  1. Thanks Gazza for all of the detailed reviews and fantastic photos. The park looks to be very well themed with lovely attention to detail and I would absolutely love to visit. Now to just find the excuse (and funds) to travel to Singapore....
  2. You seem to have neglected the option of "taking your family"... I don't organise "a group", but I say to my family "Who'd like to go to @##$%^World this weekend?" (feel free to do the voice like Chevy Chase in National Lampoon's Vacation) then I drive us down the coast and take us to @##$%^World. Please add a "go as a family" or "Dad, forces us" option to make your poll more accurate.... #stropsbeendrinkinagain
  3. I really think it is time Australian parks started to incorporate front row queues on their coasters. There is nothing more frustrating than waiting up to an hour for a ride only to end up with some dodgy middle seats. If people are willing to wait an extra couple of trains to experience the front of the coaster, then they should be able to. It's not something I feel I need to do every ride, but it is great to experience a coaster from the front (especially if it's your first ride), and considering our parks seem to be focusing so heavily on 'thrilling' coasters, I think it is time they started catering to coaster lovers with this option. It works flawlessly in most OS parks, and even Wonderland (back in the day) had you queue behind the carriage you wanted so that if you wanted the front and were willing to wait a few extra loads, you could.
  4. I don't think it is while climbing vertically that you tend to black out, but rather during either negative Gs, or a rapid change from positive to negative Gs. I haven't blacked out on SE, but did have an experience with blackouts at Knott's. At the start of the day I didn't blackout on anything, but after a full day of riding coasters nonstop (and I mean nonstop, everything was a walk on all day) I started blacking out, at first just on Silver Bullet, but then increasingly on others too. So, don't know that my blood pressure would've risen or deteriorated during the course of the day, but perhaps fatigue can contribute? Just thought I'd share incase it eluded to other possible causes...
  5. I was there on Tuesday & loads of people were valleying. For about 5 rides before mine the person in the red slide valleyed, so naturally they put me in the red tube and I thought "Great, my first ride and I'm not gonna make it." But I got over no problems and I am fairly slight (70kg), yet tall.
  6. Hendo's on the money, Ma & Pa are keeping it their until they head North for the Winter to fish the Gulf, make damper and listen to blokes with really long beards read bush poetry.
  7. Excellent spotting using near map, but to answer your question: Again, from MW's Facebook page.
  8. This photo is posted on Movie World's Facebook page. I don't think they would bother posting it there and getting people to speculate if it was only the old trains.
  9. Just a quick question. Is the VIP ERT on GL every day, or only on Saturdays?
  10. Everyone was expecting something big for Moiveworld's 20th Anniversary, but given that Dreamworld's 30th was the same year, what are the chances that they saved some stuff for a big 21st Bash!?! A revamped coaster (LW) and the replacement for BAATR in the same year, add a special parade (with Bugs Bunny downing a yard glass as the finale) and you've got yourself a pretty good 21st Birthday Party.
  11. Not having seen these markers, is there any chance they could be to build a structure enclosing part or all of the ride?
  12. Ironically, practically everybody who has posted regarding the grammar issue has an unintended typo in their post, so I think a little leniency is in order here. Now, to bring this thread back around to the opening question. I don't believe that RRRC needs a makeover. It's Grand Canyon / desert colour palette probably just looks a little dirty to those unfamiliar with the old cartoons and their endless (looped) brown rock features. To me I think the ride looks fantastic. However, we had the worst luck attempting to ride it just before Christmas. They had several faults in the time it took us to reach the front of the queue, and each time they sent through a seemingly excessive number of empty cars, then just as we got to the front, a kid puked everywhere in one carriage (before it had even reached the lift hill!), they then needed to get a cleaner, who took forever, but did a thorough job, and then we finally got to ride, but it took us around 90 minutes to ride. We only persevered because my 3 year old Son had finally plucked up the courage to ride his first Coaster and no enthusiast in his right mind is going to let that moment slip. I can thankfully say he absolutely loved it ( I had lived in fear up until that point that it might freak him out & he might never want to ride one again, and I have grown too attached to the little bugger to put him up for adoption), and that made it worth the wait. The End.
  13. My personal hunch (purely speculation), is that they will re-theme Lethal Weapon to Batman / Dark Knight Rises, and the BMATR2 building might become a more generic Justice League themed simulator or interactive shooter style dark ride to tie the whole DC area together. That's just my guess though...
  14. No, but what you see in the urinals depends on whether you are willing to pay 5 bucks or 10.
  15. Yeah, but how long would the queue be for the Rollergirl ride?
  16. I couldn't help but notice that the most recent map of Aussie World still shows a shed-like tunnel structure at the top of the plunge: Do you think it was a last minute omission, or, could it still be on it's way after the holiday period?
  17. The Outback Spectacular complex would seem like a no-brainer for the equestrian events too.
  18. ^ Nice. Thanks for the photo Randy, that logo should look amazing lit up at night.
  19. The boat looks great, nice paint job.
  20. You could look at additional charges in other (optional) ways. For example Buzz Lightyear, lets you email your scores from a computer at the end. Some kind of 'Frequent Players' or 'Top Shots Club' where scores are uploaded to leaderboards with daily, weekly or monthly prizes for top scorers, regular emails and offers might seem attractive enough as a small additional charge, perhaps free for VIP Gold passholders. The Simpsons ride has terminals where, for a fee you can email your onride photo to yourself, something like this with your scores might be a worth while addition.
  21. Tower of Terror 2 would be way better, if they just moved it to the front of the park....
  22. The thing that upset me (being both a parent AND a rollercoaster enthusiast) is that a new rollercoaster (not referring to GL as it's not replacing anything) like Superman or Scooby, comes at the expense of a ride, or experience, that could be enjoyed by everybody. As parents who still enjoy a thrill, if we head to Movie World (or any park for that matter) as a family (ie, without other friends or family, just 2 adults and 1 child) then the number of attractions we can actually all enjoy together are very few, and we can only enjoy the thrill rides if we both queue and ride separately. Australian parks would do well to take a leaf out of Universal's book and have some kind of parent's switch lounge (not too mention a separate front row seats queue for coasters, but thats another thread) so that riding one ride does not become a 90 minute baby sitting / swapping ordeal. Do I like Scooby Doo's Spooky Coaster? Hell yeah, but at the expense of the Gremlin Adventure, which I could've taken my son on as well, it becomes a little shadier. I guess most of the complaints and arguments on here would be moot if MW received additions rather than replacements. Closures outnumber new attractions, and that is what people get upset about. Would anyone begrudge MW for having 5 rollercoasters, if they still had LTRR, BATR, Gremlins, the studio tour, and a 2nd stage show. No, and it would be competing with the best parks in the world. Now, I know space (or lack thereof) is the main reason for replacements, but I think something needs to be done to expand the parks offerings, as I can't help but think that we spent a fuller day at the park in it's opening years, than we are able to now in the park's current state. /end drunken rant
