  1. Won’t they reuse the original Big Dipper entrance? The building that used to be the entrance to the Tumble Bug and actually says “Big Dipper” Lmao As shown in previous designs, we can clearly see a building at the top of the original staircase, with the track going in and out of the smaller building (boarding area).
  2. Just at Luna Park now, noticed they are adding the lift cables onto Loopy Lighthouse, so we might see the carriage and top being placed back on soon if all goes well.
  3. I have recently applied for the rides attendant position there, I have an interview tomorrow! I will also be sure to arrive a bit earlier and try and get some more shots and/or a video
  4. It's good to see the first piece of BD rail out!
  5. Ah! Now that’s a great possibility there! I forgot about Vekoma’s new launched flyers, which are THE BEST coasters for a Batman theme, right? I also forgot Vekoma had their STC now to replace the Slc models haha. Honestly, for what we had, it was a smooth slc!
  6. Honestly, I’m just hoping for Australia’s first B&M! Definitely not a hyper cause the park already has that. Movie World has shown they have the money for large scale attractions, and some people believe it to be a dark ride or something? They would have to replace Arkham Asylum with an equally, if not more thrilling attraction imo. Either a B&M invert or a mini dive machine! That would match the theme great, like Batman diving off of a building or something?! Whatever they do, I’m sure it will be epic! So yeh, sticking with the Batman theme is a real possibility that I find likely.
  7. I'd say it's an "all things going well, early December" scenario so far. Obviously this might change in the future, but Luna Park seems to be right on schedule with the 8 new rides being installed now. As stated on the website, they are definitely aiming for a December opening. Earlier on in development they stated to the Sydney Morning Herald that a November/December reopening would be the plan. I believe they would be aiming for an opening around December school holidays to get the best bang for their buck, so 20th of December is my best absolute guess. This is just speculation though, opening dates are extremely malleable as we've seen in the past, especially recently due to Covid! XD
  8. Sledgehammer revealed today on the website Also forgot the logo here:
  9. Double reveal today, Cloud Nine and Freaky Frogs:
  10. Wow... that was my favourite ride as a kid! Almost forgot it existed :,) I rode it just before it was removed in the next year or so, as Stingray.
  11. I don’t know guys, but this looks like a definite ride replacement for Arkham Asylum! Look at Movie World’s comments earlier this year Definitely ties in with the recent post saying there will be “an exciting announcement”. Unless there are TWO exciting announcements lol.
  12. Ah yeh, don’t know why I didn’t think of that haha. Bermuda triangle and Vikings Revenge were awesome water rides though, I remember just being able to get on BT before it got removed and I was like 7. I guess I just miss a good ol fashioned flume ride of some sort and a water coaster doesn’t really make that for me. Storm coaster has one lil part at the end, which I find charming in that way.
  13. Vikings Revenge is still thoroughly missed by me, they should use that existing construction for another flume ride or any water ride really!! Seaworld without a water ride?? Humorous lmao
  14. I went on a Tailspin when it first opened at Wet N Wild Sydney, now called Raging Waters Sydney. Really popular attraction, waited 40min to go on that one slide. I think it would be a good attraction for mid-level thrills, along with the Boomerango.
  15. I find the introduction to this app very compelling due to the nature of trophies/achievements from going on rides. How do you guys think it will work? I feel like you would be able to connect your wristband to the app/website for the day you’re visiting, and it will constantly update your progress? I only believe this because I remember being able to view what rides I had ridden on certain days on the website using my wristband. Do you guys think this is how it’s going to work? Could there be any downsides to the app or how it functions in the future? I would love to see what you guys think about Luna Play
  16. I can guarantee you that The Velociraptor at IMG in the UAE doesn’t, at least when I rode it. This was also a completely 1-1 clone of Blue Fire at Europa. I’m kinda wanting these on ST though haha.
  17. I know Rampage is a Moser Maverick, so let’s add THAT to the list here lmao
  18. Lmao yeh you’re right, my mistake. Still begs the question tho.
  19. Interesting point. Still makes me wonder about Green Lantern and even Arkham Asylum before the plug got pulled. This is kind of funny, because these were the two rides that had most (if not all) of the evacuations in recent times. They made news headlines I remember. And Arkham has definitely got the height, GL not so much, but it’s not small. Good point made though, definitely up for more discussion.
  20. Sledgehammer will probably be installed soon, as it’s in this first part of Luna Parks makeover (before it opens again in around 60 days). Big Dipper however, according to Luna Park’s website, will be opening December. We can expect the construction to take place during most of the second half of 2021
  21. Not at all, I remember that as well. Hardly ever extended the maintenance times either.
  22. What I don’t understand is why these age restrictions are only applying on some thrill rides, and not all of them? Movie World doesn’t put any age restrictions on Superman Escape, Green Lantern or Batwing, but places them on DCR and Scooby bloody doo? Lol very strange.
  23. Fascinating topic, here’s my answer: 1: Permanent quality flat rides and rollercoasters usually have a max in America of 54 inches, which is 1.37m. In other countries, such as Europe, UK, and Australia, it’s 140cm. That’s the max I’ve seen from top of the class manufacturers. I remember seeing carnival rides that have a minimum height of 150cm to ride alone. 2: I have no clue! I do know that the closest to adjustable restraints for height have been stand up coasters, which allow you to pull down the OTSRs to a desirable height level, also togo’s shoulder press on their coasters. Old school though. Hopefully we see more adjustable restraints in the future so almost all adults can ride safely? 3: It’s probably because it’s Movie World trying to prevent youngish children from riding and getting too freaked out by the intensity? Very funny cause 11 yr olds can ride Top Thrill Dragster in America. I think it’s silly, but it also has a smallish height restriction of 130cm, my 10yr old cousin can ride it. I would be very interested in seeing a true answer from someone?
  24. Awesome photos everyone, does anyone actually have a clue about how tall Big Dipper will be? It says it will be taller, faster and longer than its previous form, but does that refer to the Arrow Big Dipper or the Woodie? Very confused, I assume it will be quite medium height, maybe somewhere between 25-35m tall? What do you guys think??
