  1. Because it's a mine ride, where a mine ride was... that's just not how marketing works. When a park puts in a new attraction the cost has to be offset purely by an increase in revenue as a result of market drive to the park to sample the new attraction. "Hey we re-opened a new Eureka (but hey its got knew cars and track) some come back down" has a lot less impact than "Visit the all new Vertical drop stand up coaster in the new wilderness island area" Arguably the most famous coaster in the world, Space Mountain didn't draw anything like the crowds than Indiana Jones did wen it re-opened did it? And that's Space Mountain.
  2. We are seriously discussing not being able to get coke at maccas? Who the hell cares, if they don't have coke on ONE visit, get over it fat bastard! I also don't know why people are still emailing Dreamworld about why Eureka is closed... the ride was too expensive to repair/maintain so they made the decision to close it. It's simply financial. By the same token to remove the mountain is too costly (and this includes whether or not its asbestos) for the return they'd see on that expense so it remains siting there. There is just NO WAY they would ever put another mine themed ride into that space, it doesn't make any business sense, it won't draw in crowds and DW is about making money, its NOT about nostalgia in any way these days.
  3. Does it say part of Village Roadshow or Villahr Roadshow Theme Parks? Because the two are different.
  4. Well that seems like a pretty reliable piece of information that we can assume is pretty accurate. Thanks for sharing
  5. Why? Myfun is a ticketing business, they sell all sorts. Theme-parks.com.au is VRTPs online channel.
  6. I'm surprised there is no secondary restraint system but in theory it shouldn't be needed as its a redundant lap bar system, but this doesn't help a rider coming out of it. I would have thought after so many incidents the issue of larger guests falling out of restraints due to shifting weight would have been resolved by now.
  7. Well I like that. Personally I'm against just congregating one race in a particular area. To me that just isn't multicultural, so I like the idea of introducing other culture into a 'white Australian' area
  8. They really don't have unlimited money. Even with a 200million attraction, speak with anyone involved in building them and they will tell you about all the things that were cut due to budget. Their budgets do seen huge but is all down to return on investment and visitation. Plus a lot of people don't realise huge amounts of attraction budgets at Disney are spent on the R&D to invent the technologies in the first place. Hence why they build clones cause they are cheaper.
  9. Since every damn thread decends into garbage lately. We have a chit chat forum for crap
  10. Do the last two posts (now 3 including this) really contribute anything to this discussion? I kinda expect more
  11. ^ no need for me to post because was all summed up above very well.
  12. I definately see Flea's point but for me at least, when inside the park for some reason it doesn't come off as obtrusive, even though it's so much higher than anything else. I'll let everyone else form their own opinions though.
  13. What was the reason for the original closure in 2010?
  14. For the mean time no, its only got 1 semi off topic and 1 quazi off topic post so I think it's fine.
  15. Yeah no shit Alex, thanks for the lesson. Of course what I meant is Superman doesn't break done more often with 2 trains than with one. You know, a relevant reply to this discussion. As opposed to the endless drivel you felt we all could do with reading for some reason only known to you.
  16. 2 Trains run in MOST peak period, but it is rare that 2 run in June/July holidays as usually there is a rebuild happening on one of the trains. Its not any more likely the ride suffers downtime with 2 trains running than it is with 1.
  17. Yes I remember the play area well. This video even pre dates Pirates of Paradise! Does really remind me and make me think the 80s were just a better time to live in
  18. I'll be there in a few weeks and look forward to checking the new train out.
  19. Just need to point out the owners name is Hammon given people keep posting it.
  20. I'm not so sure. Maintenance at Scenic World appears to be exceptional. There is no reason not to think they wouldn't have maintained the structure even though not in use.
