  1. The problem I see with a simulator themed to Loony Tunes is it would require heaps of feature animation done by the studio which would cost a fortune and likely make the ride cost prohibitive.
  2. I'm sorry but your post just cracks me up! Although part of me likes that whoever you spoke with has such a solid story to tell you. Did they by any chance also give you some dippin dots?
  3. Captain Green Beard! I think part of it was the show was hideously expensive to run so when it reached it's use by date they went in a different direction... Whilst not the Ski Show, the new show is every bit as bigger scale and definitely the biggest production of any of the parks in this country.
  4. ^ The audio doesn't loop and fits the length of the ride/elements well. I gave some more thought to anything "noteworthy" about the ride... -First Coaster in the Country to have 4 across seating -First Coaster in the Country to gave seats extending outside the track -First Coaster in the Country to have on board audio -Steepest drop on a Coaster in the Country -Giant GL logo that will become an iconic image for the park, which is also insanely bright IN THE DAY As for the logo it's lit solid but that of course doesn't mean it will stay that way for good
  5. Your opinion is more than valid in regards to what you think of the theming but I will address your noteworthy comment... For my mind, the logo welded to the side is definately noteworthy and is much more than just a cut out green logo which will become apparent when seen in person.
  6. I don't see the whole steepest thing as a big deal, in reality that record will/would only last a couple weeks anyway, because every park will just keep adding a degree.
  7. Really? Because I have always been of the opinion that Sea World is a park that is all about the shows (which is funny because that's how MW is viewed) with the rides there as filler attractions. A big WOW factor show at the centrepiece of the park has been laking for a while so it's great to see this again with the new show. Having said that, I doubt the park will stop there if it gets on a roll.
  8. The problem with having the 'steepest' or the 'fastest' is it won't last long. Much more likely no one will beat it in the Sthn Hemisphere than the entire world for a fair while. Traditionally (geeze I remember even when I was a kid) Aussie parks have always used the Sthn Hemisphere statistics. As for my 'cryptic' post, nothing cryptic, just that there was a lot of work going on with the ride (ie welding sparks etc) up exactly where that logo has been discussed. Is there any noticable change in the light of today?
  9. Judging by what I saw when just driving down the M1 I think you will get your wish...
  10. True to a degree but my experience has been that the new train has brought slower dispatches than the old one. Same with parking. More reliable, yes, faster, no.
  11. The way that place is going I wouldn't be at all surprised to hear the announcement of a new 8-10 million coaster in the next 5 years
  12. So has anyone seen the Show/Parade yet? I say that as it's more of a show about a parade rather than your traditional parade, which is fine by me... I went to the opening yesterday and was blown away impressed! This is not tow some trailers behind a buggy kind of float fiesta. These floats are easily up there with anything you'd expect from a Disney Park. Completely themed, hidden drivers and mechanisms, on board animatronics, lights, video, etc. The show has a massive cast and some cool water fountains used to great effect. It's also really great to see some good boat action back out on the lake. The park also appears to have updated the audio system in the stadium which is great too. I would say apart from the Outback Spectacular (which really is in a category of it's own) this is definitely the biggest and most involved show of any of the properties now and is definitely worth checking out. Should be a real hit for Sea World!
  13. That's really just 1 month per year, for a very high maintenance ride system in terms of stress and forces, not really that much IMO. You have to think that over in Europe where these things are made (and to an extent the US as well) that most parks are closed for MONTHS of the year to do this work.
  14. The line is really long so it should move quickly even if it's a long wait... As for all these questions of "when will it be open" etc... I know the concept of soft opening is somewhat new to aussie parks but what it means is there is a chance at any time the ride will open to guests, and at any time it may close, and without warning. You may get stuck on the ride, or be about to board, and then be sent away. A soft opening is used to get the bugs out of the ride system (of course nothing safety related) and the operations staff themselves so that when the ride officially opens and the park gets slammed the ride and staff are 100%. If you want to head to the park on the chance it will open, do so, but you might wait all day and never get on, and you can't complain about that, it's a bit like beta software. The park can't update on FB when it will open and close because they might not even know until just as it happens, so many variables. As for the ride, I've had a chance to ride and I think its friken amazing. Not "better than superman" as that is what everyone asks, rather it's a completely different style of ride and whilst doesn't have the speed has heaps to offer in it's own right in my opinion. I don't think it will have as big of a mark on the world scale as Superman, just simply because Superman is the best themed excelerator out there with one of the punchiest launches and the coaster world loves accelerators. Green Lantern is certainly a kick ass coaster though, has had some awesome extra touches added to it by Movieworld (IMO the 4 accross cars and lapbars make the ride) and when I enter the station I even get the 'feel' of a big brother coaster from overseas. In terms of the winner for the Gold Coast this year it's definately going to be GL over the competitions offering.
  15. Just wait till the official event starts... More in store to be certain.
  16. I remember Jaws being great at night during HHN, especially with the fire.
  17. I am a member of Club TPR, I feel it's worth it because I like the mail outs and I also enjoy supporting Robb and Elissa's efforts. Couple of great people that do some good things for the coaster community. Wish I had the time to get on another trip, the original one was GREAT!
  18. BT was definately batteries and the boats had to be charged overnight.
  19. Up to lock on Cork! There was also a whip on the end of the pedal that would stop the ride if a pedal was left down, ie a harness unlocked. Most arrow/vekoma trains used this same pedal system.
  20. Projection mapping is cool but it's so common now it's really lost its WOW unless it's something earth shattering. As far as effort, something like the Disney Studios Christmas lights takes waaay more time and effort than projection mapping... For what it's worth. WWF would be amazing to do cool projection but is hardly practical for the focus of a night time presentation.
  21. Yep you will notice the large parks like Disney and Universal use this process, disney are even much quicker, and rely on the in built safety systems that tell whether they seat is locked or not. Getting you to push on it is really just for your piece of mind. Rediculously enough just down the road (for example Knotts or SFMM) will have both attendants walk down the train, row by row, together verbally saying "check" as they pull on everyone restraint, just taking forever. Simply disney spends extra money on the restraint systems in order to speed up its loading process.
