  1. If 4 major rides are closed I'm not gonna go just to ride a gyro swing šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø
  2. I think there has to be a more compelling reason for a giant swing than an "up yours" to DW. We now have them at DW, Aussie World, Luna Park, Adventure World, a number in varying sizes on the travelling circuit plus a mini one at Funfields. I mean the bigger Intamin one (Eg Tigeren at Djurs) is better than the smaller model (Eg Goliath at AW) The motion of the Zamperla giant ones is a bit more nauseating for some reason (I've done Sven Svingarm and Scream Machine at Adlabs Imagicaa) But really? do we want MW to build this and then that's our 'new' thrill ride for 3 or 4 years?
  3. Ooooh, I can comment on that now (Trip report probably in a week or two) It actually felt quite awkward. When you entered a turn on the ā€˜inside’ you’d get this feeling of braking suddenly (because physics, the car is following a shorter path than the chassis) so it didn’t really flow well as a ride. Looks interesting offride, and I gave it a good 5 or 6 laps to be sure, but it didn’t really impress overall. I think the one at Skara will be the only one ever built.
  4. But would a wild mouse at DW be as good as scooby? Maybe if it was like G'sengte Sau at Prater where it's just enormous rather than relying on theming?
  5. Hey didn't they get new trains for Hotwheels/Gold Coaster, and also MDMC, supposedly? Hey and didn't DW also get a new car for TOT at one point?
  6. If Escape from Madagascar is one of the worst coasters, what does that make a Wild Mouse?
  7. 100%. Heard about it for years, it was only ever at the Sydney Show (right?) so difficult to get a chance to try it. The other day I realised I've never been on a Zipper either!
  8. So with El Toro, RMC were previously a company that just assembled rides (A bit like RCS GMbH) hence the RMC. So they put up El Toro. Then they eventually started manufacturing their own rides from scratch.
  9. In terms of outward banking turns, there is one on Green Lantern.
  10. So both Chessington and Legoland Germany are getting family versions of the B&M wing coaster They already make family inverted coasters so i guess a gentle wing coaster is a natural progression. https://www.bolliger-mabillard.com/product/family-coaster Wouldn't mind seeing one of them here as a unique family ride.
  11. I think its more if you want to see more of the shows, have time to eat, or just not physically stand in a crowded line. People may want to do rides since riding at night is a different experience. And of course attendance is not uniform, some nights will be busier.
  12. Matterhorn reaches speeds of 140km/h? Righto.
  13. IDK there might have been a breakdown on the day you visited so they had a backlog. Did you get plenty of rides prior to 5pm?
  14. Because it takes longer and the staff would want to just clear the tailwhip queue and go home, not muck around dealing with a whole trains worth each time.
  15. I think over time if it became known you could get a quasi ERT at the end of the day there would be enough people wanting rides at 5pm you'd have to let new people on. Hence them just cycling quickly to pump them through so the staff can go home.
  16. I think the reason they wouldn't allow others to join would be to just speed up the throughput for those waiting for their tailwhip ride? Checking an empty train is quicker than letting people on / waiting for them to deposit loose items and sit down / waiting for them to exit.
  17. Yeah. I think people voting perhaps didn't realise how few "action" attractions Jamberoo has. Maybe when it had Grass Skiing, Go Karts, Wet Races it could have been, but clearly now 90% of the offering is water park attractions. I dunno why you would give Adventure World a separate category. Plenty of parks have slides and dry rides but you don't call them Action Parks.
  18. Action park is marketing speak though. It's overwhelmingly now a water park, with a couple of toboggans. Wet n Wild is a water park despite having a skycoaster, halfpipe coaster (And even ziplines and wild buggy at one point) I'd lol if people started calling it Wet n Wild Action Park.
  19. Yeah WTF, what developments in Australia have been opposed on the basis of Covid 19? Maybe if it was koalas, traffic or height (or perhaps a lake with black swans) you'd get the local nimbys. It's Just the developer trying to save face.
  20. Would moving it attract new visitors to the VRTP chain or sell more One Passes?
  21. Is it really worth going for the international crowds though? Are you talking about the international GP, or international thoosies? I mean FLY fits all of the above (highly themed, worlds first, amazing looking) and I doubt Phantasialand gets much traction outside of Germany and the neighbouring parts of the Netherlands. And I'm literally the target market for that ride, and I want to ride it, but I wont get there immediately. Re steel taipan, I dont think members of the public really get into the nuances of swing launches, or even have an opinion on them since they are uncommon still. To be honest, theres no rhyme or reason to it. Eg in content farm videos that end up your feed you get POVs of random B&Ms with a caption "Would you ride this" but I doubt it translates to people booking tickets to these parks, or even being able to find it on a map.
  22. The only reasons (IMO) to be a strictly family park is if you're so small its too expensive to try and cater to thrill riders (But you can afford to do kiddie rides, play areas etc) The other reason is if the park had an IP that doesn't lend itself to thrill rides (Eg Peppa Pig World Florida) Personally I think having all parks offer a mix of attractions keeps it interesting for a wider variety of visitors. SW is in the heart of a major tourist destination, so could easily be a broad audience drawcard, it shouldn't be a place you go check out only once because it happens to be on your 3 park pass.
  23. Millennium force has an inspection car that runs up beside the lift: https://www.parkz.com.au/photo/9128-Millennium_Force/gallery/sort/newest/location/millennium-force/offset/29 As others have said youd still need to get onto the track itself to check equipment mounted on the track. I think it's just Intamin being Intamin. The other Giga Intimidator 305 has a staircase https://www.parkz.com.au/photo/9889-Intimidator_305/gallery/sort/newest/location/intimidator-305/offset/11
  24. The Sea World eye was ā€œtransportableā€, but it’s not the same as a typical carnival ride that is painted with cheesy airbrush graphics and looks temporary and only stays for a couple of weeks. Those Ronald Bussink wheels seem a bit more involved for set up, and stay at their location for long periods (The Wheel of Brisbane is a good example) and the install doesn’t look as ā€œcheapā€. I think the main giveaway with the sea world eye was the metal flooring and the ugly modular fencing. But it still looks a lot more tasteful than a regular carnival ferris wheel I think SW eye got a pass because it was a big ride too, in an iconic location.
