  1. Christmas would actually be a few weeks behind the original planned date... perhaps there are some issues. These photos are a few weeks old so apologies for that, I keep forgetting to post them.
  2. Yes but to date we still haven't seen any kind of makeover. A sign and a train isn't a makeover in my opinion, it's just a new train. They really should have at least made an attempt to give this attraction a fresh look. I think it just goes to show you that we will never see anything like the quality of Bermy pulled off again at this park, which is a real shame.
  3. I would just like to halt things here for a minute and ask that all of you take a step back of almost acusing Ed of doing something shonky when it is nothing of the sort. stdragon03 has been a member of this site for a very very long time, does exist and was actually at the only Parkz meet, before there even was a Parkz. Now whilst this event may not have been completely thought through, that doesn't make it dodgy at all. I happen to know MW charge rediculous rates to hire their rides and insist you take out a food and beverage package with minimum number to do so. I think everyone has just been a little too harsh here.
  4. I believe this show will be pretty solid, I know some people working on and it's not going to be a half assed theme park attempt at a show. It is actual MTV producers putting on a pro show, which might be a fresh change for the Gold Coast theme park industry.
  5. I have to say that no where in our Guidelines does it say "except if using an iPhone in which case don't bother to check your post." If it becomes a big problem we will take steps to correct members who are regular offenders. iPhone is no excuse, I have one, and yes I do often have to go back and correct "it's" mistakes. This only happens when you are rushing and in too much of a hurry to check what you are writing. If I made a post like that I would expect to be called on it as I don't think it's satisfactory, and I expect the same from others. If you don't have time to post and review properly, then don't post at all.
  6. I'm trying to track down some photos and or video of these long gone attractions from the park, does anyone have any?
  7. More serious than that, however we do not wish to encourage any such behavior, including that which was described in the aforementioned thread. It has therefore been removed, which is a shame because it was a very interesting read. In respecting the attraction owners though, we have decided to remove it.
  8. Just remember, I never said anything about their timing, I haven't seen the show in at least 6 months so I would assume it's tight by now, others seem to be suggesting it's not. I never took a swipe at Stunt Driver crew, I just laughed at it being suggested that I would not be able to cue a show. Just on the comment "what equipment they got given," they didn't get given anything, this show was built in house from the ground up so they didn't "get given" anything. That would be like me complaining at the equipment I have to work with when I specified the equipment in the first place. The show is very lacking, but that doesn't mean they can only do what they have half baked. I've never had a problem with what the drivers and crew do with the show they are given, my beef with the show is in it's contents, not it's execution, and always has been. It's the same crew as PASS, and that show was nailed nearly every show, so you can't say bad things about the crew.
  9. I'm sorry, I'm not normally derogatory but this has to be one of the most stupid things I've ever read... that's not my opinion, that is fact!
  10. The new Narnia movie is in the studios and has been for quite some time. They have the entire facility taken up and it still isn't enough room. They have some amazing sets, very cool to have to drive through there every day and see what is continuously changing.
  11. WOW you're kidding me right? Amazing what happens with the parks no longer have a dedicated head projectionist. I can't believe what is going on at Seaworld, I feel very bad and sad for the people I know that are in charge at the moment, clearly they are not allowed to do a decent job of anything because not EVERYONE in EVERY department can be this bad at their jobs.
  12. Well that's good to hear Ian that there is talent in the mazes, I look forward to checking them out. I understand this is really the first year for MW and hopefully it does grow and become what it could be. Please let someone go over to the US and come back with a notebook full of ideas for next year!
  13. Having experienced two first grade halloween events last year at USO and Knotts I have to say I had high expectations for Movie World this year which appeared to be going after the same kind of concept this year. I ducked in quickly for the last hour on Sat night and what I saw in that short time and reading and hearing others comments I feel I set the bar way to high. Don't get me wrong, I will still be paying for a full price and going to give it a fair go myself but it seems they have missed the point. What makes the events at these parks is the atmosphere and the actors, both I felt were non existent. I saw one actor in the street the whole time, they need 100s. The park was way overlit and I have to disagree with AlexB that the lighting was aweful. Lots of big bright floods and LED everywhere, where as dark, smokey and moody should have been the goal. I hear the mazes lacked actors also which is what makes the event. 100s of purposely hired actors with no other job than to just seek people out and scare them! Not staff walking around with painted faces and STAFF shirts on. I would have expected a major stage show with high production in the Show stage, mix comedy with vampires or something and pack them in. As for rides, rides should be a non concern for such an event. We went on 1 ride at universal and 2 at knotts purely because they were the ones themed with actors (why is this not being done with WWF?). So hopefully it's a good start but from what I saw, they still have a ways to go. It's not rocket science, I could honestly have designed there entire event this year from lighting to entertainment to actors and mazes, all from 1 visit to each of those US events and a walkthrough and meet with the head of Ent. at Universal. Surely someone who actually is tasked with this job could do the same.
  14. I know who is going to care about the blockout dates... staff and christmas paying customers! The park will be packed and I don't think it's fair that full price paying guests are subjected to larger crowds because of the pass. I liked the VIP pass concept but I think now it's just gone for the money hungry approach.
  15. Disney halloween really doesn't rate a mention, nothing is different from the day time/normal night time with the exception of the already altered attractions and park dressing. The only Halloween 'even't' is targetted at kids. Knott's is barely 10 mins down the road and offers an amazing halloween experience until very late at night. IMO you would be crazy not to go when so close. Universal offers an unparalleled haloween (however I've only been to Orlando which is much more mature and highly regarded than the relatively new hollywood offering) experience to any other park IMO. However the huge numbers mean I recommend going on a RIP tour. But please back on track all.
  16. No I can't think of any property the company operates that is open at nights on weekends.
  17. Yeah that sucks that there isn't a single sunday night... kind of stupid for people that have to work fri sat nights, including a large number from their own company!
  18. Alex I would be passing that tidbit onto as many places as you can Alex. It's very interesting and basically completely ****s up any attempt they make to stop you bringing in food.
  19. I did that when we filmed the TVC but then I went and threw up We didn't have any break in between though other than the time it takes to re-pressurise the tanks.
  20. Sounds promising, is there a Sunday night session? If so I shall attend, I'm sure I can drag Joz with me!
  21. Don you made me laugh! Alex, that was a little sad
  22. Rumor circulating that the itself has been pulled completely before ever really opening, it was meant to open last saturday but I heard it was just called a rehearsal. Must have been real bad. The website seems to suggest this rumor is indeed true.
  23. Geeze guys you don't need to take things so literal and then read into them what wasn't there AND THEN expand upon that. I didn't say do things unsafe, Joz is right, the company is too cautious at the expense of product quality. You can do things perfectly safe and be less full on, it just takes more money. For example, you can have the place down to 6 feet of visibility (it was like this at Haunt in places) but you have to have more staff to supervise things. You also have to stick you your target audience. If you make this an event for over 16 year olds then you don't need to be as child proof. You really need to attend either Knotts or Universals halloween (or even better, both) to understand the concept. It's not unsafe, but it IS scary.
  24. It's funny, I've ridden eXcelerator about 130 times and I recon I've only been on Superman half that when I could ride it every day for free if I wanted too
