  1. If it was five years ago when it closed, I would've said (and did!) that they were crazy not to spend the money refurbishing Viking's, particularly during a period where they didn't have a lot of attractions on offer. Now I wonder if they spent the money tomorrow, would it be worth it? I figure they've got plans for the castle but it'll be after Movie World's next build, so we're talking a few million to refurb only for a SBNO to run for another year or two? I don't see it ever happening now, unless the castle is 100% staying and just being gutted. Even then, is that the best case scenario for the castle, a new ride and Vikings? In a perfect world, redesigning that castle from the scratch is the way to go. Designing a building to look like a lighthouse (or whatever you like really) that can encompass a dark ride, the log flume and even some sort of observation space would be brilliant. Hell, bonus points if you can fit a new ropeway platform in there too.

  2. Kaboom and Double barrel is done, and they are halfway through with super ripper. You can see some of the water toys have been installed in h2oasis.

  3. 100% agree that pass prices have been too cheap. My issue is only if they continue to cut costs/impact guest experience while increasing prices. If we see general park hours still reduced post January peak I will be disappointed.

  4. Seconded. It’s finally more than Adventure World’s off-peak season pass. If we want better parks, this is the road we need to be on.

  6. I loved the mansion, it was a great use of space, a 'custom' attraction for an evening event, fun for the kids and a good experience. I thought it was the best part of Happy Halloween. I hope they use the space more in the future because the 'bones' of the building are great, It's a surprisingly large space too.

  7. This is really great to hear. I feel like the vast majority of feedback that's been posted here (from parking flow to allowing guests to stay in the park after day trade etc. etc.) has been taken onboard and adapted to make the event better. I feel like the mansion has been under-rated - what were people's thoughts on it?

  9. Went on the last night so this infomation is pretty irrelevant, but I thought the event was fantastic! Again the free redemption so just went to check it out. Got to the park at 3pm and then was able to stay inside from 5-5.30 during the transition rather than dealing with big parking lines or lines at the gate. Great time was had, the Mansion was great! Althouhg the harvest snacks area wasn't open tonight because it sounds like they ran out of some items, didnt really mind the event was free anyway. Loved that every inch of the park had decoration and music playing. Good job dreamworld.

  11. I checked out Spooky Nights last night for my first time. Overall the event is pretty good and great for kids. I’ll bring down the varying aspects of the event. Parking and entry As expected the Sea World carpark did fill up and they used the overflow when required. We arrived at 5 and just parked on the street, as I’d learnt from previous SW events that was always the best option. They had plenty of traffic control on and they managed the situation well. Entering the park didn’t take too long. We entered through the usual pass holder entrance and even though the queue was back to the road, it was quick. Food We had the Bao buns, foot long Dagwood dog and chips. All very pretty good. And all the other food looked good too. The amount of food was good for the theme park prices. Rides I believe the vortex was down due to technical issues because I saw maintenance staff working on it at 5. Because of the rain, the Vortex was under testing at around 8, but I’m now sure if it opened for the last 30 minutes. Because of the rain, Storm and Nickelodeon didn’t operate for most of the night. Atmosphere A part from some lighting and smoke machines, there wasn’t a lot happening throughout the park. There were a few skeletons, photo ops and the ‘monster’ towers where you hit a button and lights flashed and there were some sound effects. The Plaza was the area with the most atmosphere, with the DJ and a couple roaming characters/dancers. Lightshow It was a bit underwhelming. I don’t know if it’s because I had the expectations it would be to the level of the Carnivale shows. But there wasn’t actually that much water effects. There were a few lights and projections, but not too many. The fireworks was a really good touch and I’m glad they were a part of it. The show was mostly about the characters signing and dancing. The story and songs were pretty good. But as a whole, I waa hoping for a lot more from it.
