Well depending on when you go (I was there late October) Disney should be DEAD! I mean 2min waits on most rides and if it gets really bad you might have to wait a whole 5 That being the case I recomend 2 days at Disney, go 3 if you really want but you can get by without it. I would say definately make sure you get to Knott's, its a great park and you'll only need a day. Six Flaggs and Universal are good too and you could spend 1 day at each and maybe stretch six flaggs to two if you really want. Depends on crowds, only having weekend operation at the mountain may mean crowds will be busier...

I still remember before they had that auto spiel and the work experience kids used to get roped into doing the spiel

Gazza its not the sewer but it is the same water your shower and all that goes into. Our backwash outlet is probably about 5m from me right now so... You have to remember Gaz that this is somewhat of a much larger scale than your average backyard pool.
-
Actualy Gazza although they would likely use Sand as the primary filter you would probably find there would also be litter traps in use which would be there to catch any big material before it entered the filter. Of course I don't work at a water park but I would imagine this to be the case...

Everything you ever wanted to know about Wonderland
rappa replied to DaptoFunlandGuy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
WOW Bus you're right, it really never twigged till now that the two performance spaces are actualy different. What ever happend to Gold Nugget anyway? For that matter when do you think the last performance/even was held in Sundown (besides that dodgy stunt thing that is)? -

Are you sure that concert wasn't in the Sundown theatre? I could have swarn that was the stage and the area was too big to be Action Arena (aka Gold Nugget)... -
I thought it was pretty crap... Hoestly Flea I don't know why you waste your time on those silly videos. Surely there is something more productive you could be doing with you time...like really!

Well I'm quite happy with the original staff proposal. After all that means why all you poor bastards are too busy running the place the rest of us like me can actualy go and visit and enjoy the park

Hello Melanie I just wanted to be the first one to welcome you to the boards. Always nice to see some new local members, especially more ex park staff joining our little family. Just curious, you say you're from the Mountains, where abouts?

So Nev and I headed up to Katoomba today to check out the new Skyway at Scenic World. First thing we found is the new entrance to the complex is open and features a long walkway into the new foyer which serves as a line to buy tikets for the attractions. The car park was quite full today and thus the line to get tickets was quite long. Funny thing is if you actualy go up to where the Skyway departs from you can just buy your ticket there and jump straight on! The new Skyway itself, like the 'Flyway' (what a crap new name) is a nice piece of engineering. It features the same sort of design in cables and winch system as the Flyway and the cabin has the same "Ikea Style" colour scheme as Nev put it. The ride itself is extremely smooth and goes almost to the other side now. Signs indicate that another station on the other side of the valley will be opening soon. Now for the big magical glass floor... VERY BIG LETDOWN. As opposed to a huge glass floor on the entire cabin that magicaly turns from opaque to clear over the valley you get a thin 2 foot wide section that runs along a raised section in the middle of the cabin. This floor gradualy piece by piece turns clear the moment you depart the station, hardly a WOWING effect. In our opinion it would have been much better had they done the entire floor or at least made this section the same level as the rest of the 'normal' floor. All in all a nice addition to the place even if it lacks the 'Scenic Railway style thrill factor' of the old Skyway. As a side note there was a work platform/car on the Orphan Rocker track today, I'll attach a photo later...

Hey Gazza First just wanted to say I really like the design of the park and if they wanted to put the right funds into it and do it properly something like that could really be great. Mainly I just wanted to compliment you on that latest drawing. The detail and cleaness of the artwork is really great, you have a talent there!

What Roller coasters did you go on in 2004?

I dont think it is just RR inclosed. I for one totaly hate the new slide compared to the old. The old one was completely different and had some great bits in it like the first big turn when you got great air and went way up the side of the flume. The other great bit was at the end as you said with the large splash pool before the final drop. TC2 IMO is a poor replacement for something that didnt need replacing and is just like its brother which itself is pretty poor also.

Well this is probably the last off topic post before we all get hit by a bolt of lightning but I like to live on the edge That's weird to hear you had to keep running around for Xcel. I was there in October and hit the ride 42 times in my 5.5 hours at the park. We were welcome to re-ride all day long so I'm surprised to hear that you had to go around the extremely long que. What do you think of the Xcel ride crew? I recon they are some of the best ride Ops I've come across yet... See http://www.parkz.com.au/forums/sh...55&postcount=14

Hi Fives a fellow member of the Xcel fan club!!

Just a thought for you Paul... Now that you have that low res version up for us to look at maybe you will get some more interested in a bitching quality version. Being able to preview the product first might get a fair few of us interested... I am DLing it now, look forwars to checking it out.

Was chatting the Flea last night and I came up with a thought... What may be an option is to go with something like a clone of the Xcel layout... Not going with an original design is going to save big bucks on design and engineering. That is going to free up cash to get a better ride and theming. So I'm thinking maybe the Xcel layout with some added on pre-launch show/staging track. Try this for a concept... The load station is themed to an underground subway station, the train pulls out of the station (kicker and gravity driven) and makes its way through whatever show scenes they want to add. The the launch is the train gets 'pushed by superman' up and out into the open and over a building (the top hat) and then makes its way around the two large overbanks through the city skyline and through, in and around buildings before coming flying into the brake run down into a train tunnel... Just a quick concept I came up with to maximise bang for your budget...

LOL, good to see this thread is headed much in the way most of the other ones of late have gone. And I was wondering why I stopped replying to threads lately...

Well I will be the one to say welcome to the site and thanks for sharing your info. I personally didn't actualy know about this investor, I thought it was Mac Les that came in straight away. Look forward to seeing what else you have to share in the future... Hate to break it to you Slick but Richard is around and is looking over the site, keep up that sort of crap and I'm sure you will hear from him.

What is your favourite Cyclone or Leathal Weapon
rappa replied to ausnrl's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I don't mean to be the one to bring the rude negative fibe to this thread however I am going to... WHO CARES!!! Seriously how many more "what is your favourite" or "best ride/park" or "do you prefer" threads can we sustain on these forums! -
Really? WOW I never would have picked that, that's one thing I always thought good about WL is all their flats actualy looked like they were meant to be there as oposed to a carnie ride dumped on a slab...

Here's a question... What is/was the massive antenna behind Zodiac for? Always wondered about that one... the theory of it being a giant lightning rod came up yesterday -
The safety of the braking system in Scooby?
rappa replied to pazzap's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Okay sorry but I'm gonna do it anyway, slap me later Rich... Just a quick question Bus... Just out of curiousity if the park opened at 10am what time did the fire up procedures for the park start up each morning? And how many staff were involved in checking all these rides? NOW BACK TO EVIL SCOOBY SCARY BRAKE SYSTEMS -
Well I must say I am very glad to see that such a great and unique version of a ride is staying in Taz. Perhaps DW should get it and put it in the mountain and throw out the ****ty version they have

It's not really a peak period. When I was there last year at that time the park was dead. Maybe 10min wait on LW at the highest point in the day. Most of the time re-rides were cool...
