from Themeparx found them. I remind you that the park is located near Shanghaî at 30 minutes from Shanghaî Disneyland and will be SDL main competitor once all rides and shows will be fully operational, i.e anytime soon. Let's start by a great panoramic shot of the park, and you can see more great pictures in D&M previous article HERE.. New shots of the snow mountain. The entrance to polar mountain. The train ride is not working yet. The fountain at the center of Christmas Town, in front of the The Seal - Sea Lions show / exhibit pavilion is now working. Below, more building from Christmas town and the Kids zone are now finished. The Mermaids and Shark mosaic sculpture at the entrance of the park. The awaited Steel Dolphin coaster is still in test mode and not open yet. Jet-Ski show in the canal and daily show at Christmas town! The Skyway gondolas going from polar mountain to the volcano are now working, so let's board one of them from polar mountain station to have great aerial shots of the park! Let's enter the Volcano Whale Shark Hall to meet sharks! The flume ride is not working yet. New banners before the start of the Dolphin show. n The park has now three Belugas... ...And Polar Bears. Plenty of Penguins await you in the Penguins exhibit... According to Michael from Themeparx, at the seal exhibit inside the polar mountain, "guests can view the seals from both above and underneath the exhibit and come face to face with the seals at the cylindrical glass part of the tank". Guests can also have a close encounter with Sea Turtles... ...and even Mermaids! More pics of the Coral Reef pavilion. The underwater restaurant. The Jelly Fish exhibit. Sunset and night shots of the park! Make sure to visit Themeparx HERE as there is more pictures available and Michael adds new ones daily! Pictures: copyright their respective owners.
  19. I suspect that smell was coming from work going on in the area. Possibly the Maintenance bay but I wouldn't be concerned. I rode AA yesterday and since the recent work carried out, I thought it was the smoothest it has ever been. And I have been riding that thing even before it opened.
  20. Leatherface Maze for example. Mostly sound fx throughout and a lot of empty passageways. Granted, I go every year and you just can't help but compare the event to previous years I guess.. There are no more scheduled 'shows. There were some great spots (Kain, lighting, stage at front).. even the service in the Park was probably better than I've seen in a long time. The event just needs to step it up a notch now they charge a premium price for it. Doing away with the opening isnt that.
  21. Absolutely @joz it was more that it didn't quite feel worth the $65 price tag. Not when that is only just the beginning of spending for the night. There were obvious cost cuts - mainly fewer entertainers throughout. Have you been yourself yet this year @joz? I am sure you would know where I am coming from
  22. Weakest Fright Nights to date imo. Also the smallest crowd by a landslide. I fail to understand why you would bother wasting $60 on a fasttrak when our longest wait was barely 15 minutes? Up to $65 to get in tonight and I am certainly not the only 1 who couldn't see the value. There were meant to be 5 people in my group tonight but that reduced to just 2. Those not going were prepared to pay $45 but the extra $20 was a deal breaker. My partner and I did all 4 mazes in the 1st hour, had dinner, went on a couple of rides. Wondered around, revisited Kain - and still left before 9. I'd say the crowd size tonight was down at least 30% on previous years. Clearly far fewer Pass holders are no longer privileged with 1 free Fright Nights entry. I wonder how many People actually paid full price to be there tonight? House of Kain was excellent. The others were not. Leatherface Maze had many plain black walls throughout, it was almost like they spent too much money on other areas. The main stage at the front looked fantastic but clearly cost more to set up than was appreciated by most. The Band drew but few passes by. The big screens added around were also a nice touch and made the back area feel more lively. As did the fancy lighting rig at the end of Main street. Fewer Actors this year than ever before. Both within and outside of every maze. The Peeler was 1 too many upcharges. The Roxy 4d could be better utilised as a 4d splatter attraction that could run continuous screenings every 15/20 minutes and be included as another attraction to compliment the 4 mazes. I dunno.. something extra is definitely needed. With no real 'precincts' this year the line up was definitely lacking. A 5th maze maybe but they would definitely have to get more through the turnstiles to justify that, alas. It seems pretty clear that they have a tight budget to work with. I only hope that Chris and co can get more dollar's for next year's event. MW Fright Nights promises to be bigger and better every year. At least that's what everyone wants it to be. I hope this didn't sound too critical!! Ugh haha it was still a fun night but we all know they can do better.😁 6/10
  23. Ardent are quite possibly the biggest bag of dicks to ever operate a Theme park in Human History. It is absolutely no surprise they are keeping major attractions closed at the busiest times of year right now - And Why? - Because they're closing the books and getting ready to bow out of Australia for good, People. And they know it..
  24. For someone who spends so much time on Parkz @pushbutton you probably should know what a reservoir is.
