Apparently the Wicked Witch wait time is already over an hour and Kansas Twister is having some technical issues and it’s opening is delayed as of 10:30 -
Wizard of Oz - Movie World Arkham Asylum Replacement
themagician replied to Park Addict 93's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I’ve been on TNT at Gumbuya World (same ride as Flight of the Wicked Witch) and it is a surprisingly very enjoyable and re-ridable experience. It’s much quicker than you expect, has some great little pops of airtime, good forces and is super smooth. From what we’ve seen I think Rivertown is a better and more immersive land, but Jungle Rush might not necessarily be the best coaster of the 3 (I haven’t been on it so I can’t compare accurately). -
I can’t imagine they’ll be adding many more physical elements to the ride, but there might be effects that haven’t been turned on just yet.

Wizard of Oz - Movie World Arkham Asylum Replacement
themagician replied to Park Addict 93's topic in Theme Park Discussion
The headline for the article says "From two ground-breaking roller coasters to high-tech holograms, no expense has been spared in this $100m new theme park attraction recreating the world of the Wizard of Oz." Since when were the park spending $100 million on the Wizard of Oz? That's three times the cost of Rivertown. That's the roughly the same price Universal spent to build VelociCoaster. The bar has now been set very high if they really spent that much. -
Wizard of Oz - Movie World Arkham Asylum Replacement
themagician replied to Park Addict 93's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I saw this and the first thing I thought was they’ve rushed to open the land so they can beat the competition. I’d imagine they probably did plan to soft open the land today (like a few people heard) and then officially open on Boxing Day. Interesting that they’ve only said that for one of the attractions too. -
If anyone’s got tickets to the event over the next 3 nights, you might get to check out Wizard of Oz at night! Tickets are still available for Sunday if anyone hasn’t already got them and wants night rides.

Within the park you do only find the characters within Dreamland (and now as a photo op for MM). It’s not like you find them at every corner of the park. If K&B appeared anymore than this then I’d agree, but I think this as a photo op is fine.

I don’t think we’ll see a full on-ride POV for a while, if ever from the park. I think they want to keep it as a surprise and since they can operate the ride in different modes the POV would only show one version of the rides offering. And as a lot of the ride is in the dark the POV probably wouldn’t do it justice.

Absolutely. Because of the turntable, they can essentially change how long the ride experience is. During peak times they’ll operate with two trains and a shorter ride time, but in quieter they can run the ride on a longer program or some where in the middle. If they really wanted to, they could load one train and have it going around the track all day without coming into the station.

From what I’ve seen so far, nope. And it didn’t appear MM was open either, but this could also open any day as part of the soft opening. But keep in mind as it is a soft opening there’s a chance Jungle Rush might not operate every day, or only briefly.

My understanding is because it’s soft opening, not everything has been turned on yet and there might be more to come during the ride experience once it’s officially open.

Rivertown has soft opened. Not sure if the rides are yet available to guests, but you can walk under the archway and the store is open

Yes, but it’s the same fence. It was black and now it’s white (which is a lot more suitable for the white aesthetic for the ride)

Sea World Carnivale returns again for 2025 and is on every Saturday been February 1 and March 1 from 5:30-8:30pm. The event appears to be the same as the last few years, with the returning precincts, shows, entertainment and uncharges. Tickets are $49 for kids, $69 for adults, free for One Pass holders and they’re offering a 50% discount if you have the One Lite Pass. https://seaworldcarnivale.com.au

Side note, massive shout out to the entire construction and Dreamworld team who are working around the clock in all conditions to get Rivertown complete before the end of the year. What you are creating looks to be setting a new Australian theme park standard for immersion and story telling.

Yes, but they did theme the posts instead of just having a black standard pole. If that is the only minor thing on the scale of this project, then that just shows how good of a job they done. Yes a fully themed fence would’ve been great, does it really matter… no!

VR Locals One Pass - price rise coming 11/11/24
themagician replied to westical's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Price rise has happened and the Locals One Pass has increased by $10 to $229 Not sure how long this has been the case but it is also now the same price to enter all 3 parks (I’m sure WnW used to be cheaper). $99 Child, $109 Adult. -
I wouldn’t take that is fact yet because it’s likely they just forgot to extend the closure to match what the calendar goes to. I don’t think it’s offical reopening date will be confirmed until a few weeks before it will actually reopen.

I’d say it’ll just keep getting pushed back until Rivertown opens

2024-2025 Christmas trading hours for the Gold Coast
themagician replied to New display name's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I’ve heard the inside fit out is almost complete and the exterior was being repainted last week. I think the park are really pushing to have all four areas (store, motors, jungle rush and restaurant) to all be complete upon the offical opening. There might be some little details here and there to finish off later, but I’d say the land will be at least 95% complete when opening.- 17 replies

For those who didn’t even think the land would be open until Easter, the park has announced a After Dark event on January 18 that will have the land open for. Based on the rapid progress so far this month, I think they’ll be ready for Boxing Day.

2024-2025 Christmas trading hours for the Gold Coast
themagician replied to New display name's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Interesting (but good) it’s a passholder exclusive, but when it’s only $10 entry it’s great to see if they’re giving passholders exclusive access to ride the claw at night for one last time and the opportunity to check out Rivertown at night for the first time.- 17 replies
