  1. Especially comparing to places like Disney's Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. They both have a storyline and the theming is impeccable, they also don't show their age like some Aussie parks do, Typhoon was also opened in 1989
  2. Just speculating, But I wouldn't be surprised if Sea World installed another animal exhibit.
  3. Just my quick two bob of what i thought of last nights fright night: -The vibe in the park was good, especially with all the extra actors, and the staff did incredibly well also. -The lighting effects used throughout the park added the final touch, especially in Rio bravo as mentioned before and the entrance had just that more polish. -Freddy's maze was amazing, I got totally disorientated throughout it and we had just as much fun scaring the other members of the group, it was just a shame it was a two hour wait for this maze. -Saw was good, and it felt like there was only the one jigsaw throughout it as well. -It was a shame to see that they had moved all the smoke machines from Scooby, I'm hoping that when Fright nights are over that a couple of extra machines go back in there. I understand that this is a big event and that waits are inevitable, but perhaps some entertainment along the lines would help you forget how long you have been lining up, ( At a stage Saw would have been a 2 1/2 hour wait as the line stretched to the entrance of WWF) it would also be a great idea to have staff wandering along lines selling food and drinks. I would have bought a heap of food had that been an option, because you sure as hell don't want to loose your place in the line.
  4. Interesting to see, I missed it the first time round "and all the other exciting new attractions opening soon at Wet'n'Wild Water World" - I wonder what else is in the pipeline?
  5. Sorry to bump an old thread, and sorry if its been posted elsewhere. After 2 months and 4500 entries, a name has been decided on for the new quad AquaLoop water slides at Wet'n'Wild - the "AquaLoop", a very original name ! I do love Stacey's reason for naming it that.
  6. I think pin142 is pointing out how it will also have a laser show
  7. Problem was that it was only 3 teenagers in the said falling cage
  8. Mind you the poor Wipeout sounded pretty horrible today, worse then normal. It also only flipped upside down once, and failed to do the slow rotation it normally does half way through. Sounded as if the gears were slipping.
  9. I was out at Dreamworld this evening, I checked out the wedgie first. I didnt get a ride on it, while i am overjoyed that WWW has put in a new slide, I cant help but be disappointed in its capacity, as well as the extremely large amount of over splash that it creates, and to much water is NOT captured by drains (the bar area next to Eagle Boys is almost under water). It also hardly stands out from the other rides. I also saw Illuminate tonight, the emporium and other stores don't stay open due to the lights coming from the shop. While i'm sure the kids enjoyed Spoungebob, it left a little bit of want for the adults. Once Spoungbob had finished, the place emptied up quite a bit. The finale is good but not excellent, and there seemed to be soo much potential that failed to be realised.
  10. Wet 'n' Wild isn't taking this lying down though. They just launched a competition to name the ride and have redone the Billboards out the front to say something similar to "Australia's first truly looping slide". They also seem to be advertising what has been said on these forums, mentioning the trap door. First prize for the competition is a breakfast launch with 19 of your friends. Perhaps we can continue this in another thread?
  11. Thats the new QLD VIP lite, funny thing is that it is cheaper to get it then just a one day entry ticket into Movie World or Sea World. It seems that the email has only been addressed to the Q150 pass holders who did not get the VIP pass. The Dreamworld World Pass one is also $69 which is located here, but it is only valid from the 27th March - 30th June as opposed to the VIP lite which is available now. One would envisage a new pass similar to the QLD VIP pass, maybe costing a bit more for the next year (ie to cash in on the new attractions and such), and not with such a silly name, whenever i go to a park and i'm waiting in the line, i'm forever hearing the poor staff cope with complaints from VIP pass holders about the length of their line.
  12. Don't forget that you are eligible to get the VIP pass, and i tell my friends when they are up to buy their tickets from the myfun website, then i don't have to wait with them while they buy tickets.
  13. I would love a bowl or tornado alley in place of the terror canyons (we can dream), and yes the Tornado really does need a new paint, its starting to look really washed out and worn
  14. Originally the cabanas by the wave pool were similar to the ones by the buccaneer bay, but they seem to be replacing them with the more sturdier ones, every time i go out there the cabanas seem to all be full, and if it means that the park earns more money to spend on other things then thats a good thing.
  15. That queue line nearly holds what is inside the shed over again as well, they use it when it gets very busy as it soaks up a large number of the crowd from the main street as well
  16. I went to the dive in movies at Wet n Wild yesterday and asked on my way through the gate, they have extended the time to 60 days and each ticket allows only two entries in total to any of their parks, they have done this because some people were having issues activating their pass
  17. I was in that situation myself and found out that you have 30 days from the purchase date of the tickets to get the passes made up. Each ticket also contains two entries, then it locks you out PS Don't forget to take QLD ID with you as well Also was it very busy today?
  18. I wonder if we will see any more of White Water Wests catalog at Wet n Wild, or will purchasing 4 of the looping coasters meet VRTP's promise to purchase more slides then White Water World would have?
  19. I would image that they will go near the front of the park to liven that area up, and one would definitely hope that they all feed from the one queue. Just quickly, i was out there the other day and the new ramp out the front looks really good, but it doesn't look like it will be ready for christmas?
  20. You can however purchase a VIP pass using the gift card either at the gate or over the phone, as well as use it in place of splash cash (just carrying the card around)
  21. And the massive effect it would have on the currently strained goodwill with guests, but i wouldn't put it past WVTP
  22. Bowling Centers according to the Gold Coast Bulletin
  23. Dreamworld is inviting all adrenalin junkies to see in the New Year on the Big 6 Thrill Rides while rocking to some of the coolest alternate bands to countdown to 2010. Birds of Tokyo, Regurgitator and British India are among the six local and international bands set to propel music fans into 2010 in a collaboration by the promoters of 'Sounds of Spring'. Their raw energy will be matched only by a massive explosion of fireworks at midnight. Q4U is available (and recommended) to reserve your place in ride queue lines from anywhere in the park, including the mosh pit. Tickets on sale from Dreamworld website on Tuesday 3rd November. Event is 18yr+. Ticket price $89 and include access to multiple stages and thrill rides. Food and beverage, including alcoholic drinks, will be available for an additional charge. Transport will be available on the night and tickets can be booked at www.dreamworld.com.au. Bands include: The Inspector Cluzo - known for mixing funk and rock to 70’s grooves. I Heart Hiroshima - playing sets from their newly released album, The Rip. Mammal - hard rock and blistering live stage performance. British India - exploded onto the Australian scene in 2007 with their first album, Guillotine and then following up in 2008 with the release of Thieves, which debuted at number five on the ARIA charts. Regurgitator - With more than a decade of live performance, multiple ARIA awards and a formidable catalogue of songs under their belt. Birds of Tokyo - After the release of their debut album, Day One in 2007 the band went onto achieve Gold status in early 2009 with Universes, debuting at number three on the Australian charts. Sounds like a decent event!
  24. Sea World of 1990 looks to be of better quality then it is now
  25. Its the same coupons that myfun members have access to on the website, except in one easy to use pdf. I image that there will be a few upset current vip members, asking where their coupons are... I visited Wet n Wild today and a lot of the people there were VIP holders, a lot wernt happy that they had to line up lol. I joined the line at the end of the carpark (almost in the AOS carpark)
