  1. Jeez Huss, just because his opinion is different to yours. IMO the ride should start spinning at the start, rather then half way through the second switch back, that would make it more interesting.
  2. Ok Alex, you think of some better names then. as for the water transport thing, the blue parts are lazy river sections, in other words, pools with a current in them. The fawn coloured sections are master blaster water slides, and these can defy gravity with the use of a water injection system that pushes rafts uphill, so these sections would be able to go up and down hills like a roller coaster. Toward the end of each lazy river section, it would funnel in to help guide the rafts into the slide. see http://www.nbgsintl.com/masterblaster.htm. As for it going close to the wave generators, i have left enough space for the equipment, and anyway, at the Melbourne sports and aquatic center, the final turn of the waterslide sits above the wave generation equipement, and in my park you could just make the slide go uphill and over the wave generation equipment plant room. Wild Wadi water park in the UAE uses a similar water transport system.
  3. Here is my idea for how the new WnW Sunshine coast could turn out. In the middle of the park would be a medium sized wave pool, and rising behind it is a rocky mountain, which is used as the start point for “The mountain splashdowns” and “Super splash rafting”, the mountain is also where the dive in movie screen is mounted, and inside the mountain is where the wave generation equipment, and the parks filtration system is hidden. Around the perimeter of the park is the “WnW water way”, a chain of master blasters and lazy river sections that provide thrills and also acts as the parks transport system, with various exit/entry points around the park. At the front left of the park is “Titan tower” just a tall tower with extreme slide. At the front right of the park is “Loony lagoon” the kid’s area. The whole park would be planted with lush tropical plants to make it look really nice. Tell me what you think. RIDES: Mountain Splashdowns, group of 3 regular flume slides featuring: 1) Flush Frenzy 2) Summit Splash 3) Crazy Creek 4) Siesta Springs, group of spas. 5) Breakers bay, Wave pool with a cinema screen mounted on the side of the mountain 6) Super Splash Rafting, spinning raft ride similar to mammoth falls. 7)Loony Lagoon, Kids pool area with a water playground that has a giant tipping bucket 8) Nippers Slippers, group of 2 kids water slides. Titan Tower, group of three high-speed teen slides featuring: 9) Panic plunge, enclosed freefall slide 10) Rampage run, enclosed steep gradient slide with turns 11) Maelstrom mayhem, bowl water slide Wet ‘n” Wild water way, group of 6 master blaster slides, interconnected in a continuous loop around the park with lazy river sections, featuring : 12) Twisting torrents 13) Storm surge 14) Canyon Cascades 15) Gloomy Caves 16) Riptide River 17) Rocky Rush 18) Body-board Beach, Artificial “Wave-loch” body board wave.
  4. RC No Limits Challenge 2 – Little Launchers Time for another No Limits challenge, this time, your challenge is to create a small but exiting rocket coaster, for inspiration, have a look at Kanonen on www.rcdb.com , that’s the sort of thing Im after. The story: A small amusement park has just been set up, however the local council does not allow developments higher than 30m high in its municipality so your coaster must not be higher than that. This park has only recently been established so they are after the newest technology, in this case an Intamin rocket coaster, but financial limitations means the park can only spend money on a coaster a maximum of 550m long. The Rules: -The coaster must be an Intamin Hyper Coaster in continuous mode -The track can only reach a maximum height of 30m (from the minimum level in the work area) -The track can only be 550m long including the station, brakes and launch -The track must include a top hat element, it can be a U shaped one like Kanonen or an L shaped one like storm runner. Your top hat can be an “outside” top hat or a “inside” top hat where riders are turned upside down -G limits: Lat +1.5 /-1.5 Vert +5.5/-1.5 Acc +2/-2 KEEP THE G FORCES IN CHECK!!!YOU WILL LOSE POINTS FOR NOT DOING THIS -Your riders must be able to get off the ride alive, MAKE SURE THERE IS SAFE CLEARANCE.Do a tunnel test and make sure that supports, other sections of track, the ground and trees. YOU WILL LOSE POINTS FOR NOT DOING THIS -Use all the space you want, and all the terra forming and trees you want, but no 3DS -Your ride must be realistically supported (a good guide is one support every 10m or so. -Your ride must pass the Emergency stop test (must be able to complete the circuit from an emergency stop on every brake) -Maximum 2 trains Your track should be posted in this thread by 25/01/05 zipped up, with the track file name in this format: “Username_Trackname.nltrack” Judging: Your ride will be judged on the following: -Excitement and adrenaline -The fun factor of it -Originality -Building Technique (how smooth the track is, no bumps and jerks, well shaped track ect) -Wether it fits the criteria -Overall quality of the layout This challenge is tougher than the last, but will yield interesting results, Good luck.
  5. Thats what i thought, its good to have one open, an one closed slide because they give different experiences, the rapids were quite fun, but i hated the brakes, i cant imagine them being very kind on the rafts, they would wear at them.
  6. For those in the know, i was wondering if you could shed some light on some questions i have about terror canyon. -What is the point of those stupid brake strips on the ride, its not as if you could lose control. -Is terror canyon 2 just river rapids with a roof, or did the rip out the old one and replace it, does anyone know why? -when terror canyon 2 was still river rapids, i remember their being this wierd thing that came before the final turn and the drop, where there was like this block thing, and as you approached it, a wall of water sort of went up and you got wet, how did this work? -towards the end of terror canyon 1, how did they do that greenish slime light effect?
  7. After looking at both tracks, I have come to my decision, The winner is Surf Rider by Joz, the track was well built with few errors, featured good moments of airtime, exiting turns, some cool drops, a unique launch straight into an immellmann , tidy support work, and a well designed train blocking system. Congratulations, here is your "prize" .
  8. Final hours people, remember, midnight forum time (so Queenslanders will need it in by 11pm their time)
  9. can someone tell me what a Moser Twin Flip is, im looking at you hussy
  10. The zipper was at my towns new years eve festival, in the paper it said there were going to be rides there, and i assumed it would just be dodgems and a kids merry go round like other years, but to my horror when i read mondays paper i found out the zipper had been there, but i had been over at a mates place anyway so it didnt matter so much. It was the zipper that is painted white, if that can help anyone knowing what one it was.
  11. Bump: You now have till midnight tommorrow to get your entries posted in this thread. I expect to see a stream of them being posted, or pin142 could win by default.

    RCT3 Rides?

So, can you drive the go karts or play mini golf, or does the AI just do it for you.

Here are a few more renderings.
  14. The way i think it could operate would be like this: Every day from November to Feburary, and on weekends for the rest of the year. And every day during school holidays.
  15. I like the homebush site for the reasons stated above, but with parking when more than one even its on, then maybe a simple multideck carpark could be put in, or maybe the park could offer a $2 discount to those who use public transport. Is the land there owned by the government? I think if it is then the governement should put out a tender for a company to build a theme park, it would be better than another apartment development or something else that only rich people can enjoy. Bren76, maybe put this idea foward. As for that Spyland think for Sydney, its too much of a Niche market and not close enough to the standart theme park format for it to do well, i would visit it, but would anyone else? Maybe someone could build a waterpark in Sydney, its warm enough there for 365 day operation, and it would not require as much land or cash to build it, but it caould still get high visitation rates.

    RCT3 Rides?

Cool thanks, just wondering though, what happens when you go on the 3D cinema?
  17. Nah, they would just screw it up. The first person I would ask is Ole Lange, but in an interview he said that he doesnt like water rides, so i guess not, maybe if i could 3d model better and could actually code something I would do it.
  18. Personnaly, i dont think disney could work as well because thier parks have much higer visting rates that what could be sustained here, I think a Universal, Tussauds or pParamount park could work here, or maybe just a completley indipendent operator. If it was done right, and stuck close to the standard theme park formula (and not try to be anything too "out there") and was kept fresh with a new ride every year or so, then it could work, LPS seems to be doing well, even though its just mostly a collection of ex carnival rides, so imagine how well a proper park could perform.

    RCT3 Rides?

Just wondering, can anybody post a complete list of all the rides avaliable in RCT3. Also, another slightly random thing, can someone post a pic of the new zero g roll element?
  20. Just a reminder, you have one week to get your tracks posted in this thread.
  21. I have been wondering, why haven’t we seen a water park Tycoon game yet, It could be quite fun and many people who play RCT would probably play it too. Here are some of my ideas for a water park game, tell me what you think. Slides, Every slide available now, from standard slides, to raft rides, master blasters bowl slides, extreme slides and many others. Other attractions such as Swing things, mini golf, Chairlifts and trams, and jumping towers. Pool attractions such as small, medium and large wave pools, lazy rivers, rapid rivers, whirlpools, spas and artificial surfing waves. Kids attractions such as water playgrounds, pirate boats, small slides, loads of fountain types, and fibreglass animals. Food outlets in the game wouldn’t sell individual items depending on the size, for example, carts could only carry one item, while hole in the wall outlets could carry 10 and large sit-down outlets could carry 25 items, all which you would have to research. Staff could include Handymen, Lifesavers, Mechanics, and Pool Cleaners. There would be 3 types of people, Kids, Teens and Adults, Teens can ride anything, but kids would only use small slides and shallow pools ect, while adults would use larger rides, but not kids ones. The game would be done in full 3d because the game would not require large numbers of polygons, for example, one slide segment could be done with 10 or so polygons, and 4 for the support, so frame rates would be high. Another feature in the game could be visiting mode, where you make a character (like in the Sims) then you enter one of your parks and actually control your character to run around the park, and you would be able to interact with things around the park (eg play around with water cannons, ride on rides, swim in the pools, and buy food), so if somebody recreated a real water park, people could see what it would be like to walk around in. Other things in the game could include heating your pools, if it’s too cold, visitors won’t swim unless it’s heated. Rides would be rated on criteria similar to RCT: Intensity, Excitement, Fun value (Nausea never really happens at water parks) , but another Variable could be an Aesthetical rating, so that would encourage you to theme stuff well, or else guests wont like it as much and would say “Raft slide 1 looks really drab”. What does everyone think of my idea? Attached is an un-textured pic of how the game could sort of look.
  22. SDSC uses a vertical lift where the car rolls onto a section of track, and the track section is raised like a lift. Before the lift is a set of brakes that stops the car going foward if the lift isnt down in position. The issue people are discussing is whether the car could roll off the section of track before the lift if the lift is in operation (going up or down) because the track ends there.
  23. I think its just a set of pinch brakes that the car cant continue past if they are shut because of the friction.
