  1. I could see there being a point with an app if it overlayed the park map into the Maps data, giving you an interactive park map on your phone. Go one further and set up a Q4U system on the phone, would reduce the cost of actual physical units to the park. Simply bill to the users iTunes account. If you wanted to get really fancy, you could work out a way to feed queue length data to the app - maybe make different coloured icons for the attraction - green is less than 10 minutes queue, yellow up to 40mins, red over 40mins. The app could send notifications to the phone when a show is on soon. Throw in in-park wifi like McDonalds have at their restaurants and your customers would love you for it.

    NoLimits Tracks

Was mucking around in No Limits and came up with a track I felt like sharing. Hope you guys enjoy, and feel free to leave comments Edit: Attached Screenshot Beta.zip
  3. I was reading the Sunday Mail tonight and saw them mention Big Brother's imminent return, and positive talk about it returning to Dreamworld. It reminded me of this thread - perhaps coordinating the refurbishment of the Big Brother facilities and setting up for the broadcast is the purpose of the advertised role. Thoughts?
  4. Would be nice if public transport was a little more accessible after hours from the parks for their night time events - certainly opens up the option of having a drink.
  5. I quite like this idea of creating a Super Hero Plaza as you walk in - on your immediate left is the DC Comics store, Batwing, Superman is right in front of you, and head on through to Lethal Weapon (or whatever DC Hero will be taking over it). You could re-work the Adventure Ride building to work in reverse - in through the back near Lethal and come out near the walkway that will lead over to Green Lantern. It just makes sense.
  6. There's plenty of room for a decent queue building - look at the amount of space between that station track and the fence.
  7. I would love to see the pre-show area for BMTR2 re-worked to fit the queue inside, as well as some of the queue for Batwing. I know I find it more terrifying before riding a ride when I can't see it cycling right in front of me. The simulator equipment could probably do with an update, maybe get some newer footage - perhaps we could be passengers on the bike used in The Dark Knight? Loony Tunes River Ride - I'd love to see it remain as some form of water ride - maybe throw in targets to shoot at with water cannons in the boat. Not too sure about what story to use though. Bermuda Triangle - go again with a water ride - theme each boat as an Ice Breaker ship, and make everything look like Antarctica, and make it a Happy Feet themed ride.
  8. Perhaps they simply need to close it so they can knock down the wall and build the area up to be themed. Green Lantern is a new attraction, and if they need the space for access, you wouldn't want guests walking around in a construction zone.
  9. It could potentially be Poison Ivy - she was a minor villian, but green was her signature colour.
  10. Doesn't Arkham Asylum house all the mentally unstable criminals from Gotham? "Arkham Escape" anyone?
  11. Anybody for "Tumbler: The Ride"?
  12. This would be a fantastic time to go looking to buy rides! Manufacturers would be keen to sign up for firm orders to ensure an ongoing workload. Meanwhile, slightly off topic, does anyone know how the ride purchase process goes? I'm guessing here, but I imagine parks would purchase options on different models of rides from different manufacturers, then firm them up when the timing is right for them - similar to airlines having firm orders and options on aircraft from Airbus and Boeing.
  13. Any ideas when Movieworld might be putting out a press release for it?
  14. Shouldn't it have caused the block brakes to kick in, meaning each train would be stationery? Surely block brakes all have catwalks and stairwells allowing people to get off the ride.
  15. Two weeks ago the new shop had most of its framework up. I didn't get a chance to look inside the construction fencing though.
  16. They indeed are. I was at the park a little while ago and went up to the gates up beside the smokers area at Wild West and looked through the crack in the gate and saw the River Ride boats
  17. Just been thinking - Buzzsaw - Sounds like the standard SkyLoop to me, being that the tooth of a saw runs in a circular motion, much like the car of the SkyLoop will.
  18. I think the reason people are excited by Movieworld's rumoured addition as opposed to rumoured addition is that the El Loco from S&S has a longer ride time, with more passengers, and has block brakes which allow mutliple cars on the track at the same time. It appears to have far more G forces thrown at the body than the SkyLoop does. Wikipedia says there are 2 SkyLoop and 1 SkyLoop XT450 in the world, opened in 2004 and 2006. For the El Loco, it shows 2, being built in 2008 and 2009 (RCDB lists a third opened in 2011). I find it strange that a model has been around for nearly 8 years, with only 3 in the world, yet a model only around for almost 4 has just as many built. Perhaps it's a value for money thing?
  19. So I've been really slack and haven't renewed my pass yet, and they called me this evening asking if I was going to. I said that I was, and they told me that if I renew over the phone they'd send out a $10 gift card as a bonus, so I did. Might be something to keep in mind for those who have a pass to renew and haven't done so yet.
  20. My brother's flatmate works at the park and was telling me on the weekend that the hydraulic equipment caught fire/starting emitting smoke and they had to close it.
  21. I went down to Movieworld yesterday and took a few pictures! The view from just inside the gate: Standing near the Bat Mobile: Construction around a sign post: What's behind the fences? You know something is happening when you see this: What was the entrance on the Adventure Ride side: Looks like they're taking out the whole fence: Bit of a haircut? I think we know this is somehow involved in the works: The front entry to the shop:
  22. The one time I rode Mick Doohan I had to take my shoes off in order to get the bike to close, my legs were too long.
  23. It's about all that's missing from Dreamworld right now. Let's plonk it in the middle of Ocean Parade and make everyone walk around it
  24. If it is such common knowledge, feel free to enlighten us with it
  25. The IMAX at SouthBank is just the screen, they don't get IMAX films there
