  1. If they are simply testing the mechanics and ride system and performing general maintenance on it, then they don't need one. However, if they do plan on doing any sort of major changes to the building structure, then they would need a permit.
  2. A stud driver on a bike was hit by a car in the HWSD show this afternoon. They were taken to hospital but apparently they're expected to make a full recovery. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-02-14/stunt-rider-injured-during-show-at-movie-world-on-gold-coast/6100804
  3. ^ I'd assume that they wouldn't require electricity to run. Plus, they very likely have backup power systems so that if the power does fail, they can evacuate safely or whatever.
  4. ^I think it'd be pretty stupid of them not to do something related to it. It's one of the biggest movie franchises in the world, it'd sure be a major attraction.
  5. Well, I've been told by myself that right smack in the middle of that photo is what appears to be some surveying equipment. I'm guessing that's what anyone would be referring to as "something happening" on the site.
  6. I'm going to agree with reanimated here. As far as we know, the ride has been sitting there for almost a decade without being touched. I very much doubt they would be able to operate test runs without investing quite a bit of money into it already. I also very much doubt that they have been maintaining it to a standard at which they feel they can test the ride, but still need to invest a fair amount of money to bring it to an operational standard. However, if they are planning to reopen it. Then that is great news!
  7. The gravel has been there for a while. By the looks of the sand that has been gouged out (presumably by recent rain), it's going to take them a bit more time to make sure the sand is solid enough to build on.
  8. Would that warrant a permanent sign though? It just seems a bit odd to me..
  9. I'm just wondering, does anyone know why the SDSC closes early (3:30pm) now?
  10. You know, I'd love to see the following happen at Dreamworld: - Replace Eureka - Build a B&M coaster - Move the vintage cars - Remove/move/change the Motocoaster in any way
  11. I'm not sure if I'm hearing the right effect, but it sounds like something attempting to sound like an object moving at high speeds. I don't know if I've ever heard it while on the ride, so it may be yet another effect turned off.
  12. I think they need a bit more around the parks there. They have heaps of room so they could probably make something pretty good. I'd love to see something like this there.
  13. ^ They already sell annual passes which last a year from the purchase date. They probably get more money selling VIP passes like they do than they would selling them like you suggested with your suggested prices. Whilst you may buy passes which cost that much, I doubt many other people would, even if they covered extra charges etc.
  14. Game engines (mainly Unity) are actually quite commonly used to create animations like this. However, that's mainly when you want some sort of interactive component. So it'll most likely be some kind of complex animation software.
  15. Doe anyone think that with Pirates of the Caribbean being filmed at the Village Roadshow studios, there might be more interest in a studio tour or exhibition of some sort of the sets?
  16. I'd say that the first shot was taken near to where the entrance to Dinosaur Island was looking just to the east of the main entrance.
  17. It certainly doesn't sound like a bad idea. Will it just be replacing the indoor section of Dinosaur island or will it also replace the outdoor portion too?
  18. What are the actual procedures and safety requirements involved in loading and offloading a vehicle. Because I'd be almost certain that they'd be more stringent here than in the US, which would lead to longer load and offload times.
  19. By the fact that it looks like they've built a road there, it's probably going to be a while before we see anything happen with the site.
  20. Still about 0.33 times more expensive to build here than in England. (this is all based purely off minimum wage)
  21. But it costs at least twice as much to build something in Australia than in America.
  22. But how do you determine the quality of the ride? Is a quality ride one with lots of movement, or is it one with lots of themeing?
  23. For anyone who's ridden on it, do they teach (and to some extent try to enforce) any basic road rules in the way the attractions at Legoland do? Or do they essentially just let people drive around as they wish?
