  1. Needs to be >Pick your photo on the touchscreeen >Tap card to purchase >Type in either your phone number or email to get the photo sent to you. Edit: and obviously at the point where you tap your card, you could also have the option to scan your photo band or pass instead for free.

  2. It was mentioned a while back that only one train would have the spinner. Also the 'high capacity' train is the same as both Rivals trains. It actually seems a shame to me that they couldn't get at least one more so they can run 3 in the summer peak, and ALWAYS run 2 in the smaller peaks. Blue Fire has 5 and runs 4 for comparison. I think that with our peak periods spread out over the year, there really is a compelling case for one train more than the coaster can handle at Australian parks but ST could literally handle it. Also with 2 trains, the mid course block run is just a pointless mood killer. Pity we couldn't get a nice floater airtime hill there. Also just on that video: "What will the guest experiemce be like" "How so do you ensure maximum excitement and safety?" "The device" "An opening crew member of Steel Taipan" "People occupied dispatches" "Manual handling procedures" My god who talks like this? Did anyone see Big Dippers announcement and think 'I wonder what the guest experience will be like?'. It's a roller coaster, people have a pretty good idea what the guest experience will be like. I also have never heard anyone say 'The device' who wasn't just trying to sound smart. You know the more I think of it, the more I think my first paragraph of disappointment was influenced by having just watched the 'behind the scenes'

  3. I guess we all just assumed based on the fact that DCR had both trains backwards that ST would be the same. Its disappointing - i'm sure it was mentioned a while back that if it is only on one train, then when that train goes down for maintenance, they won't be able to offer that experience, but the slight increase to capacity, as well as the ability to ride the 'actual' back of the train for a different airtime experience as well makes for some good re-rideability as you can get a different experience at the 'very' back of the train. I can see issues for people who want to wait for the very back of the train though, but it will be disappointing if Dreamworld don't allow that. While I see the silver lining, its pretty shit that they only got one spinner, and chances are it won't be available half the time in off peak simply due to cost-saving measures as they balance the wear and tear on each train. I wonder if they will actually list which train will operate on any given day on their website or whether you have to wait until you get to the carpark?

  4. I'd say they'll do it almost exactly like how Village do it.

  5. Sort of related to the 'capacity v income' thing, one stat I would love to have is how many onride photos are sold per 1000 riders. As in, aside from pure make your park better, intangible stuff, what is the tangible result to revenue when you increase capacity? Also what would it do to revenue if the kiosks at the end of rivals, instead of showing you a video and scanning a barcode, that you then take across the park, queue up and then buy, what would it be if it was 'Buy a digital copy of your photo NOW, $10 Eftpos only, with a QR code in the email to get it printed in park for the remainder of the cost? If the stats exist, surely you could make a decision outside of the intangible 'The queue is too long' and have a way of quantifying the return on increased capacity.

  6. I don't understand why this can't be fixed with simply programming and some catwalk

  7. Needs to be a zero g roll IMO, god damn a coaster here needs that element urgently. But I'm guessing Mack are trying to leave as much alone as possible, hence adding those wierd intermediate supports rather than thickening the spine. Re the spinning car. I would have thought it would have made sense to have an extra standard car that could be swapped out so that the spinning car can always be on track. Or IDK just order an extra spinning car if it gets popular. Operationally, this will work a bit better than DCR in that a train stacked can roll into the station and not have to negotiate a slow U turn.

  9. Where's the excitement? The passion? The pride? The turnaround story? I've interviewed these fine folks before - I know they're passionate about this coaster, but these videos don't let them shine and don't do the project justice. How this video lands is that checking off a list of dot points a manager wanted communicated was more important than telling a story the audience wanted to watch. Which is sad, because I wanted way more from Dreamworld, particularly given how much of their recovery is pinned on the success of "this device."

  10. New Behind the Taipan video this time on ride operations.

  11. Rather than charging people extra for exclusive tables and chairs - perhaps Dreamworld might consider just buying more for their next major 'dinnertime' event?

  12. Because some pass holders have FN entry included in their passes, they don't include admission in UTT because some people don't need it. Instead of asking a bunch of people what is included in a pass you aren't even sure of, ring 133 FUN, and ask them. They'll ask for your pass number, and they'll tell you what is included.

  13. This is the cleverest theming idea i've seen on the gold coast in years!

  14. that's probably why the tower fell down that they built last week!

  15. Why does this only have to be a single ride? why couldn't they be planning to install two?

  16. ETA: off peak, the backwards seat does dispatch empty quiet a lot from what i've seen - so maybe in offpeak they don't run the spinner at all? 😮

  17. Unless your pass comes with a fright nights entry (some of the early memberships do) you will have to buy the terror tour ticket and the fright nights ticket separately.
