  1. First of all I’ll day hi to Obstructure and welcome to the forum. Can you clarify this comment please? Are you saying that the winch won't get stuck? Because obviously it can't as the winch is at the top of the tower. As for the ride not being able to get stuck and not be released manually, what about if there is a major physical failure on the ride, I’m talking part of the breaks breaking off and hanging on by a few bolts or a piece of metal and the operator presses the emergency stop. There is absolutely no way that the ride could be manually dropped or lowered in that case. "The Bus is now leaving for Big Stuckup, NSW"
  2. I have to disagree with that for a couple of reasons. The first is that it is to far away from anything, it's a good 5 hour drive from Sydney and 2 hours from the nearest major (if you can call it that) airport (Newcastle). If they upgraded the airport there to be able to take commercial jets, I'm talking 737's and the like, then it could be viable but it would take a load of infrastructure change, and I don't think that the government, state or local would be willing to gamble or spend that much on something that has a good chance of failing. 3. This letter was in one of my local papers. "Loss of an 'icon' I was deeply saddened to learn on the imminent closure of Wonderland Sydney which, for the past 18 years, has been a local source of fun and entertainment for hundreds of thousands of Western Sydney residents. It is true to say we have lost an icon. As the local Federal MP, I attended the offical opening ceremony os Australia's Wonderland, as it was then called, conducted amid much fanfare back in 1985. It's a source of great disappointment for me that during my time as the MP for Chifley I will also witness Wonderland's closing. One of my greatest frustrations in all of this is that we weren't given the opportunity to save the site as a theme park. One day it was open, seemingly running smoothly enough. The next it was closing down to be replaced by a technology park. The State Government's failure to zone the land as a theme park means that Sydney, with its population of four million, is now left without one. The Gold Coast in Queensland, with a population of less than half a million, has four. Will Western Sydney kids need to travel 12 hours to the Gold Coast to experience the fun and excitement of a theme park in the future? I, for one, certainly hope not. I'd like to pass on my best wishes to the nearly 400 Wonderland staff members who now face a mad scramble to find a new job before the end of April. For many young people in Western Sydney, Wonderland provided them with their first job, and a taste of employment in the tourism/hospitality sector. It's a shame future that generations will not enjoy the same experience. Roger Price MP for Chifley" Penrith City Star Tuesday, March 16, 2004 I have to agree with Mr Price and say that the State Government has had a hand in the closing of Sydney's only theme park. Mr Carr has had only one thing on his mind since soming into power and that is how to make as much money as possible at any cost. Daniel, we are still waiting for your letter that was never published. "The Bus is now leaving for The Star Spur, Victoria"
  4. Have a look at the following links and you will see the differences between the rides. Delirium at PGA Huss Delirium Huss Giant Frisbee Intamin Gyro Swing Mondial Revolution By the way djrappa do you have 'enough rope'? And yet another Shifty special I see, you should really read your posts before you submit them. "The Bus is now leaving for Swinging Shovel, South Australia"
  5. Interesting comment, let’s analyse it. You Or Umberto Are Right Everyone Around This Oscillating Something Something Erogenous Region. Take all the capitals in that sentence and there is a message for you. "The Bus is now leaving for Sun Dial Creek, NSW"
  6. I think you will find that due to a financial situation the park may open later than expected, closer to the middle/end of April. The financial situation I am referring to is in relation to some bills not being paid, and a certain group of workers walking off the job until the bill is paid. I’m not sure what the situation is at the moment so they might be back on track, but from what I’ve heard they are approximately 2 weeks behind schedule. "The Bus is now leaving for Doughboy Opening, Tasmania"
  7. Another Shifty special I see. Where do you get your information? Because whoever told you that there were 11,000 people at Wonderland last night is pulling something, not necessarily your leg. Let’s get some perspective on this, December 1st 2003, CFMEU Picnic day at Wonderland Sydney, record attendance for an Australian theme park 16,000 people. Saturday night, 11,000 people I don't think so. Edit: I've just noticed where the problem is, Shifty is talking about the well known German theme park "Wodnerland" "The Bus is now leaving for The Peoples Park, NSW"
  8. Brilliant post Dj, I thought you had been with Jack, Jim and the Turkey and then I saw the sign off. I LMAO. "The Bus is now leaving for Drunken Gully, South Austraila"
  9. Shifty, do you actually read other peoples posts before you post something? You basically posted the same message before and again I will tell you that Wonderland will be lucky to stay open to the 26th of April, the way the staffing situation is going at the moment. If you can prove what you say by producing a press release or an internal memo or anything from Wonderland saying they are planning a concert I will believe you. See as you did it I will do it too, post my reply to your first post about this. "The Bus is now leaving for Heard Gully, Victoria"
  10. Im suprised this has taken so long to be posted here. So here it is. Incident "The Bus is now leaving for Left Branch Of Wild Cattle Creek, NSW"
  11. Or another classic from Bruce McAvaney "Shifty, Shifty, what a legend" "The Bus is now leaving for Bruce Aitken Playground, Victoria"
  12. Another Shifty special, where do you get your information? Wonderland will be lucky to stay open until the 26th so I can't see them organising a concert when they don't know when they are closing. With this in mind I think Shifty is right, 'wodnerland sydeny' (by the way it's spelt I would say it's in Germany) will be having a concert, we will all just have to go over to Germany to see it. "The Bus is now leaving for Last Effort Falls, NSW"
  13. Student concession and pensioners cards are accepted of course. Senior citizens and child fares are available. 1. Passes must be shown at the start of each journey, otherwise full fare must be paid. 2. Use valid only to the person named on the pass. 3. Passes are not valid if there are alterations OR passes are damaged or mutilated. 4. Fare can be refused at anytime. 5. All concession holders must vacate seat for full paying customers. 6. Wonderbus takes no responsibility for any items lost, stolen or damaged. 7. No discounts apply. "The Bus is now leaving for Price Anchorage, Queensland"
  14. Yeah I might drop in and say Hi. "The Bus is now leaving for Steep Drop Falls NSW"
  15. Shifty I was having a go at Joz after he posted the URL for the picture of Demon with the Dreamworld caption under it. Of course Space Probe isn't going to Jamberoo. Hey Daniel, why don't you go along to Wonderland on Sunday? That way you will be able to give everyone a hug and share some of that lovin'. "The Bus is now leaving for Joker Flat Dam, Northern Territory"
  16. Not me. Never go near the place. Wish I did then I would have some information about the place. "The Bus is now leaving for Peeping Toms Gully Workings, Victoria
  17. How did you guess? I bet Shifty's spewing that I broke the news first. "The Bus is now leaving for Flemington Race Course Claypan, Northern Territory"
  18. I have to agree with Daniel on this one. "The Bus is now leaving for Smart, NSW"
  19. I have been informed by a very reliable source that Space Probe is going to Jamberoo. Have a look here. "The Bus is now leaving for Rubbish Tip Hill, NSW"
  20. Yeah and definitely no homosexuals at Panthers *cough* Thursday night karaoke *cough* "The Bus is now leaving for Drages, Western Australia"
  21. Mate when was the last time you were in the park? The rides have never done this so I’m not sure what you are talking about. Some rides (Merry-Go-Round and Botany Bay Racers) will be open/closed alternate hours, but never open in the morning, closed in the afternoon. Ok now on to Shifty. Yes the a coat of paint will make the track look good, but next time you are in the park have a close look at the track, particularly at each end of the station, where the train is coming off a slope. The track is very worn and where the joins in the track are it is bad. As for the mechanical side of things the maintenance crew do the best they can with what little budget they get. That’s my two bob for the moment, more to come later. "The Bus is now leaving for Demondrille, NSW"
  22. Shifty, Shifty, Shifty. You obviously don't work at Wonderland or if you do you would not have access to that type of information. I say this for two reasons 1. Your posts are badly spelled and lack grammar 2. If you had access to that information (which only managers would know) you would not have bad spelling and grammar. As I said, that information would be for the managers only so don't say it was given at a staff meeting, because the general staff would not be told that. If you can confirm this information I will apologise so give us a press release, minutes from the meeting, anything, but don't say it's confirmed when it's not. "The Bus is now leaving for Molly Yorks Nightcap, Tasmania"
  23. Are you serious? WorkCover would not say "Oh Bush Beast is ok, there are bits of wood falling off and the whole track needs to be replaced, but you can continue to operate the ride". They would also not say that Demon needed a re-paint as I’m pretty sure that would not have much to do with the safety of the ride. When was the last time you were at Wonderland? The swinging chairs (Dragon's Flight) and the swinging boats (Galleon's Graveyard) are completely different rides, yes Dragon’s has been pulled apart but it is definitely a different ride. As for Wonderland having two perfectly good wooden coasters, let’s not start this argument up again, but news flash: Beastie has been closed for about 18 months now with zero maintenance done on it so it is not 'perfectly good'. "The Bus is now leaving for Gumeracha Sewerage Treatment Works, South Australia"
  24. Yeah right as if being a union delegate would make any difference to the information you had, as a union delegate you would be the last person Wonderland management would give that information too and don't say that your information came from another source because no one else would of known. I would put a large amount of money on a bet that the decision was not made 12 months ago, 3 months I would believe but not 12. "The Bus is now leaving for Union Jack Spur, Victoria"
  25. Hey Richard S, I know exactly who you are because I used to work with you. Was it 6 kids you had? Anyway where did you state that Wonderland was closing? I had a look through your previous posts and was unable to see that statement, if you did say it it wasn't through any inside knowledge that no one knew about, it's like me saying the local takeaway will be closing and then in 10 years time saying "see I told you so". As for job applicants not being told that the park was closing there is a very good reason for this NOBODY KNEW! I can tell you for a fact that not even the department managers knew about this until about 3pm yesterday. Everybody except probably the divisional managers had absolutely no idea this was going to happen, except for all the rumours that were going around and I can tell you that there were around 20 different one floating around. So don't come here saying "Told you so" when you had absolutely no idea what was going on. "The Bus is now leaving for Bull Knob, South Australia"
