Movie World Fright Nights 2016
themagician replied to Jay Jay The Jet Plane's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I've been the last 3 years, and from experience, the first 1 or 2 nights have longer queues because they are usually trying to figure things out. But generally mazes are 1-1.5hrs. If you do a maze within the last 30 minutes of the night, then queues are very short. A couple of years ago I did wait 2hrs for a maze. Ride queues vary, depending on the ride, but are usually 30min-1hr. -
Yeah I did. Really good interview and very insightful

With all the touches ups and changes happening at MW, great to see that aren't ignore things like this. Despite it sad seeing the last bit of the original theming of LW gone, I'm also happy they have removed this.

I could be wrong, but doesn't Doomsday breath fire, so maybe there will be fire out of his mouth. -

I agree, I don't think there is anything wrong with the fence around GL, and at least they added some sort of theming (the lantern on top of the posts) around it that had the green glow to them at night. -
Apparently Nickelodeon Land is open for a sneak preview, again.

SDSC is only closed for maintenance for 3 weeks, so I don't think it's getting a refurb. Just a general maintenance period. -
I checked out the area this morning, and think what SW have done is a major improvement from what was there, allows for better flow of traffic and opens up more opportunities for SW now there is a roof over the area. I agree with some of the comments that have been made, but I don't think they were going for a particular theme as such, but something that was bright, simple and flowed. I think they have done that. That could've done a themed area, to a dock yard for example, but I don't see the need. The plaza isn't exactly in a themed area of the park, but I think follows the feel and design of the park. Well done to SW. Here a just a few pics I took.

Tiger Island Refurbishment - Dreamworld 2016

Today's update. The rock work is nearing completion. And the hut has been moved. -
Something I noticed when I saw leaving the park today, was there was some work happening on the grassed overflow area. There were a couple of diggers and mounds of soil that had been dug up. It was happening in the far bottom left corner. And a progress update for the old bumper cars:

Quick update for the day. Plenty of holes are being dug/drilled. Some of the reinforcing steal was being welded. And the trees have been cut next to GL. And as mentioned there are pegs in this area near GL, as well as on the other side of the creek. -

Just checked out the area. And progress is great. Poison Ivy has appeared near Killer Croc. The strange cutout for the truck has been fixed up now. The wall next to SDSC exit has been themed. The strange cut out in the wall has been fixed up. Along with the rest of the fencing being put in place. And I noticed the bent metal affect is behind the signage too. -

Was just looking through your photos again, and only just noticed Killer Croc and the really cool detail/affect they've done with the ground, as if he's smashing through it. And great to see the bent still frame work back again. Great job MW -
^Agreed, seen some photos from the event that was at the park tonight, and it looks great. With all the lights and facades the space looks fantastic, and looks better in every way to what was there. Can't wait to check it out this week.

8 minutes.... That just doesn't seem right at all. Unless there is a long pre-launch/lift hill section of the ride, and it moves through it slowly. If you'd said 2 minutes, then yes, very believable. Otherwise, @Theme Park Ninja I have my doubts, or the staff member misheard -
I think this photo really shows that the monorail is well clear of the roof (Photo: AusParks)

Just watched a news story on the proposal for the casino and nothing has been approved or proposed at this point in time, as usual it's just the news papers saying untrue things. However if the casino were to be constructed, a bridge would also be constructed across the Broadwater. Also sea world have said that the statement that the park will be doubling in size are untrue and at this stage no such plans exist.

The ad has been released for the maze: -
There used to be bridge that crossed over that area of water. But was removed in the 60s.

There was this article from 2014 about a cable car ride travelling past to the spit and over the broadwater. http://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/news/gold-coast/a-bit-of-a-stretch-a-24km-cable-car-ride-going-to-southport-the-spit-south-stradbroke-island-and-sanctuary-cove-could-be-built-before-2018/story-fnj94idh-1226813502386

VRTP keeping and revealing secrets
themagician replied to DaptoFunlandGuy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I agree Alex. If they really didn't want us to see things they'd cover them up straight away. And if you're theory is correct, good on MW for doing it. I suppose in the past, up until the last couple of years, there were less theme park enthusiasts, there wasn't as much need to tease the way they have been, because people either weren't noticing or not visiting the park as regularly. But with one of us visiting the park nearly every day, we don't really miss anything. Doing these 'sneak peeks' is getting us talking and excited about things happening, and I guess that is what MW would want, unless the info was confidential. -
If they are increasing the size of the park, I do hope that they don't go and remove/destroy that bushland along the coastline. That is a really important ecosystem for that area, and I feel that would be much better to look at from the beach, then a theme park. But i am fairly sure that land is protected anyways.
