  1. The Gold Coast’s biggest new theme park attraction in years is on track to open by Christmas in the latest pitch to lure domestic and international visitors back to the city. Construction is in full swing of the “world-first” $50m Wizard of Oz precinct at Warner Bros Movie World at Oxenford, with Village Roadshow bosses tipping the family friendly multi-ride area will take the city down the yellow brick road of prosperity. Village chief operating officer Bikash Randhawa said it would be able to accommodate more than 2000 people every hour. “This is something that has never been done before, so the beauty of this attraction is that everything has had to be built from scratch. “There were numerous people from Warner Brothers Discovery, our thematic team and our internal teams who had to create every square inch of this area from nothing. “What we’ve achieved here, especially with all the talent and the skill set coming out of Gold Coast, and to be able to do something that has not been done anywhere in the entire world is a big tick for tourism, and a big tick for the city of Gold Coast. “Theme parks drive visitation and I believe this will be something that is so iconic that, for years and years to come, we’ll have families come here with mums, dads and kids, who will one day bring their own children, making it a generational piece.” The attraction was first announced in July 2022. It will have two family-friendly rides, including a multi-launch coaster, capable of reaching speeds of almost 70km/hr around a 454m track and a racing coaster where thrill seekers will travel simultaneously on two 220m tracks reaching speeds of up to 58km/hr. It follows the recent opening of it's The Flash Speed Force ride at Easter. The Wizard of Oz precinct is being built on the former location of the Arkham Asylum roller coaster, which was originally known as the Lethal Weapon ride. https://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/news/future-gold-coast/warner-bros-movie-world-gold-coast-first-look-at-wizard-of-oz-precinct-attraction/news-story/e82f1aa3796ab35c4018ebb0ae2890e8 Did I miss the part where the suspended family coaster was having multiple launches?
  2. Not in full, but they pop up and i read them often. must have been a super busy day, but now I know they still employ that I’ll alter the advice I give to people, I’d honestly never heard of it happening at all recently
  3. The USJ website also hasn’t been updated in some ways for years. It still says you just wear a mask at all times too. Interested in how it was restricted? Did they bring out fencing and gates and you had to scan a timed entry pass get in? If so, that would have been the only day in the last 12 months that was implemented. I read daily trip reports at USJ on another site and you are the first to have mentioned it in any way since this time last year. Did you try to access the area, or just assume you couldn’t enter as there was no timed entry available in the app?
  4. Just a slight amendment to these - timed entry to HP at USJ has not been in place since Sept last year. Whilst the express passes still give you a time to enter, there is no gate or monitoring whatsoever, so you can come and go as you like. express pass 7 is highly recommend however. USJ is ridiculously busy even when it’s “quieter”. With DK world opening within SNW sometime prior to end of year, it will get even more crazy and you may find the only way to access it will be with a express pass
  5. After last year it would take something new and unexpected to consider going (and not just a Beetlejuice maze). Having had to pay last year for the first time in many years (with memberships losing access) and finding it the poorest both organisationally and engagingly in years as well, it’s left a real sour taste in my mouth
  6. Had that exact same question and kept scrolling to see if there was an answer… but nope!
  7. He was my Uber driver on Saturday night...
  8. EFT terminal has been with the sorter every visit I can recall since opening
  9. 100% Leviathan is substantially more thrilling than Storm
  10. yeah, they are completely unrelated to theme park roller coasters.
  11. looks like a refreshed look across the board with many characters, so i'd say this may have been implemented at a level higher than VTP management and possibly by DC/WB themselves. I actually don't mind that iteration of the Penguin, certainly has some roots from the comics and the Iceberg Lounge
  12. Similar spot. Pass expires in 3 weeks. have a renewal offer as always, but can’t see myself visiting until they get on top of things and WoO is little closer to reality. weighing up weather to burn the $30 per pass discount for the fact I may get more use out of it by waiting
  13. Vekoma uploaded these on their insta
  14. Only pico I know is pico de gallo on my Guzman burritos…
  15. Yeah, cool. Was there 4 weeks ago.
  16. I agree, however i can just imagine how slow that loading would be on a big wheel.... you want a leisurely trip and would be stuck on it for an hour
  17. This paragraph is the definition of “crock of shit”
  18. Great review @jjuttup! we did a Melbourne trip 3 weeks ago on Mother’s Day weekend, also taking in Melbourne Zoo & HP: Forbidden Forest (the main reason for our visit as our son is obsessed). Don’t think I could really add too much to your review which nails it all! I think it’s the best zoo in the country. Taronga has the world-class backdrop, but that aside Melbourne wins. HP:FF was literally amazing. Having recently returned from Japan and having done USJ and the WB HP studio tour (not to be missed if you are every visiting Tokyo) I felt there was no way I’d possibly be impressed with this - boy was I wrong! figured i’d chuck a couple of photos in to supplement what you’ve shared too We also spent a day at Luna Park -our first time there, which was also a heap of fun!
  19. European gondola ride? naa… just Tokyo DisneySea
  20. And it absolutely is. And with unique and remarkable rides like Beauty & the Beast and Pooh’s Hunny Hunt, so too is TDL. Flying Dino is probably my favourite coaster in the world (granted I have not done a coaster trip of the US). Spider-Man was so good too, such a shame it is now closed forever. I’ll always be grateful the timing of our time meant we got to ride it before closure (as well as Space Mountain at TDL)
