New Water Attraction For Dreamworld...
Gazza replied to OzCoasterFreek's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Thats kind of dumb, it should be free since many water parks that have them include it in the admission. Though upcharging at DW isnt new, TB opened as an upcharge. -
Unfortunatley, the double shot you are thinking of has an even lower max height (about 60m) and even then, the second launch starts about halfway down the tower (not at the bottom as you might have gathered from RCT) But one area this ride will defintiley win out in is Capacity. Currently GD runs only 8 passengers at a time on a fairly long ride cycle, but the space shot ride is pretty fast, with 16 passengers in one go. But often the towers are built in pairs or groups of three, and sometimes even a group of four, so you can multiply that capacity out, so the queues will end up being shorter. Add to that the better theming the ride will inevitably have, and the net result is a better ride.

I think Richo said in another thread that a flowrider costs under $1mil, though im not sure about the wave pool, but I imagine it would probably be the most expensive attraction. But I dont really get the dissapointment people seem to have with Whitewater doing the slides instead of Proslide, they are basically even, its sort of like the comparison between B&M and Intamin, not much at all. Though to compete with WnW they just have to ensure it has good comparable rides, as well as some unique ones. This could be achieved by having prehaps just 3 towers, One could be entirely body slides, with 4 regular ones at middle level, and 4 extreme slides at the top. The other tower could have 4 raft slides off the middle level (like some of the SF Hurricane Habours) , at the top level could be 2 mammoth slides. The 3rd tower could have an octopus racer running off it, and prehaps on another level 2 toilet bowl slides (I think these are pretty likely as we dont have them here yet and would be the sort "unique" ride dW would be after ) But have a look at the photo I have attached below, it shows how a number of ride types can share the same tower, which would be good for DWs space problems. Look carefully and you can see provision has been made for another Mammoth slide on the right hand side of the conveyor belt. Also, another idea that is basically staring them in the face is to pay attention to their kids area, which might only cost a little bit more. Compare what WnW has: http://www.roller-coaster.com.au/gallery/b...bay-wnw/007.jpg Which is nice, but it could be so much more. Imagine if DW tried this.... http://www.themeparkreview.com/dells2005/sfhh/sfhh2.htm

Doubt it as space shor rides cant be built much higher than 70m due to technical limitations.

IMO WWW and PS are pretty even with their basic offerings (Eg body slides, ring slides etc), but PS comes out on top with its innovations (Eg the Tornado), whereas WWW is better for wave pools and kids areas (just look at the quality of the new bucaneer bay to see what i mean) so it wouldnt really matter who is making the basic slides Also, there are 3 manufacturers making uphill slides, Proslide makes the "Rocket", WhiteWaterWest makes the "Zip Coaster" and NBGS makes the "Master Blaster". The former 2 rely on high speed belt systems to move the rafts but NBGS uses water jets, IMO the better way since its more "pure" and has the novelty factor of water going uphill and has more raft arrangements, using belts for the other two is just the easy way out IMO. Also the reason i dislike the bright colours is because they look too generic and unthemed, its better IMO if they use neutral browns like at Typhoon Lagoon to give the park a convincing look.

Cool! One thing they could have done, but its a bit irrelevant and late now would have been to have the slide built over part of the carpark with the open end of the funnel facing the road, it would look even better and motorists and the public would be able to see the rafts going around in the tornado.

Ok, so it looks like White Water West is on board for project by the look of the slides (By chance i found this out because on their website they mention their manufacturing process where both sides of the slide have the same surface (shiny smooth), I should have guessed earlier by the fact there was a flowrider going in and the fact it will have a giant wave pool, both whitewater specialties) The slide colours are good (at least the blue ones, as for the purple ones, blech, reminds me of Six Flags) This is looking good though, i wonder when they will put the big trampoline thing over the flowrider though...

So is it easily visible from the Motorway?

Yeah, my main point was more the fact that people tend to be critisized when they post up information rather than the fact as to wether people do it or not. I said before that you wouldnt post info if you knew it was going to get you in trouble or if your identity is known, so there was no pressure there. As for the insider trading stuff, rubbish, it has been announced at a function (Im taking a guess but there might have been alcohol there which might not have made the group good at keeping secrets), and now again in the staff area plus as Liveandletlive said staff are activley telling guests, so its not a super secret (Eg limited to the Board), plus it might have already been announced to shareholders fairly quietly in a report (Im checking that now). I daresay the ASX might have jumped on it already if it were a true problem.

Ok, ok fair enough, i just wanted to get it off my chest. Hopefully WVTP might read this and might see my point, but when that happens pigs will fly. Theres always MSN and private messages I suppose
-
I know, but the point i was trying to make is the flawed logic in keeping ride details super secret, basically IMO the ride type is the most important thing to keep secret because that is the main aspect of the attraction, but once that is known i see no reason to keep anything else under wraps. So can anyone give a description or gat a pic of this drawing in the staff area?
-
LOL its in the manual how to do it,
-
Well its already called Interchange Park, which IMO is a better name, it sounds more industrial and buisness like. Though to tell you the truth, i think people will forget, like there are some parts of my town that have been knocked down, rebuilt etc and i can barley even remember some of these places now. The city is such a dynamic place that things never stand still and people adapt to the changes. Though one thing Do we really need to use that phrase in reference to something as trivial as a theme park?
-
Just a couple of suggestions, change the path type to one with metal supports, and maybe put tropical plants on the carpark side of the ride.
-
How can they be it yet be at the same time?
-
Yeah well it will probably be down the track. If i were you i would be very happy we were getting such a big slide, Tornados are the hottest thing going water park wise and really are a great ride. I mean, the airtime on the turns on mammoth is great, as is going down the drops on the Plunge. Now combine the two and multiply by 10 and you would get an idea of how fun this will be. Yes, a toilet bowl would be OK, but when you think about it, all you do is go around in circles, like a helix, now if you really wanted to do that you could go on that whitewater flume (cant remember its name, its the one next to Bombora) since that has a lengthy helix, and thats what it would be like. Not dissing a toiled bowl in any way, its just that a tornado is much better.

Well im not complaining about any extra info. I think its a joke how on the American/European coaster sites there is always plenty of inside info going around freely with regard to new rides, keeping in mind these parks have similar policies, yet here it seems to be critisized heavily, to the point where threads have been locked because it was supposedly too early to be told (Case point Shrek 4D). And then people wont give info about the ride by saying you should wait for the press release, but that is stupid because all they ever say is the basics with a lot of buzzwords about the ride (Eg with superman; "Australias first catapulting coaster") that we already knew. Its not as if they have press releases containg the info normally spoken about on the forums that we are interested in (Eg vehicle types, ride statistics, specific elements, layouts, detailed themes etc etc) so i dont see the point of keeping these things secret. Though with Rabid it is fair enough because people know who he is so there is an issue there. But as far as im concerned the ride is out in the open now so there is no point keeping anything secret now. What is the fear? that DW could find out? The ride type is already known so that is the main thing if DW wanted to build a competing ride, the theme is also not worth keeping secret because DW cant use WB trademarks, The stats arent worth keeping secret because it will be smaller than any of DWs rides (since launched freefall rides have a limit of about 70m from memory so they wont be worried with that, and location and other smaller details wouldnt be a threat because i think DW has enough on its plate with the waterpark without worrying about the finer points of how MW does things. So yeah, if you have info post it, or at least tell someone who can post it for you.

Luna Park Melbourne VS Luna Park Sydney, which is more fun?
Gazza replied to colliric's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Ill say melbourne because the focus is still on being a fun park, and not function centre like LPS has become, and also becuase of the historic rides. So has there actually been any news yet on the re_vamp of LPM by Lindsay Fox? -
I doubt it will be batwing escape since it sounds too similar to superman escape.
-
Good effort, very realistic, just make the train black with a green side stripe for more realism.
-
Yeah, if your polite they will let you take stuff into the queue, but you just have to assure them you wont take it on the ride.
-
The supports on Cyclone are definitley not teal, they arent green enough to be teal, light blue is the way to go. Also, going by this photo http://www.roller-coaster.com.au/gallery/cyclone-dw/006.jpg you can clearly see the track goes though the sidewinder.

Yeah, heres one of the unload station taken from the shop. Sorry about the blurring though, i had taken it on WWF so there must have been a little bit of moisture on the lens. But its ok now though. The loading station looks pretty much the same.

Not necessarily, i know for a fact it cost $15,000 to deck out the entire maccas i work at with new uniforms, and thats 80 people, i think DDWP will have about double that so it would be expensive, but not too much overall out of the budget.
