  1. I dunno why there is so much hyperventilation about the idea of a door across the track. Heaps of rides use soft rubber doors, and lets be honest the station is a low speed environment. Meanwhile you have coasters like Juvulen or Blue Fire with actual doors across the launch track the train could hit at high speed. If its controlled by the ride system, and you verfiy with a sensor, how is the risk the door doesn't open any worse than the risk your transfer track on your multi pass launch isn't in position, or that your vertical elevator car isnt in position before the car rolls into it. I do prefer the light lock idea.

  3. Nope that lame lass name is the actual thing Great marketing spin to try and sell the fact the launch system isnt capable of the required acceleration by making it a feature These guys should work for village

  4. Im not sure why everyone keeps mentioning Superman’s doors being closed, they’ve been operating the past couple times since i visited, i haven’t seen them closed since like 2020/2021.

  5. You can get "high speed self repairing doors" that are basically glorified vinyl blinds that roll up very quickly. If something like a forklift crashes into them they just flop out of the way so cant really injure anyone. I have seen these used on some attractions.

  6. Simply - having the cable wound up inside the tower protects it from wind and weather. If the catch car sat at the bottom every night, there'd be ~119 metres of cable (times two) whipping around the tower all night. (Ever seen a naked flagpole in the wind? the rope whips it back and forth against the tower!) Although the tower has guide rails to support the cable down the length of the tower, there's only a couple of them and that still leaves large spans of cable flapping in the breeze. No, better to put it away at night. hope this explains things.

  7. Please enjoy my very poor amateur matching skills and this is very obviously not to scale and only a 'best guess' lineup based on the two images and the red\blue lines added.

  8. Easily explained. The release mechanism worked the same way on both (as it does on all Intamin Giant Drops). The fake-out drop was simply another set of brake fins that 'caught' the gondola just below the release point for a moment before it slipped out the other side and continued to drop. I can't speak to your personal reaction, but in general the ride experience on GD isn't as disorienting to your inner ear as Rivals or ST. Because there's only one direction of motion, it's actually unlikely to make you nauseous (unless you suffer from vertigo)

  9. The monorail air-con debate has been had numerous times on Parkz. I think the main issues were that the train clearances were insufficient in some places around the park - the most notable being the Plaza roof towards the Stingrays if I remember correctly, but there was also the Corkscrew track to navigate at one point as well.
