  1. Not going to lie though BD is probably the ride I'm most looking forward to before any Sydneysiders feel personally attacked by my comments 🙂
  2. To me I find the conflict reassuring. If Covid was a NWO bullshit thing to get us to take vaccines and all governments were in on it, you'd expect a much more coordinated response. That it's ramshackle and is made up on the fly says to me that it is fallible people in government honestly doing their best to respond to a situation.
  3. "A popular feature from the last Big Dipper which we were enthusiastic to incorporate into the design of this ride is a part of the layout where the train can stall"
  4. I'm not entirely opposed to it. Maybe just let the virus loose in the camp, and in a few weeks the survivors (of which there will be plenty) can rejoin society? For the record, 97% of me is joking, probably about 3% of me means it, but according to people who are anti vax, a 3% rate isn't worth doing anything about 🙂 @Gazza is spot on. I don't think legally you need to extend passes, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't. Act in good faith, and give the nutters an extension.
  5. Personally, I'm all for rounding up the unvaxxed and putting them in hotel quarantin/mass sterilization camps till they decide to get jabbed. I accept that's probably a bit to far, so perhaps a good faith thing of 'we'll extend passes for the unvaxxed, but you have to call us to alert us to the fact you're unvaxxed is a fair compromise. The way it works is it's from December 17th, till the date restrictions ease, OR the date you use your pass again (Because you stopped being an F wit, got vaccinated and decided to celebrate by going to a park).
  6. @DaptoFunlandGuyI'll be honest, this seems like arguing for the sake of it. Yes they're hiring for school holidays, AND they are having to stand people down for vaccination reasons and have lots of positions to to fill. The 2 things aren't mutually exclusive. Vaccine stand downs are not the only reason (for the recruitment drive). Edit: @Brad2912 beat me to it by a few seconds
  7. Number 1 thing the media will cover on December 18th: Covid 19 restrictions. Number 2 thing the media will cover on December 18th: Nothing
  8. I mean even if it's only 10% of staff, that would blow a huge hole in their rosters. I'm sure they would have been hiring anyway, but you have to bury your head in the sand pretty deep to imply that it isn't a huge factor in their hiring right now.
  9. I've seen the WB Hotel covered in a lot of places, and to be honest I'm not feeling it at all. Deapite a couple creative touches, there is just so little soul in what they do in that part of the world and this is a good example of it. You know how the new Space Jam was a soulless ad for Warner Brother's extended catalogue? This is the Space Jam of hotels. It actually makes me think that Hotel V, which I orginally hated as an idea, is a much better choice for Oxenford. It works better as a hotel for the whole site since despite being outside Movie World. Remember there are 4 other attractions on site that have nothing to do with Warner Brothers. Sure it'll probably also be a big bland Corperate hotel, but I actually think full generic is better than the half generic thing that WB Hotel offers.
  10. Just to beat the dead horse further, for large part of its history DW had a water park not just next door, but literally included as part of the park, 2 water rides where you got wet, as well as a boat ride where you stayed dry. Water rides are popular. I don't think DW should build a rapids ride, but a quality modern log ride or shoot the chutes would be a pretty easy win.
  11. I was ready for this thread to be a train wreck. Fair play so far. See what the damage is tomorrow
  12. Interestingly Aussie World have removed the cringe furry backstory from their website:
  13. Is there anyone who is not visiting due to fear Covid? Must be single digits a day. I'm vaccinated, you should be vaccinated too, and if you're not you should be denied medical care, but IMHO there's a lot of 'fucked' in this. Interesting times.
  14. Oh for sure AA should be gone by now.
  15. I mean I've said what I've said. It's reasonably known that an Arkham replacement is in the works that is well progressed. There is considerable chatter from many places to that end that there simply wasn't with Vikings. When it'll open who knows, but the insinuation was that they only can do one thing at a time. I'm telling you that's not true.
  16. Superman's was fine, but a bit pointless when you don't have your wallet with you.
  17. Well there were spending opportunities in Gold Rush Country like old time photos and F&B. The design philosophy was very different back in those days too. With ST I'm just going to pretend that the entrance is next to SV, and that there is no dead end. I feel better already 😃 FWIW I also don't mind exit shops, but just put some effort in. There's a difference between ToT's/Scooby's exit shop and Jet Rescue's.
  18. Did you have it up too loud because you were enjoying it so much? Weird
  19. Devil's advocate: if you're DW no way would you open a path to GD as all that does is bypasses the ice cream parlour, candy shop and cafe. It's one of those things where you go 'It'd be nice if' but the business case really isn't there.
  20. I guess I see new WWF boats and Road Runner trains and minor new attractions as the sorts of incremental improvements you're asking for. As you say, they do add minor stuff along with major stuff. I think what surprised me and why I slightly misinterpreted your post is I didn't think your point was 'there's only 1 major thing in the pipeline across all properties at the same time because theyre treated as a single entity' because I just don't see the evidence for that. I think its an open secret that there is a replacement for Arkham coming which isn't minor, and that it's in the pipeline right now, and has been for a while now. By GC standards, new slides at WnW and the splash pad is a major project. Not the same as a new coaster perhaps, but it's far more than something like constrictor. This is at the same time as a MW hotel is being plannes and apparently planning what's next for SW and I think that line falls apart. Flume taking a while to be replaced isn't a shock since it was closed at very short notice after TRR. In an ideal world I think they should have replaced it before dealing with New Atlantis but that's a total side issue. Another side issue is the lag between announcements and opening. I agree in the last few years it's been nuts, made worse by Covid but still nuts. The announcement timing for non Atlantis stuff has been fine though. I'm not sure they've even announced what they're doing with WB Showcase have they?
  21. I wonder if it's an attempt to make the no sports shorts/shorts bras thing seem more reasonable by lumping it in with clearly ridiculous things.
  22. I should get this printed out and put in my office, always need to remind myself of this.
  23. @DaptoFunlandGuyI don't think the old ride relocation program is as much of a thing as it used to be when we were getting into parks. Otherwise +1 to the 'Village Roadshow Branding in the parks needs to go. Been saying it for years, and I'll keep saying it. The current uniform to me looks like the sort of thing I would expect someone who works in the F&B warehouse to wear, not all front line staff. The parks also have different vibes, and I think paying to the strength of each is a better move than a bland Corperate thing across parks. Standard rant aside, yay for price rises! I feel like some of the sanity is being restored to the pricing. Even with a new coaster, I really don't think they'll struggle to outdraw DW. I think if you're a DW you'd be stoaked because of VRTP went back to $99 year passes right now, DW would be royally fucked. This at least gives them a place to exist in the market: DW is a small, value park with a few good thrill rides and a decent collection of kids stuff. Hopefully they've shrunk as much as they need to and can start to grow in a sustainable way. I visualise DW & SW as a spring being compressed, creating a load of potential energy. Both companies are talking like they want to make their parks good, I do see the past few years for both SW and DW as a transition phase between the old and new. Neither has done it well, but hopefully both have visions for bigger, better parks. Neither ST or Leviathan will be enough to be the last piece, signs are that Village get that, I'm sure DW do too. Finally, I think saying they shouldn't stagger major new attractions across parks is kind of silly. Like yeah it would be really cool to debut Leviathan at the same time as as Arkham's replacement, but it makes no business sense. It's not like it's because of the 'single entity' thing either. Otherwise they would have spent the extra cash needed to get Leviathan open at the same time as ST. They don't want to canabilise another company ideally, why should they canabilise themselves? Also the idea that they aren't adding/ maintaining it laughable. I suspect it's a temptation to ignore stuff if it isn't directly exciting to them. WWF boats and new Road Runner trains aren't cheap and do require effort and money. Changing out WB Showcase isn't the most exciting thing they could do, but it isn't nothing. New slides at WnW are long overdue, but two mirror master masters would have done that. They are adding the other smaller slides and the splash pad. That and new Atlantis was in the pipeline together. There's always some small stuff like that going on even when there's major additions at one park. PS: Excuse the grammar, trying to type while out walking has never been a strength of mine.
