  1. It’s very odd they are closing it now and opening in 2024. It’s a long closure
  2. I really liked the review. I think it's quite easy to criticise our home parks because we literally see them all of the time. I do enjoy the positivity of Theme Park Worldwide. If I keep the positive vibes going we are lucky to have a world class rollercoaster with the Hypercoaster, an unbelievably well themed ride with Wild West Falls and a top notch coaster with Superman. The other thread is discussing what Movieworld could do to enhance their ride offering, but if they can find a way to add another thrill coaster and use some of the show buildings to further enhance ride offerings over the next 5 years that would make even more of a difference.
  3. I am surprised at the 'seniority' of the ECB and also impressed. I hope that's me when I'm a little older ! Hoping Theme Park World Wide puts up the Movieworld VLOG up soon
  4. I am not sure that the existing Atlantis review thread is an appropriate place to discuss Leviathans troubled launch anymore. 7news Gold Coast is reporting that passengers got stuck on the lift hill today for Leviathan. This is quite a common occurrence but it is quite clear that Leviathan is struggling with reliability issues. It seems every day this month Leviathan has opened late, or not at all, or opened late and then stopped working throughout the day. I think new coasters will always have some form of teething issues, but it feels like Leviathans are a bit more frequent than most coasters. is it worth Seaworld taking the ride back into maintenance in Feb to fix these issues? What are some of the possible reasons for the awkward issues.
  5. VRTP Statement Village Roadshow Theme Parks (VRTP) offers its deepest condolences to all those impacted by today’s helicopter tragedy in the Southport Broadwater. While Sea World Helicopters is an independent professional operator, VRTP is working with emergency services and the authorities to provide every possible assistance. We are providing support to our team members who have been emotionally affected by the tragedy. As it is now a police investigation, we cannot provide any further information at this stage.
  6. The Gold Coast Bulletin is reporting one helicopter was rising and one was descending and the rotor has clipped.
  7. Great report. We moved up to QLD about 4 years ago but visited Funfields as one of the last things we did as residents of Victoria. This was all before they built the wave pool and overhauled the kids areas. Even before this I found Funfields to be a neat, tidy park with a decent range of attractions. I do like the feel of theme parks that let people bring in food and just 'relax' for the day.
  8. I think we'll see an outcome for Surf Rider. I'm not sure what the outcome will be but I am hopeful that it is going to Seaworld where Vikings Revenge was. I think the Street Food Festival won't return to Dreamworld and we'll get a separate April event. I think the success of the Street Food festival has now morphed into the Night Market so we'll see something else being done, perhaps a bit more family friendly. I do think Dreamworld's refurbishment will continue, The Shockwave sign needs a tidy up and the Ocean Parade sign currently looks like it is being cleaned up. Otherwise I think we might be in the unique situation where we know most of the plans for our parks. I think Dreamworld's refurbishment will be very very rapid, i think the Switch over to Kenny and Belinda land will almost be done by the end of March and the Wave Swinger might be open by Winterfest. (Side note, Sky Voyager needs a new film option. A few years back they ran a American one during Winterfest, i wish they would bring that back)
  9. I used to use the app but the following website also lets you check the queues https://queue-park.com/parks/village-roadshow/warner-bros-movie-world/
  10. We went last night and I am a little bit tired of the repetitive Village events but I was very pleased with the event last night. It is clear the attendance numbers are now capped at a much more reasonable level, meaning the crowds just aren't as big, making for a much more enjoyable experience. In the past at these events I would struggle to get 2/3 things done because by the time you eat and take a photo, the queues are too big, but we managed to eat, get lots of photos (Movieworld has really stepped up how many characters are out in main street), go on Hypercoaster at night, do some kids activities, see Rudolph in Roxy and enjoy the parade. The parade floats are brilliant and the parade itself is wonderful, it shows the potential Village has when they really put in the effort. There have been some changes since last year and despite my hesitation I think it was probably the best evening event I have been at for years.
  11. I actually think it's important to look at the impact of Steel Taipan beyond just driving gate sales. Dreamworld has had a clear focus on 'guest satisfaction' over the last couple of years and the 'guest metric' scores have increased. I've been on Taipan a lot and the first time guests are always really impressed by the coaster. The addition of Taipan seems to have improved staff morale, given Dreamworld the confidence to forge forward and very quickly filled in the Rapids area, I actually think it's been a very big success, the kinetic energy it has delivered for the park, the road side appeal. It certainly isn't Hypercoaster, but Dreamworld isn't Village, nor is it trying to be.
  12. Gold Coaster normally goes down for about 2 months, I never know why they time it so much with the September holiday break.
  13. It didn’t open by the time we left at about 2. Leviathan opened about 12:15, the ride wait times showed 5 mins but it was at least an hour wait.
  14. I am here today and leviathan hasn’t opened yet and trident opened for about 20 minutes and then shut.
  15. I think the restraints are a little more restrictive than buzzsaw, but only just.
  16. You must be missing the point of a forum. I also don’t buy the “that’s just what you get” excuse. The way Village has handled Atlantis has been very average and it feels like people are far more lenient on Seaworld than if the experience was the same at Dreamworld. In fact, if we compare directly to Dreamworld, Steel Taipan was constructed quicker, there was passholder previews, the communication was better and the train has been reliable ever since. Now let’s compare this to Atlantis which took 3.5 years to get going, has had issues for all 3 of the days it has been open, Trident meanwhile simply isn’t ready and the experience today was very average, I’m just reporting on the general sentiment today, the general public just knows they waited 2 hours to get a go on the ride and their was no communication whatsoever. The ride itself, fantastic, but let’s not look at it all with rose tinted glasses.
  17. I am in line for Leviathan now. It is still testing and hasn’t started taking people yet. edit: it has now tested about 10 times and stalled at the top of the lift hill once. There is one or two people on the trains now (look like tradies). Lots of people in line (and have been since opening) very annoyed they are running carriages with one or two people. One of the trains in particular looks like it is struggling to get up the lift hill, the tradies may be there to see if they can feel if there is an error. Edit2: crowd was getting very restless. Seaworld staff have just communicated that the ride has been handed over to the ride operators and is 15/20 mins away from opening. Jet Rescue hasn’t opened yet and Patrick’s Jellyfish Frenzy is shut too, really average effort.
  18. It’s absolutely fantastic to see new merchandise for Leviathan. Seaworld look to have hit it out of the park.
  19. Gosh if it went into the island that would be phenomenal, you would have to imagine that Dreamworld is planning on adding some form of 3rd attraction to that themed land at some point as well, just because 2 rides in a themed land isn't lots.
  20. Does anyone know if there is a way to watch the presentation from this morning?
